Fab trip - really enjoyed Carton House and your recommendation was spot on. Hotel well appointed - had executive room with lots of space, we were well cared for at the golf club and found the facilitties and course excellent. All in all it exceeded our expectations and also represented great value for money. Many thanks and will definitely book our next trip with you again.

Monty has gone back to his Scottish roots with his Carton House creation and has put together an inland links of sorts, with very clear inspiration being taken from the great seaside courses of yesteryear. The course has been sculptured with plenty of earth being moved to create mind boggling undulations that certainly add to the overall challenge.
Add to that countless deep pot bunkers, fescue rough that sways gently in the wind and a design that is intended to use the prevailing wind to challenge the player from the tee and you have a fantastic test of golf. Stretching to well over 7,000 yards from the tips, the Montgomerie Course at Carton House hosted the 2013 Irish Open won by England's Paul Casey.
Hosted Events: The 2005 & 2006 Nissan Irish Open, The 2010 Handa Irish Senior's Open, The 2013 Irish Open

Mark O’Meara’s design at Carton House is the original course on the resort. This course is vastly different to its younger sibling, something that will appear to visiting golfers because, as they say, “variety is the spice of life”. Thanks to Lady Emily Leinster, who is credited with adding a wide variety of non-native trees to the property in the middle of the 18th century, the O’Meara Course is a more parkland affair than the Montgomerie Course. Blue Cedars, Lebanese Cedars and Copper Beeches, as well as the native sycamores, firs and pines, skirt the fairways and demand accuracy from the tee.
Skirting gently undulating terrain along the banks of the River Rye, which comes into play frequently on the back nine, the O’Meara Course is a picturesque delight and the perfect foil for its more demanding sibling. Get the camera ready when approaching the 14th as this is the start of Carton House’s very own Amen Corner. Ending at the 16th, this stretch of the course is beautiful and treacherous in equal proportions.
Carton House has been recognised by the prestigious ‘Committed to Green Award'.
Situated just half an hour from Dublin, the stunning Palladian house is situated amidst over 1000 acres of land, and has been visited over the years by Queen Victoria and Grace Kelly. The minimalist interior space is in stark contrast to the untouched grandeur of the façade, and the antique furnishing of the public spaces.
The hotel itself boasts 165 superb bedrooms, all equipped to guarantee guests the best in comfort and luxury. The superb facilities include king-size beds, power showers, WiFi access, flat screen TV, a sofa, and air-conditioning.
For a special occasion, there are also 18 suites, include the Lady Emily Suite, with its own private sitting room overlooking Carton House's awe-inspiring golf courses. With a range of leisure pursuits available on the estate, and a fantastic array of dining options, you could not ask for any more from a golf break.
Hotel guests can take advantage of guided walks, fishing and nature trails. Alternatively, relax in the opulent spa, where you can de-stress, renew and revive in the serene setting of the purpose-built treatment rooms.
The Linden Tree Restaurant, with its cushioned walls, marble floors and leather seats offers a luxurious dining experience.

I have been organising our golf trips for about 5 years now and we are all agreed that this was by far and away or best one yet. The setting was absolutely amazing, the accommodation and the facilities on offer are excellent and the staff in both the hotel and golf complex were first class.
The golf courses on the face of it look quite easy but don't be fooled! In our round on the Montgomerie course I must have found at least 20 bunkers which were difficult to extricate yourself from! The golf courses offer a challenge to all handicaps. Our group had quite a range of handicaps and we all found both the Montgomeerie and the O’Meara course to be enjoyable. There are some fantastic looking holes particularly on some of the par 3s over water hazards...gulp!
During our stay the Ireland rugby team were there training for the upcoming internationals and speaking to some of the locals we found out that the complex is widely used by football teams such as Real Madrid which gives you an idea of the quality of the facilities. Never did bump into Ronaldo though!
Eat a hearty Irish breakfast before you play...there is an excellent selection to suit all tastes. Then prepare yourself for the challenge ahead, go to the free practice ground or putting greens, hire a buggy with towels thrown in for good measure. When you have completed your round go and have a shower and enjoy the clubhouse and its many treasures.
Excellent golf holiday; well planned by Your Golf Travel; highly impressed and would recommend wholeheartedly.
Carton House is my favourite golf resort in Ireland and I love it more and more every time I go back.
Teeing off on the Montgomerie course I was suitably impressed. The fairways were immaculate, the greens were super fast and unusually for a prkaldn course there were plenty of pot bunkers scattered around the course. This is a proper test of course management and straight hitting. Stray too far from the fairways and you will struggle!
The hotel is superb. The building is stunning and traditional from the outside and the interior is fresh and modern following what must have been an expensive renovation. The rooms are excellent and are kitted out with all the modern touches you may need.
We organised a babysitter with the concierge who was lovely and put out us both at ease before we headed down to the restaurant for something to eat.
My wife and I both really enjoyed our dinner and the breakfast the following morning was equally as good...it’s the business and the staff are really kind and efficient as well
It won’t be long until I return for another golf break at Carton House and I will definitely be booking with Your Golf Travel again. I’m looking forward to it already!
Many thanks for organising our recent golf holiday at Carton House. We all had a fantastic time and I really couldn’t highlight a fault in the trip…well there were a couple of rain showers but I can’t really blame Your Golf Travel for that!
Carton House was a fantastic venue for a weekend golf break and the package we bought was excellent value for money when consider what was on offer.
Both of the golf courses are top quality and actually present very differing challenges. Of course they are both on pristine condition and the practice facilities are top class. The staff in and around the golf club and clubhouse are amazing; so friendly and helpful!
The hotel is a classy establishment with a relaxing atmosphere and fantastic facilities and services that will ensure you are never short of something to do. The food in the restaurants is excellent and while the drinks can be pricey you should come to expect that from a top class golf resort.
The success of the golf break was totally down to the venue and Your Golf Travel. Your service was outstanding and we will be booking future golf breaks through YGT.
The two courses at Carton House were in excellent condition during our golf break. The Montgomery course was especially well presented and the only thing that let the O'Meara down was the fact that the greens had just been sanded. However it was still a pleasure to play the course. The 14th, 15th and 16th holes on the O'Meara are truly stunning and will remain in the memory for a long time.
We had a group of twelve golfers ranging in handicap from 5 to 22 and the various tee's provided a challenge for every player and the higher handicappers won all the sweeps, putting their extra shots to good use. We ate in the clubhouse on one occasion and found that the food and drink where about the price we expected, a pint was 5 Euros and the food ranged from 8 to 25 Euros which was what we expected to pay.
The hotel itself was stunning and excellent value for money. The breakfast was very good, the rooms were spotless and had everything we needed for the trip. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about the resort and its history and were happy to advise us on the best places to visit in Maynooth town centre for food and drinks. The location was very easy to find too and was a painless 2hr drive from just outside Belfast. Once we got to Maynooth the course was very well signposted and easy to find.
The overall verdict from all twelve golfers that stayed and played on the course was 10/10 and we are already talking about booking again for the same time next year. The service provided by YGT was first class and made booking the trip easy and hassle free and we will definitely use the company again.
We loved our golf break at Carton House Golf Course and Spa. We played both golf courses and both were in excellent condition. The O’Meara has some great topographical features on the back nine, including a waterfall which presents a “do you go for it or play safe?” situation. The Montgomery course is excellent. Sandwiches and hot/cold drinks were provided at the 10th and I consider this to be a really challenging course. I would recommend both courses highly to anyone.
19th hole: The converted stables provide the golf club area facilities with pro shop and bars. Bacon butties and coffee were available for carry out and at mid day on the course.
Hotel: Staff were most helpful at all times. The room was spacious, fresh, clean and comfortable. Facilities were excellent, although there was no Sky in the room. The Earl of Kildare house with the original features from the kitchen to the grand function room with its organs and paintings conserved is worth looking around. Leaflets were provided at reception. The Spa facilities are excellent. Clean, fresh, spacious and well laid out. I did not have time to try a Spa treatment although there were plenty to choose from. We thought the Linden Restaurant was first class in service, presentation and quality of food. The fish was beautifully prepared.
Overall I would rate Carton House Hotel and Golf Club 10/10. I think the whole package was excellent value for money and would highly recommend the Carton House Hotel and Golf Club.
Your Golf Travel I would rate 10/10 for them as well. I had just sent off the email query not expecting a reply for a day or so. However, they phoned later that same day. Everything was sorted promptly, including accommodating our times on each of the courses. We have previously booked Druids Glen and Penina in Portugal through Your Golf Travel and I have recommended others to check their web site golf packages.
Booked a two day break at Carton House (Dublin) though Your Golf Travel and I would certainly recommend both the resort and Your Golf Travel themselves to anyone else thinking of a short golf break. After a little shopping around, Your Golf Travel presented the best price and were both efficient and easy to work with.
The hotel itself was a
wonderful experience and was easy to find, only 20 minutes from Dublin airport/city
centre. I have stayed there twice, and have twice I been given a room upgrade!
The staff at the hotel are wonderful and it is hard to find a fault with the
location and facilities. The food was very good and the leisure facilities on
site are great. We used the pool, tennis courts, driving range, and the bikes
on the network of paths throughout the estate.
The two golf courses (O’Meara and Montgomery) are both in great condition. The Montgomery has recently hosted the Irish Open which was a nice touch. Both courses presented testing rounds; the Montgomery is more challenging with its numerous well located bunkers, but the O’Meara is certainly more interesting. The clubhouse was excellent too, with good food and plenty of outside decking on which to enjoy your meal and some refreshments.
Overall I’d give both Carton House and Your Golf Travel 9/10.
The golf courses were in good condition and we preferred the O'Meara to the Montgomerie, which we felt was a bit long and not as interesting as the O'Meara.
The hotel is impressive with great facilities and the 19th is really nice, with a terrace over looking the course / estate; one of the best places I've had a drink after golf and well recommended!
This historic manor house offers a modern and comfortable interior and bedrooms. The staff were all courteous and helpful and the facilities are second to none.
Despite a very wet spell prior to our arrival the two golf courses were fantastic. The Montgomerie Course is set up well for big hitters whereas the O’Meara course, the better of the two in my opinion, offers an excellent balance of risk and reward and some great signature holes featuring water. Most agreed that the O’Meara was by far the better course, with a good variety of challenges, however I would highly recommend both to anyone...this really is the perfect place to take a golf break!
Many thanks to Your Golf Travel for your help, we all had a great time and enjoyed every round.
I would be more than happy to review the trip but it would be unfair not to remark on the manner in which you arranged things. It was flawless and a credit to YGT and I will certainly be in touch for next year’s trip.
Both courses at Carton House were in excellent condition and a pleasure to play. The hotel was superb too, with members of staff who were friendly and accommodating to the extreme. The Coach House bar / restaurant was ideal and the food was good value and of a high standard too.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Carton House to anyone. It is a beautiful place and even if you have a bad day on the course you can make up for it by enjoying the hotel facilities which are second to none.
As for YGT, for years I have spent ages organising golf
trips for my society...never again! YGT is the way forward.
As you may know I have booked my annual Celts & Roses golf trips to Spain, England & Ireland and have always been impressed with yourgolftravel’s management of the details. You need to have a level of trust when travelling abroad that people will actually pick you up from appropriate flights & also return you on time & we’ve never been disappointed yet. With regards our trip to Carton House, the service from the YGT team was as excellent as ever.
The Montgomerie course is a really tough course for even mid handicappers & we could see why it’s been host to the Irish Open on several occasions. An ‘inland links course’, the Montgomerie was in superb condition, with multitudes of bunkers and fabulous greens where accurate shooting & putting confidence are absolutely key to a decent round.
We also played the O’Meara course that was more friendly to our group, reflected by better scoring. This was also in superb condition with magnificent views & scenery as per the Monty.
We stayed in the magnificent Carton House hotel so you literally walked out of the hotel onto the golf courses – it doesn’t get any more convenient! The hotel rooms, swimming pool, sauna, Jacuzzi, steam room were all first class. In fact, it would be a great place to go without even playing golf as the extensive grounds were great for running, cycling or walking – very beautiful Irish scenery.
When in Ireland the welcome is always good & the 19th including the patio area was busy, but service via waitresses was good. Our group somehow managed to get roped into an ‘Ice-Bucket-Challenge’ & the staff were very accommodating of this request (by the way we raised €1,000 for a local ‘Saplings’ charity – so people were very generous).
Breakfast was very good too and the only downside for me was on the Friday evening when we had to wait until 10pm for dinner (booked for 8pm) so very late to eat. There were two weddings & clubhouse was full of people so we believed they couldn’t cope with all of this.
I found out the day after that some of the people’s food was cold & choice was not massive for even a set meal. For this reason alone I can only give a rating of 9/10 – but if it wasn’t for that factor for sure it was a 10/10 experience.
Would I recommend this place & your company to a friend? I already have!!
A really superb trip! Carton House is an easy location to get to and the resort has vast grounds which were impressive, as well as two very different courses.
The Montgomerie is very much a links style course, with loads of very deep pot bunkers. We played it in very windy conditions and it was a stiff challenge!
The O’Meara is more of a parkland layout, with more forgiving bunkers (there are still a substantial number of them!) and some really beautiful holes on a lovely course!
Rooms in the hotel were excellent, as we're reception staff. Breakfast provided really good variety and quality of food.
The clubhouse food was good quality too and at a reasonable price.
Many of the party were so impressed with the venue and courses offered for the exceptionally good price they suggested they would like to do it again!
I’ve just returned from Carton House and would urge any golf lover to visit this venue in the near future.
The O'Meara course was most beautiful, with an astonishing stretch around the 14th,15th & 16th holes. The Montgomery, although not as naturally beautiful, posed a different, tougher challenge and left us all (handicaps raging from 1 to 6) scratching our heads many times! Both courses were in terrific condition.
The hotel and its facilities were truly stunning throughout;
so tasteful. The only thing which
we found less than five star was the food which, whilst was most acceptable, wasn't quite as you'd expect from such a quality establishment.
We all hope to return next year and thank you YGT for your
professional input too.
Everyone enjoyed their golf trip to Carton House and were very impressed with both the courses, and the accommodation. The two combined made this one of the best value for money trips I’ve ever been on.
Both golf courses are completely different but the standout holes for me were 14 through to 16 on the O’Meara course, with the approach shot on the 15th being truly stunning.
Yourgolftravel’s organisation of the weekend was second to none, with no problems at all throughout the trip. In fact, it took about minute to check in as everything was sorted before we arrived.
If I have any criticism of the weekend it would be slow
play, with the O’Meara taking 5 hours 15 minutes and the Montgomerie taking
5 and a half hours. I appreciate that the course was very busy but I
never saw a ranger in the two days we played. It’s only a small complaint and
in no way did it spoil our experience though and I would return to Carton House in
Just wanted to take the time to thank YourGolfTravel for a great golf trip to Carton House.
The 2 courses at Carton House were in great condition and offered very different challenges. The Montgomerie course, which just hosted the Irish Open, is a stern test of golf, with extremely punishing links style bunkering and greens which are as slick as any we’ve played on in recent years.
The O’Meara on the other hand is a much more picturesque parkland setting, much more forgiving off the tee and a bit more fun when it comes to the par 5’s. A couple of water holes towards the end of the round with the risk/reward shots really allow you to have a lot of fun on this course. My advice: play Montgomerie on the 1stday and O’Meara on the 2nd if you can.
The clubhouse is very welcoming, serving good food and reasonable value drinks. The Hotel though, is top class and worthy of the high reputation it has. The rooms are very comfortable and free wi-fi is always a bonus.
The location is perfect too; close to Maynooth for a night out and not too far from Dublin if you feel like travelling a bit further.
My overall verdict? For the deal we got, we would give this place 10/10 and will certainly be back next year, booking with YGT, and bringing a few more golfers with us.
What a cracking week end we had at Carton House! Both golf courses were in superb shape. The Montgomerie is a monster and a real test of golf, with more sand on it than the sea side and the 15th and 16th holes on the O’Meara are 2 of the prettiest holes we have ever played.
The hotel facilities are excellent too and the 'apres golf' in Maynooth town is entertaining. Beer is a bit expensive but you’re on holiday so just enjoy it!
I couldn't recommend Carton House highly enough so big well
done to yourgolftravel.com for putting it together.
Just wanted to say thank you for the professional service yourgolftravel provided. Our trip to Carton House was a blast!
Just one and a half hours drive from Northern Ireland, Carton House is a real hidden gem and both golf courses were in excellent condition for late February.
Normally this type of venue is off limits to all but the well healed but at £99 for three rounds of golf and Bed and Breakfast, it’s an absolute steal.
Staff were more than friendly both in the hotel and golf club and were very flexible in terms of tee off times. We waited an extra hours on the first day for the rain to clear and then had two days of glorious golf.
We loved the O’Meara course after an amazing breakfast in the hotel. With its own amen corner at 14, 15, and 16, around and over the river, it’s the sort of course you dream about playing.
Thanks once again and I would highly recommend both Carton
House and yourgolftravel.com
to anyone looking to book a golf break.
Many thanks to YGT for handling the booking for our golf holiday at Carton House. Everything went very smoothly and even the weather was very kind to us for our round of golf!
The hotel gave us a lovely room and we really enjoyed our breakfast too. Thanks for your efficiency...we also very much appreciated the golf balls that we received a few days later in the post.
We certainly hope to book another golf trip with you guys in
the near future.
