The Castleknock Hotel and Country Club sits in Dublin's leafy Castleknock suburb, right beside Phoenix Park and handy for the best of Dublin. You're around 20 minutes from Dublin Airport and roughly 15 minutes from the city centre, which makes it a very straightforward base for a quick golf break, a society weekend or a stay that mixes golf with nights out and sightseeing.
This is a modern four-star hotel with 190 contemporary rooms and an 18-hole parkland course on site. Food-wise, Earth & Vine is the smarter option, with a farm-to-fork style menu and views across the course. For something more relaxed, 22 Bar & Restaurant covers breakfast and casual dining in an open-plan space with booths, while The Lime Tree Bar and the sun terrace are ideal for a post-round pint or cocktail.
If your group likes a bit more than just golf, you're well covered. There's a leisure centre with an 18-metre heated pool, a separate children's pool, gym, aerobics studio, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi, plus a purpose-built spa offering Elemis and VOYA treatments. The hotel also caters well for corporate trips, with 13 meeting rooms hosting anything from small gatherings to larger conference groups of up to 350 delegates.
Who is this for?
Golfers who want a stress-free Dublin base with on-site golf, good leisure facilities and easy access to the city for a proper night out.
Who is it best for?
Societies and mixed-ability groups who like having everything in one place, plus anyone flying in and out of Dublin Airport and squeezing in golf, Guinness and a spa session.

As you would expect, this is some of the most attractive ground around the city, and now boasts a beautiful 18-hole championship golf course. Visiting golfers must negotiate some tough holes, many of which are guarded by the numerous lakes, while the putting surfaces are vast, but well-maintained.
The signature hole at Castleknock is without doubt the charming 13th, a dazzling par-3 over water that challenges the golfer's bravery.
Temple Bar is where all the action happens in Dublin, which countless bars and clubs located in a buzzing atmosphere.
Rooms at Castleknock are modern and comfortable, with flat-screen TVs and complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi as standard. Bathrooms come with power showers, bathtubs and underfloor heating, which is a nice touch after a wet-weather round. If you're travelling as a group, upgraded room categories can be worth it for the extra in-room comforts, including Smart TVs, Nespresso machines and premium sports channels for catching live golf and football in the evening.
The hotel was named AA Irish Hotel of the Year in 2014 and sits in landscaped grounds with the 18-hole parkland course running through the property. The course itself is a solid test for mixed-ability groups, with enough variety to keep things interesting without being overly punishing. It's a good option if you want to get a round in before heading into the city or if your group prefers the convenience of rolling straight from breakfast to the first tee.
On the relaxation front, the leisure centre includes an 18-metre heated pool and a separate children's pool, plus a gym and studio space if you want to loosen up before teeing off. The spa offers a full treatment menu using Elemis and VOYA products, so it also works well for couples' trips or mixed groups where not everyone wants 36 holes a day.
For food and drink, you have two clear options on site. Earth & Vine is the more refined setting, with course views and a contemporary European-style menu covering lamb, pork, fish and vegetarian dishes. The restaurant won 'Best Place to Eat' at the Fingal Dublin Business Excellence Awards for two consecutive years, so it's a reliable choice if you want something a bit smarter after your round. For a more casual vibe, 22 Bar & Restaurant is the easy-going choice for breakfast, lunch and an all-day menu. The Lime Tree Bar is your go-to for cocktails and a relaxed nightcap, and the terrace is a great shout when the weather behaves.
Logistics are straightforward. There's ample free parking on site, and public transport links nearby make it easy to head into the city between rounds for Temple Bar, the Guinness Storehouse or dinner in town. The combination of on-site golf, strong facilities and proximity to Dublin's nightlife makes Castleknock a practical choice for societies and groups who want a bit of everything without spending half the trip in a minibus.

Martin always comes up with the goods when we book with him and this trip was no exception - great hotel overall - and he also arranged ferry crossings on top. Nice work !

The room was a bit small and the shower was tiny (I had great difficulty turning around in it). Clean enough though. Bars and restaurants are very nice.

Castleknock Hotel is about 45 mins from Dublin Airport. The hotel is great with super staff and facilities. Very very busy and slightly limited menu. The golf course is next door and the club house some 600 yards away. They were very helpful and we were able to get a buggy to transport our clubs.

We got extremely fortunate with the weather, 19 degrees and dry. The course was immaculate and challenging enough for a group of mid to high handicappers. The 9th & 18th with a shared green was my personal favourite. Would highly recommend.

Not the fault of the course at all as it looked stunning with great facilities, was never going to be a great round with a weather warning before tee time but it’s the chance you take with golf in March time.

The course is lovely and is in very good condition. Well suited to a variety of handicaps as there is a good mix of difficult holes and average holes. Greens were very good and the course is generally very tidy. I cannot say the same for the gents toilet/locker room. The sinks were filled with water which was not getting away and the bin and surrounding area were full of used hand towels.

Great course, slightly difficult for me as a beginner but my playing partners managed it well. We have not met the quality of the greens before and had difficulty mastering them. On the first day ( of 2 ) we were stuck behind a ladies match , who were not good , and held up having to wait on every tee , cost us an hour . The second game was great and we took 4 hours. The water and rushes were a challenge !

I play off 9hcp the course was in excellent condition. Greens were best I played on for a long time and I've played a lot of good courses. Fairways well maintained and lush. Weather was dry and sunny which helped.Greens undulating and true a good test.

Another excellent course in very good condition and held up well when we hard a downpour in the last hour of our round! Staff again very welcoming. The bar and catering facilities where closed on the day we played (Monday) which was a little disappointing. However a short walk away is the Castleknock Hotel which we used instead which again was excellent.
