Halmstad's North Course was the venue for the 2007 Solheim Cup, and sits at the head of Sweden's somewhat surprising crop of outstanding layouts. Tylösand, a promontory jutting out into the Kattegat Strait towards Denmark, is the idyllic basis for Halmstad, and was once used for the less serene purpose of military training.

Today however, Halmstad is a beautiful championship course, formulated from a composition of Rafael Sundblom's 1935 design and nine new holes added by Nils Sköld in 1963. In stark contrast to the serenity which pervades throughout the rural setting, Halmstad is a demanding test; dog-legs, ravines, burns, humps and mounds all traverse the sumptuous sandy soil with magical results.

The golf course is a known favourite with the elite of professional golf, and has in fact hosted a number of tour events in addition to the Solheim Cup. Those fortunate enough to follow in those famous footsteps will undoubtedly be enchanted by Halmstad's peaceful atmosphere and beautiful surroundings, not to mention the truly outstanding golf course.
