1 Night, 1 Round
- 1 Night Dinner, Bed and Breakfast at St Pierre Marriott Hotel & Country Club
- 1 Round at Old Course
1 Night, 1 Round
Just across the River Severn in the Monmouthshire countryside, Delta Hotels by Marriott St. Pierre Country Club delivers the full UK golf resort package: two parkland courses on site, a historic manor house setting and enough off-course kit to keep non-golfers happy too. Set across 400 acres, it's a proper escape once you arrive, yet still an easy run for most groups coming from the South West, the Midlands or South Wales.
The golf is the main pull. You get two contrasting layouts, so a weekend here doesn't feel like rinse and repeat. The Old Course is the big name, a strong championship test and former host of the 1996 Solheim Cup. The Mathern is the friendlier option, ideal for a looser afternoon match or anyone in the group who'd rather keep the card intact. Both are classic tree-lined parkland, the sort of golf that rewards good driving and sensible club selection into the greens without asking you to carry forced carries or navigate water on every hole.
Off the course, expect comfortable four-star facilities: an indoor pool and spa area, a well-equipped gym and floodlit tennis courts. When the golf's done, the Cast Iron Bar & Grill is an easy shout for a relaxed dinner, while the Trophy Bar is the natural spot for a post-round pint with views over the Old Course finishing hole. The hotel itself is housed in a striking 14th-century manor, so there's genuine character to the place without it feeling stuffy or overly formal.
Location is one of St Pierre's strongest cards. You're only 25 minutes from Newport and 40 minutes from Cardiff, with easy motorway access from the M4, M5 and M50, making it one of the most accessible parkland resorts in South Wales. The estate's 400 acres mean you're surrounded by countryside once you arrive, but you're never far from a decent meal, a spa treatment or a comfortable room when the golf's done for the day.
Who is this for?
A convenient UK resort break where you can play 36 holes, eat well on site and recover in the spa without overthinking the logistics.
Who is it best for?
Mixed-ability societies, couples mixing golf with spa time, and anyone who wants to tick off a genuine Solheim Cup venue.

St. Pierre's Old Course is one of the best parkland layouts in the country, and is a recognised tournament host, having welcomed the top LPGA professionals for the Solheim Cup in 1996. The course has now matured nicely into a genuine challenge for even the best golfers, with some particularly memorable holes.
A round on the old reaches a crescendo with the superb closing two, where visitors must negotiate the 17th green, almost surrounded by an expansive water hazard, and the final hole's difficult elevated green.

The neighbouring Mathern Course, although considerably shorter than the Old, is an extremely enjoyable layout. It is parkland in style, but players must also tackle the mature trees that provide obstacles on many holes. Opened in 1975, the Mathern continues to delight visitors with some very good golf, and even better views of the surrounding Monmouthshire countryside.
If you fancy a flutter, the race course at Chepstow has regular meetings, and is within a short drive of the resort.

Set within a beautifully restored 14th-century manor house, the accommodation at Delta Hotels by Marriott St. Pierre Country Club strikes an impressive balance between period charm and modern four-star comfort. The building's original stonework, high ceilings and classic architecture give the place real character, while inside you'll find spacious, well-furnished guest rooms fitted with everything you'd expect from a Marriott property: quality bedding, work desks and flat-screen TVs.
Rooms are designed with space and comfort in mind, ideal after a long day walking 36 holes across the estate's two courses. Standard doubles and twins are generous in size, while upgraded options include larger executive rooms and suites with separate seating areas, perfect for groups or families who want a bit more room to spread out. Many rooms offer views across the surrounding parkland or towards the courses themselves, a nice touch if you're the sort who likes to study tomorrow's round over breakfast.
Dining is handled across two main venues. The Cast Iron Bar & Grill serves relaxed, quality meals in a laid-back setting, ideal for groups who want good food without the formality. For something more casual, the Trophy Bar overlooks the Old Course's 18th green and is a popular choice for a post-round drink thanks to the views over the finishing hole. Both venues are geared towards easy, crowd-pleasing resort dining that works well for golf groups, with the Trophy Bar in particular offering big windows that frame the action as groups finish their rounds.

The hotel's leisure facilities are a genuine highlight. The on-site spa, The Beauty Rooms, offers a full menu of treatments including massages, facials, body scrubs, manicures and pedicures, making it easy to recover from a tough round or simply unwind mid-trip. There's also an indoor swimming pool, spa bath, sauna and steam room, plus a well-equipped gym and floodlit tennis courts if you're after something more active between tee times.

No conditioning made the room virtually inhabitable. The water pressure was do low that it didn't reach your body. The drinks are very over-priced, which is standard but still feels like opportunistic profiteering. The food was OK, but a limited menu, clearly designed to be easily reproduced with little expertise.

A lovely hotel and the staff were wonderful. However the room was starting to show some signs of wear and tear which did not detract from the overall stay but was noticeable.

Absolutely brilliant. The resort has everything a group of golfers needs for their trip. Two great Courses, rooms were lovely & clean, good food & bar area great for a few beers. Only disappointing thing was it poured down on Tuesday so we got soaked. Better on Wednesday & Thursday was nice & sunny. Can't blame anyone for the weather though. If only we'd booked for this week. My group have been several times to St Pierre & its a great resort. We will return in the future. And we'd recommend to any golfers. Thanks to YGT for arranging.

Great course but quite a few hazards which not having played the course before caught us all out.

As a 65 year old high handicapper I do not often play courses of this quality. I thoroughly enjoyed it but it was challenging.

Not quite as difficult as the Old Course but still a good test.
