I would like to thank you for our recent golf break to penina organised by you. The hotel was fantastic and welcoming as was the golf, and good weather made it an enjoyable trip! We hope to book many more golf trips through yourself! Thank you again,
Lee Owen
Just got back from the golf holiday you helped to arrange at the penina hotel on the Algarve. My friends and I had a super time, all the arrangements were spot on and the hotel was superb. Will definately be arranging something next year and will be using your firm. Many, many thanks,
Eleanor Brooks
Just wanted you to know that we had a wonderful golf holiday in Portugal. The weather and the golf were brilliant. We would definitely go back next year if the same deal was available. Thanks for your help with the organisation. Best Wishes,
Carolyn Stokes
Just got back from our golf holiday in Penina and we thought it was absolutely brilliant.
First impressions are always important and we got off to a great start. The transfer was awaiting our arrival in the airport so there was absolutely no waiting around and we were at the hotel before we knew it!
The hotel itself was lovely and we made full use of the spa and leisure facilities when we weren’t on the golf course! The staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful. The prices for food and drink etc at the hotel were expensive but nothing more than you would expect to pay at a five star resort with such a good reputation. The exchange rate offered at the hotel wasn’t the best so we would advise future visitors stock up on Euros before leaving the UK.
The Championship Course was amazing and I thought it was the best I had ever played. Some of the other guys were complaining about grass clippings being left on the fairways but other than that no complaints at all. It is easy to understand why so many professional tournaments have been played here. I hadn’t realised Sir Henry Cotton was the designer and that enhanced my opinion of the course. Apparently it was the first course built on the Algarve and it certainly has a very mature and established feel to it.
The service we received from You Golf Travel was superb and we will definitely be coming back to you for our next Jolly!
8/10 for the course, 10/10 for transfers, and 9/10 for the hotel...can’t get much better than that!

Here is a quick review of my Algarve golf break at the Penina resort.
We played the Championship Course and thought it was excellent. The views were amazing from all over the course and from tee to green it was perfectly maintained. It is definitely a thinking man’s course as it requires accuracy and planning over brute strength and ignorance! The marshals are very attentive and seem to be adept at politely reminding groups of the speed of play.
The clubhouse was pricey but what would expect from a five star resort? The food and drink do live up to the price tags though which is important when you’re paying top dollar.
The hotel has everything you would expect from a five star establishment: the rooms are well appointed and kept clean and tidy every day by the maids and the facilities seem to be endless and are all top quality. We particularly enjoyed using the sauna followed by a dip in the outdoor pool. This was the perfect way to chill out and freshen up after long round of golf.
The practice facilities at Penina are amazing and coupled with the course they make it a golfer’s paradise.
I hired a car with GPS and everything was in order and on time.
The resort was easy to find with the GPS and there was plenty of parking available. The service I have received from everyone at Your Golf Travel has been exemplary and I will be back in touch for my next golf break.
I will also be recommending your company to any golfers I know who are looking to arrange a golf holiday.
I would give the resort an 8/10 purely down to the price of some of the more basic food and drink items like on course soft drinks but apart from that I have no complaints at all.
Andrew
Many thanks go to Your Golf Travel for organising our Algarve golf break and for your quick and professional responses to the last minute changes I made.
A totally great golf experience was had by all parties on the golf holiday and hopefully will be able to play these golf courses again in the near future. The whole golf trip ran like the proverbially Swiss watch. Even the Norse Gods sent a volcanic ash cloud to annoy some other part of the world so that our flight could take off on time!
The Penina Resort I can honestly say is the best venue my little golf society has experienced in our 31 years of existence...a truly magnificent golf holiday venue! The hotel certainly lived up to its five star reputation as the accommodation, facilities and service were second to none. Food and drink, of which my friends and I are enthusiastically consumed in excess, was spectacular. There is only one other place in all my golf holidays abroad that has come close to the variety, quantity, and quality available at breakfast. Drink prices were expensive, however we were under no illusion what to expect. Maybe a happy hour to entice us to stay a little longer in the early evening would ease the pain!
The golf courses we played were immaculate and that goes for the grounds around the hotel. As one of my friends said where else would you see a grounds man at 7.00 am picking a leaf off the lawn because it was out of place?! This level of attention to detail suggests they take their reputation very seriously and that is reflected in the service provided throughout the golf resort.

For several years now I’ve booked with Your Golf Travel to create our very special annual blow out. Why? Simple...unbeatable levels of customer service and value for money on the golf holiday packages you provide.
Our group returned to the Penina Resort in Portugal for the second year running for our 2011 summer golf break and once again were not disappointed. As Your Golf Travel had arranged everything including the hotel transfers and tee times I knew that, barring any major disasters, all would go to plan. With a one off trip like this, high expectations are the norm and I refuse to let my group down by taking any chances with the arrangements.
Our driver was waiting for us at the airport; the hotel was expecting us; our rooms were ready; the tee times were booked and the vouchers for dinner were presented on arrival. The package deal our booking agent from Your Golf Travel put together was great value for money. The 5* resort together with the oldest course in the Algarve provide a such a great combination for our group, which is why we came back. Sure the beer and lunch time snacks are expensive, but the service from the hotel staff cannot be questioned and we felt like we had the run of the place. The hotel staff allowed us to check out late on our final day which put the icing on the cake...oh...and I challenge anyone to find a better breakfast than was served up each day for 14 hung over lads! Sure we’d prefer to play different golf courses during our trip, but when presented with this Sir Henry Cotton gem in such good condition it’s hard to think why we’d bundle ourselves into a minibus in the midday sun to go play somewhere else!
Overall we all rated our 2011 Algarve golf trip as a 9/10. There is always room for improvement, not sure from where to be honest but we’ll keep looking! Expect a call for our 2012 golf break!

We have just returned home from our golf holiday at the Penina Golf Resort in Portugal. This was not the first time we have been on a golf trip to Penina and it was as good as always.
The Hotel is still very nice and remains at the top of our list of places to stay on an Algarve golf break. We ate out locally in the evenings and as usual the food on offer was delicious. There are plenty of dining options at the resort but in a bid to sample the local culture and save a bit of money we prefer to be out and about. As always the staff at the hotel were first class and made us feel very welcome.
The Championship golf course at Penina is awesome and is a firm favourite among our group. We also played the O’Connor Course at Vilamoura which was also a brilliant golf course and one that has made us keen to try all of the Oceanico Vilamoura courses.
The overall verdict was an extremely positive one although having been many times before we didn’t expect anything less!
This was however the first time we had booked through Your Golf Travel and everything was well organised and the booking process was quick and easy. Value for money was also top notch so we will be coming back to book future golf holidays with you.

My family and I recently went on a golf trip to the Penina Resort in Portugal and had a thoroughly enjoyable time. My husband was the golfer and he said the golf courses were fantastic, particularly the Championship Course. Even form my untrained eye could tell they were in immaculate condition. He did comment on a bit of slow play but no other complaints.
The Sir Henry Cotton bar which I presume is their 19th hole was as good as usual. The staff are very pleasant and attentive in there. The food was also good. The staff in attendance around the pool area were fantastic as were the facilities in the Penguin Village for the kids.
The hotel staff in general were very nice. I booked us in to the L’Arlecchino restaurant one evening via Reception and the meal was really good.
Overall therefore I would say that Penina is a delightful hotel and the facilities, cleanliness, staff etc are spot on. For the discerning golfer it seems like a haven and is clearly a great venue for an Algarve golf break. It is also a fantastic option for families travelling with a golfer in the midst!

This is our 11th year on tour and our 3rd golf break to Penina with Your Golf Travel. A group of 16 of us from Knock Golf Club in Belfast with Handicaps ranging from 8 – 28 travelled this year and it was fantastic. Having experienced pretty much everything else that the Algarve has to offer we still find ourselves returning to Penina year after year.
The hotel is brilliant and right on the golf course which is also top class. The hotel and golf club staff members are all very friendly and make the holiday as relaxing as possible. Food and drink is top quality and the buffet breakfast is always excellent...and much needed after a night on the beers!
The golf on offer is excellent with the superb Championship Course and the challenging Resort Course catering for all handicaps.
The local town of Alvor is accessible by taxi which will only set you back about 8 Euros. This is a great place to explore if your are after a spot of dinner or a few drinks away from the resort.
The service from Your Golf Travel was very good and we will continue to book golf holidays with you as you are guaranteed good value for money and fantastic service. Other golfers in our party also use YGT for their golf breaks.
