I visited Dublin for a short golf break last month with a colleague and two clients and wanted to thank YGT for a good holiday.

We played County Louth on the Thursday and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The course was in great condition and provided a challenge to all of us despite the difference in handicaps (from 7 to 21). The course itself was very quiet and is certainly is a hidden gem. The 18th is one of the best finishing holes I have played as well. There don’t seem to be any week holes and when the wind gets up it can play a lot longer than its yardage may suggest. As expected the staff in the clubhouse were extremely friendly and the food was good too.

Our second and final round was played at Portmarnock and it too was a great links golf test. Surprisingly we thought it was a bit easier than Louth. Maybe that was down to the quality of the greens which were inspiring to say the least. It really is a joy to putt on true surfaces because if you get the line right the ball won’t deviate and we certainly holed our fair share of putts. Again the atmosphere in the clubhouse was warm and friendly and the food was good.

We stayed at the Portmarnock Hotel and found the location very convenient being only 20 minutes from the airport and a short cab ride into the city. The local town was full of other golf tours so I would recommend heading into Dublin if you want to sample a bit more of the local nightlife.

We all thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would recommend the packages on offer at Your Golf Travel to other golfers. PS - Remember to pack an umbrella!

Our recent golf break was just excellent so a big thanks to Your Golf Travel. We enjoyed every minute of our stay in Portmarnock and as this was our first golf break in Ireland we were glad to have chosen such a fantastic venue. Even if everything else had gone wrong the quality of the golf course would have been worth the journey. Luckily all other aspects of the golf holiday were equally as impressive!

A big pat on the back goes to Your Golf Travel who were very professional even when we needed to alter arrangements. Everything was very much appreciated. It was really nice to learn that you are as good as I was told you were by other golfers.

Bernhard Langer was blessed with a remarkable piece of land on which to build what is now a classic links golf course. While it may be part of a golf resort, the layout is a genuine links, and with its proximity to Dublin, it is a fantastic place for a golf break.

Despite its relative youth Portmarnock Links has forged such a strong reputation that it is now held in the same high regard as other, more established, world class links courses in the UK and Ireland. The Portmarnock Links opened to great acclaim in June 1995 and has been receiving accolades from visiting golf writers and top professionals ever since. Bernhard Langer has used all of his considerable golfing experience to create a classic links of the very highest order.

Host to many top amateur and professional events including the 2008 & 2009 Ladies Irish Open, this championship links boasts all of the features inherent to a classic links course. Elevated tees, blind approaches, sweeping undulations, devilish pot bunkers and, of course, the typical links sea breezes are all present and they combine to offer golfers of all abilities an authentic and infinitely enjoyable test of links golf. The hotel at Portmarnock, set amidst its own 200-acre estate, was once called St Marnock's House and served as the private home to the Jameson family, now so famous for the Irish whisky that they export worldwide.

The luxury hotel now in its place retains the sense of charm and history, and fully justifies its position skirting the coast. With the recent addition of the new €40 wing, the accommodation options have been further enhanced.
