Views of the mountains, Rest Bay and the Bristol Channel complement the extraordinary golf course, whose original nine hole layout was conceived by Harry S. Colt. The full championship course was completed by the esteemed Philip Mackenzie Ross, who also created the sublime Southerness.

From the tournament tips, the course measures 6,728 yards against a par of 71, which is not particularly long, but it is a serious test that has hosted illustrious events including the Home Internationals. Though perhaps not an internationally renowned name, Pyle and Kenfig is a real gem, and is part of a succession of remarkable golfing venues strung along the south coast of Wales.
