Golf de Margaux's 18-hole championship course opened in January 2006, and has since garnered considerable acclaim. Measuring 6,614 yards, the course winds its way along the banks of the River Gironde, and is set in the heart of the famous Margaux vineyards.
The fairways are perfectly manicured, and are lined by ash and elm trees around a course that has been a welcome addition to the golfing landscape in France's South West. The gentle undulations are peppered with a number of fearsome water hazards, but Golf de Margaux is essentially a resort course, and as such it is playable for the average golfer.
There are some spectacular holes, particularly on the home stretch, which can make or break your scorecard on a whim. Already maturing nicely, Relais de Margaux is fast becoming a favourite destination for regular golf holiday visitors to France.
Standing on the 12th tee, your nerves are sure to be trembling; you're faced with an island green set 164 yards in the distance - anything but a pure strike will result in a watery grave!

The Brasserie Du Lac is more informal, but still serves exceptional cuisine, and has a beautiful terrace overlooking the golf course and the Gironde.
The Gastronomic restaurant bar is a relaxed setting, built into the towering space that was once used as a store for the Margaux vineyard.
