Stunning heathland golf course

The 6,432-yard golf course is right on the Suffolk coast and with it’s of silver birch trees and troubling heather patches, golfers of all abilities will be challenged throughout the round. The 3rd hole is regarded as Thorpeness’ signature hole. The sharp dogleg  left means a good drive is a must if you are looking to negotiate the challenging par 4 and leave the hole unscathed. James Braid the course designer, has definitely left his own touch of excellence on the course as the winding layout of the course makings for a stunning round of golf.

Things to do away from the course

Perhaps you may need  a break from golf, well not to worry, there are many activities away the course that you could indulge in at Thorpeness including clay pigeon shooting, golf lessons (if your round didn’t quite go like you hoped it to), fishing and tennis.

If you fancy spending some time away from the hotel, you can head to one of the finest Suffolk beaches which are only a 10-minute walk away. You can then enjoy some breathtaking scenery, or even some local beach side fish & chips.

A warm & cosy hotel

The fantastic three-star hotel is comprised of 36 rooms. Each room has a stunning view of either the award winning golf course or the stunning meare that surrounds the hotel.  Room service is available so you can enjoy breakfast on your private terrace, while you watch the early birds take on the course.

The friendly and traditional clubhouse is the perfect place for a post-round drink, while you and your group reflect on all the many highlights of the round. In the winter months, you could enjoy a nice cup of hot chocolate, sit by the fire warming up or even a enjoy a post-round snack  from the Bar menu including a classic beef burger or a traditional fish pie.

Thorpeness Hotel and Golf Club is in Suffolk which is located on the East Coast of England. It is a 2 hour and 40-minute drive from central London with its closest airport international Airport being London Luton which is a 2 hour and 26-minute drive.

    Great information about Thorpeness – one of our favourite courses. However, you should know that the third hole is a dog leg LEFT – not right as in your description.
