Heythrop Park Resort Course Review

By March 4, 2011No Comments

Going on a golf break in February was a little risky considering the recent weather conditions but must admit we lucked out, the course was in a great condition and we even managed a few scenic walks around the Resort’s grounds.

From the moment we turned into the impressive landscaped drive we knew we were going to be well looked after, we stayed in the Crowne Plaza 4* hotel where you can park the car yourself or drive up to the lobby to unload your clubs and then have the valet park it for you.

After a couple of drinks in the charming Snug Bar we retired to our room, which I can only describe as very stylish and elegant. Our one worry was being told that the health club was in a separate building to the hotel but we found that if you walked through the corridors of the 3* Mansion House it was just a few hundred yards walk outside up to the pool.

At breakfast we managed to get a table next to the window in the Brassey Restaurant, seated in large white comfortable armchairs looking out over lovely manicured gardens was one of the best breakfast experiences we have had.

The golf course at Heythrop may be new but we both enjoyed it immensely, the holes are varied and elegant with tree-lined fairways, Cotswold stone walls, lakes and even a Jesuit cemetery. The greens were especially good, probably the best we have played on in the area, and the course certainly looks more mature than it is, managing to combine memorable holes within a beautiful environment.

Overall we enjoyed our weekend break and would like to think that Heythrop will be a regular visit for us in the future.
