Laid out in the shadow of the stunning two-hundred year old, Grade II listed clubhouse at Arcot Hall is a splendid championship golf course created by James Braid. Despite its lavish country setting, Arcot Hall is easily within 10 miles of the heart of Newcastle, and comes highly recommended as part of a golf break.

The nearby Newcastle Marriott Hotel at Gosforth Park is a great base for golfers, who are sure to enjoy the delights of Arcot Hall; amid ancient oak, beech, silver birch and rhododendrons is Braid's layout, a par-70 challenge that measures 6,400 yards. Typical Braid features include the two loops of nine, with the second running anti-clockwise around the first, and a collection of dog-leg holes that make for a superb test.
