Bamburgh Castle Golf Club is perched on a beautiful piece of Northumberland's coastline, and is one of the area's most enchanting golfing destinations. Under the shadow of the imposing Bamburgh Castle itself, the course is a relatively short, yet thoroughly entertaining experience.

Lord Armstrong, who resided in the castle, was the driving force behind the course's formation, which began in 1904. Now though, the club owns the course, but the layout itself remains all but untouched from its original incarnation.
The par of 68 is a formidable target, particularly when the wind whips across the Northumbrian coastline. From the back tees, the course only stretches to a little over 5,600 yards, but it is still extremely challenging.
The unusual layout is in points tricky, but it is always entertaining, and comes highly recommended as part of a golfing escape to lovely Northumberland.
