The two tremendous golf courses at Monifieth are in interesting blend of heathland and links. Testament to the quality of the Medal Course is that the Royal & Ancient selected it for final qualifying for the 1999 Open Championship at nearby Carnoustie, and again played host in 2007.

The course has recent been subject to a development programme, under the stewardship of the head greenkeeper, so visitor can now expect excellent conditioning and quality greens. The neighbouring Ashludie Course may be short, but designer James Braid's subtleties mean strategy is all important to score well.

Monifieth is well worth the stop en-route North from St Andrews to Carnoustie.
