When it comes to golf holidays and the perfect blend of quality vs quantity, there are few countries that hold a candle to Ireland.

From the endless links classics such as Waterville, Ballybunion, and Ballyliffin that sit along the Wild Atlantic Way, to Northern Ireland’s famous coastline, home to the likes of Royal Portrush and Royal Couny Down, as well as the countless top class golf resorts within driving distance of the Capital City of Dublin, Ireland has it all.

So how do you choose where to go on your next Irish Golf Holiday?

Well with such an array of tempting options, we can really only recommend a few return trips until you’ve had your fix of golf on the Emerald Isle…but we’re going to start with the stay & play resort’s in and around Dublin, where we recently sent PGA Professional and Youtube Golf Guru, Mark Crossfield, along with a couple of sidekicks including our very own YGT Rory, to film some of the courses and show you guys what golf in this part of Ireland is all about.

Here’s how they got on…

CARTON HOUSE

Maynooth, County Kildare – 35 minutes from Dublin

The O’Meara Course at Carton House

1st up for the gang was Carton House which is home to 2 championship golf courses designed by 8-time European Tour Order of Merit winner and two-time major champion, Colin Montgomerie and Mark O’Meara respectively.

Carton House Course Vlog – Part 1

Situated in the tranquil Irish countryside, yet still offering easy access to Dublin City, Carton House also boasts luxurious accommodation and all the trimmings that come with a 5* resort.

THE K CLUB

Straffan, County Kildare – 35 minutes from Dublin

The K Club was up next. Home to two amazing parkland courses, The K Club shot to the forefront of Irish golf when it hosted the Ryder Cup in 2006.

While the crushing defeat of Team USA by Team Europe would have normally been the main headline from the Ryder Cup, it was the heroics of YGT Ambassador Darren Clarke, who had tragically lost his 1st wife Heather just weeks before the match that stole the show as well as countless hearts around the world.

DRUIDS GLEN

Newtownmountkennedy, County Wicklow – 50 minutes from Dublin

The amazing Druids Glen Resort was last up for the guys on the Dublin & Surrounding Counties leg of their Irish filming trip. Like Carton House and The K Club, Druids Glen is home to two fantastic golf courses, and its location in County Wicklow, which is also known as The Garden of Ireland, has no doubt gone some way to earning the Druids Glen Course its nickname of “The Augusta of Ireland”.

The Druids Glen Course, which has hosted the Irish Open on the European Tour on numerous occasions, is without doubt one of the most spectacular in the country and is worth the trip alone, but Druids Heath is also a cracker, offering a totally different test of golf that is every bit as enjoyable in its own right.
