Attending The Masters is at the very top of almost every golfer’s bucket lists. The sight of The Azaleas in full bloom is the signal of the start of the golfing season. As the host of the first Major of the Men’s professional calendar each year, Augusta National and The Masters holds a very special place within the history of golf.
With thousands of fans making the pilgrimage each year to Georgia, we’re going to take a brief look at some of the reasons why you should attend The Masters, although if you’re reading this, chances are you’ve already decided it’s a pretty good idea.
The Best Views in Golf
Augusta National is very much set up for tournament golf. With plenty of space around the course, crowds don’t feel, well, crowded. There are plenty of great vantage points which allow for perfect views of the world’s best, plotting their way around the slick greens and undulating fairways.
Top Tip
Buy an Official Masters Chair. This is your spot for the day, head out to 12, 16, the 18th Green, wherever takes your fancy, pop your chair down and you can return to it during the day.
Electric Crowds
With many Patrons attending The Masters having done so for generations, they have built up an exceptional level of golfing knowledge and understanding of the unique conditions at Augusta National.
This creates a special electric, yet respectful atmosphere, characterised by roars of approval (rather than the cheers you’ll hear at other tournaments) that erupt for exceptional shots. Oh, and you won’t see a single mobile phone – they’re strictly forbidden on the grounds.
Top Tip
There’s a strict ‘no running’ policy at Augusta National – if you’re caught running, that’ll be the end of your tournament.
Tradition and History
Whether it is the opening drives from the honorary starters or the crowning of the Masters champion in their Green Jacket, Augusta National has a host of unique features that are very much in the cornerstones of golf.
When you walk in the main gates you’ll stroll past the practice ground and the gift shop before finding yourself next to the clubhouse. As you continue up the hill, the 1st tee, 9th green and 18th green all become visible, the hairs on the back of your neck will start to raise.

Sunday at Amen Corner
The drama intensifies on the final day of the tournament as golfers navigate the 11th, 12th and 13th holes, a notoriously difficult stretch of holes known as Amen Corner.
This is where Green Jackets are so often won and lost – particularly on the par 3 12th, known as the Golden Bell hole. With strategically positioned bunkers in dangerous spots, and a creek running directly in front of the green, it’s no wonder that Sports Illustrated’s Rick Reilly wrote in 1990 that “more green jackets have been lost at the 12th than at the Augusta City Dry Cleaners”.
Top Tip
While Amen Corner is legendary, for the best view at the Masters, many recommend heading to Hole 16. You can have multiple vantage points with even glimpses of the approaches to 15 plus you are closer to the action.
Abundant Spring Colours and Pristine Conditions
The Masters and Augusta National has a unique and eye-catching palette with its blooming pink and purple azaleas, towering pine trees and immaculate green fairways combining in a collision of spring colours. If you thought it looked good on TV, you won’t believe what the beautiful blooms and perfectly manicured grounds look like when you’re there in person. Many of our customers have referred to it as almost being a surreal, out of body experience.
The Merchandise
The Masters merchandise shop at Augusta National, a golfer’s paradise, opened its doors in 2018, doubling the floor space of its predecessor. The shop is a true treasure trove of official Masters merch that can only be purchased on-site, from over 125 styles of hats to novelty goods like infant caddie jumpsuits and vintage coasters. Remarkably, the Masters shop takes around $70 million during Masters week. It needs to be seen to be believed.
Top Tip
Visit the shop early, limited editions sell out fast while popular sizes and styles can disappear quickly. The earlier you shop, the less crowded it will be, making browsing and finding what you want much easier.
The Concession Stands
The Masters concession stands are as much a part of the Augusta experience as the golf itself, offering an array of classic Southern food at remarkably low prices. Visitors can indulge in iconic pimento cheese sandwiches for just $1.50, alongside a variety of other snacks and beverages, with beer priced at a mere $5. This approach to affordable, simple, and satisfying menu options reflects the tournament’s commitment to tradition and fan experience, making the culinary journey at the Masters as memorable as the action on the greens.
Celebrity Sightings
From past champions to A-list celebrities, there’s always a chance of spotting famous faces in the crowd. Some of the biggest names in Hollywood, music, sport and politics are known to visit Augusta in Masters week. But if you don’t see any, you’ll have to make do with watching the best golfers in the world on the fairways!

If you want a player autograph, note that there is a no autograph policy enforced on the golf course. Autograph seeking is only allowed in areas adjacent to the Tournament Practice Area and on the Par 3 course during the Par 3 Contest.
