Golf in Vilamoura

By May 11, 201152 Comments

Oceanico MillenniumHaving just returned from our Algarve golf break I thought I would write to congratulate Your Golf Travel on a job well done!

My wife booked a four day golf break for me and she has told me your service and professionalism was first class…we will certainly be using YGT for future golf holidays.

We played three courses in Vilamoura and they were all in amazing condition. The organisation was excellent. On previous holidays we have experienced a couple of problems when golf courses are very busy. This time we teed off pretty much exactly when we were supposed to, which made organising our time away from the golf courses much easier. The courses we played were the Pinhal, Laguna and the Millennium. All three courses were enjoyable to play in their own right. Although it was hard to pick a favourite, the Millennium course just shaded it.

My son and I had already played these courses and we found our return was slightly more enjoyable as our first time round thanks to the fact that we both broke our individual course records on all three courses! My personal highlight was a very close call to a hole in one on a par three on Laguna where I was two inches away. Still a birdie is a birdie!

The clubhouse facilities were also very good and the prices of the food and drink, which was excellent, were very reasonable.

Vila Gale Ampalius ViewThe Vila Gale Ampalius hotel was again excellent value with the room, food and service good value for money. The golf shuttle services ran like clockwork as well, which always helps to make the whole experience more relaxing and stress free.

As a returning traveller to Vilamoura, I knew the area quite well but I must say I think the location of the hotel would be great for first timers as it’s very easy to find your way to all the courses and whatever other local attractions you may want to visit.

I would rate the whole experience as 9 out of 10. Thanks again to Your Golf Travel…see in the not too distant future I hope!

Oceanico Pinhal

Just returned from a 5 Day Golf Break to Vilamoura with my 12 year old golf mad daughter booked through YGT having previously booked all my own trips.

Service was excellent pre departure and options were given re various hotels.

We stayed at the Vila Gale Marina which is a great base if you want to be close to the Marina and whilst it is not as modern as its sister hotel the Ampalius, its was adequate for budget and purposes.

We played at Millenium twice and Pinhal and both courses were in superb conditions and with the summer buggy included deal plus free junior places it made the cost more reasonable.

Both club houses and facilities are excellent and food and drink prices are what you would expect to pay.

In terms of nightime the hotel is 200 yards from the Marina and this a hive of activity at night with many places to eat and drink, albeit it can be pricey.

If you want a cheaper meal stick to the restaurants just off the Marina

The weather was superb and as a golfing break you may get cheaper destinations but for overall satisfaction Vilamoura is hard to beat

  • Michael Dods says:

Had a fantastic golfing holiday in Vilamoura, 5 courses, Millennium, Faldo, Laguna, Old Course and Victoria.
All courses in great condition although a little slow due to the numbers of golfers but that is to be expected at this time of year.
Based in the Villa Gale Marina, good location, remember to book your buses to the courses in plenty of time as there were a number of groups waiting and not enough buses to take us all at the same time, suggest you get to the course a hour before your tee off time and grab a coffee before you start.
The Old course was stunning although very tight tree lined fairways but superb setting for a saturday round of golf. Thanks to Your golf for a well organised trip in a fantastic location.

  • Gary Murray says:

Just returned from a 5 day trip to Algarve.I can highly recommend the Formosa park apartments, the rooms were enormous, well equipped and cleaned daily.
We played Pinheiros and San Lorenzo, both superb and within 10-15 minutes drive of the apartments.Picked up a car ,arranged by yourselves, from Zitauto at the airport, everything went smoothly(although a bit of a queue,40 mins ,to see the Zitauto representative.
As soon as we’ve saved up we’ll be in touch with Yourgolftravel to arrange a follow up trip.

  • Gerald Alexander says:

I don’t normally submit holiday comments as they are subjective and peoples’ appreciation or otherwise vary so much. However, I must praise and recommend YGT for the deal we had staying at the Dona Filipa and playing San Lorenzo.
This is the second visit and it seems to get better with age. Hotel is “old style” 5 star with good entertainment – I actually sang with ELVIS in the hotel bar !!
The breakfasts are legendary (strawberries & champagne) or whatever your need is of a morning?
The course is playing well (greens the best I’ve played all year – shot a 74 gross (H’cap 5) thanks to the condition and pace -10.5 on stimp – of the greens) – the pace of play is about 4 hours (buggy or walking).
Good choice of restaurants within walking distance if required, although the Champagne Evening at the hotel is a must.
Well done YGT for this package and YES we will return next year.

  • brian mcgeehan says:

Just returned to Ireland from the Algarve. Having had a wonderful first time golf break with your golf travel. We stayed at the CS vllas das lagoas apartments. Truly wonderful 5 star accommodation. The rooms and service the best we have experienced. There were 17 of us on a mature stag weekend. We played Salgados and Moradora. Slagados is a course requiring exact precision with a lot of water. However the proximity of the course from our base makes up for this. The second course and club house were excellent. However the cost of hiring 2 vehicles at €160 for 9 golfers was quite expensive.
As it was closed season there were no restaurants available and therefore we had to rely on the club houses and hotel for dining. Overall a great break and will be back. *8 out of 10 for resort and golf. 10/10 to Your Golf Travel and stephen for their service. *could have been 9 but for extra cost to travel to secong course.

  • Ken Haines says:

booked 2 rounds at Vale Do Lobo and 2 at San Lorenzo and all the courses were excellent although SL was highly annoying and tough to score on when so many good shots somehow sliding off the fairway or the green into water. With plenty of bunkers to contend with this course really isn’t suitable for high handicappers.

Dona Filipa hotel comfortable but a bit out of date and nearby there are restaurants however be warned it is an expensive location with the hotel, bars and restaurants all charge big prices e.g gin and tonic at the hotel 10 euro / 400ml lager euro 4.5.

All in all it with buggies, meals and drinks it turned into a very pricey short break.

  • Trevor Wilson says:

    Hi all,
we were a party of 10 staying at the Donna Filipa which everyone found to
of high quality and in particular the breakfast which was very good with plenty of choice
We played golf twice at San Lorenzo which was in great condition albeit very tough
our third round was played at Vilamoura Old course which again was in terrific
shape and seemed in most cases favourite with our group(easier to score on).
As the organiser of our trip the feedback from the other travellers was very
positive and they all seem keen to return next spring. So all in all we would like
to thank Your Golf Travel for very enjoyable visit to the Algarve.

  • brian clemson says:

Stayed at Donna Filipa lovely traditional hotel with outdoor heated pool .Large rooms ideal for golfers .High quality breakfast slight downside 10pm finish..Golf at San Lorenzo A proper golf course every hole a different challenge.hard to better this course. played 2 rounds everyone improved at lease 4 shots second day.
All so played Pinheiros Altos again 1st class there are three nines the corks is the one to avoid the olives is a must. One downside to the trip transfers to the course`s only 1 8 seater bus available every 50 min we ended up paying for taxis about50 euros a day to get us to the golf course`s. Thanks to YGT for another excellent tour

  • Dan Sweeney says:

Just returned from a fantastic golf break to the Algarve organised by YGT.Stayed at the Vila Gale Ampalius which was ideally located 4*,close to all amenities with good food although drinks a bit pricey.Played the Laguna and the Royal and Ocean courses at Vale de Lobo.Royal was truly amazing-best course ever played and suitable for all abilities.16th hole was unforgettable. Will certainly play this course again.Transfers to and from airport arranged by YGT were brilliant. No delay at all.Golf transfers also like clockwork.Vilamoura has something for everyone.Restaurants and bars galore at prices to suit everyone.Beach bar near hotel was a gem.very good pint overlooking the sea.Spent several hours there!!!Organisation by YGT was superb-cannot be faulted and highly recommended. Will definitely book again-soon.Many thanks.

  • Dan Sweeney says:

    superb

  • Dave Shipton says:

Just returned from 7 day trip to Vilamoura with a party of 12 golfers. This was our 11th consecutive annual trip and all agree it was the best ever, thanks to all at YGT.

We stayed at the Hilton resort and all the staff are very helpful and friendly. The apartments are more designed for families than a party of golfers but this was our third stay at the same hotel and we knew what we were getting and it works fine.

Played Val de Lobo Ocean for the first time and those that played all agreed what a stunning course – the best we have played in our 11 years touring in Spain/Portugal. We booked this as a last minute addition on what would normally have been our day off, but for those of us that played it was a day to remember and we all thought an absolute bargain. Will definitely go back and play there again.

Vilamoura Old was as fantastic as ever. Faldo and O’Connor were both in very good condition and well worth the journey from Vilamoura. Somehow Faldo didnt seem as difficult as last year! Pinhal was in disappointingly poor condition. There are two temporary greens (2nd and 7th) and the course was generally scruffy/greens bumpy, not up to the standards of the other courses.

Once again thanks to YGT for arranging a great holiday at an excellent price.

  • ANDREW FRAINE says:

all the bits your golf travel organised went swimmingly. Rooms this year a bit on small side – prefer sea view with balcony but we were hardly in them. Breakfast at hotel Vila Gale Ampalius was ok but could do with freshening up a bit as we got a bit fed up of it after 3 days and started going out.

Golf was fantastic – particularly Victoria and Old Course

  • Karl Henton says:

Have just retuned from a great long weekend in Portugal. We stayed at Vils Sol Pestana. The Hotel was Clean, and the facilities were excellent! Also the staff were very welcoming and helpful!
We played 2 rounds of Golf at Vila Sol, which is a superbly maintained and tough Golf course. The Clubhouse facilities at Vila sol are very good, with clean locker rooms and a lovely bar area for an after round drink!
For all of this we paid £135 per golfer and £89 for non golfers, which is just amazing value for money!
The representative at Your Golf Travel(Jason Upton) was brilliant and recommended this lovely resort to me and his knowledge was very welcoming!!
So If your looking for good value golf and excellent accomadation, either, stay at Vila Sol or even better speak to Your Golf Travel and get yourself a brilliant deal!!!!

  • Roger Grant & 11 companions says:

Wonderful golf trip yet again with YGT. Vale Do Lobo Royal & Ocean courses were superb. Hotel good & in wonderful position for restaurants & evening entertainment on the Marina. Trip arranged excellently by Ian Purvis. Thanks again for all your help we are already planning our trip for next year.!

  • We have just returned from a great 4 day break in the Algarve, Portugal. We stayed at Formosa Park Apartments which were absolutely first class, great breakfasts too! The staff were very welcoming and helpful.
My only comment would be that the Apartments are not well signposted & SatNav does not pick up the name or Address – find out where they are before you travel!
We played 1 round of Golf at Pinheiros Altos & 1 round at San Lorenzo, which are both superbly maintained but quite tough Golf courses. Take plenty of golf balls for the re-loads after the many lake visits!
For all of this we paid £199 per golfer which is amazing value for money.
The representative at Your Golf Travel, Paddy Keeney was very helpful & knowledgeable.

All in all, a great package & a great holiday.

  • Andrew Davis says:

Twelve of us went to Vilamoura and stayed in the Crowne plaza for the second successive year. We played Pinhal, Laguna,Vila Sol and Millennium.
We had the best time – the hotel was immaculate the staff friendly and the golf courses were superb (apart from laguna!!)
Food was great and the beer in certain bars in the marina area fairly cheap.
If you want a group break then I would have no hesitation in recommending this package.
On another note we asked for a deal for the fourth course as our flights were put back and they wanted €84 so I emailed Your Golf Travel and they got us a round there for £60 so worth an email!!
    10/10

  • IAN KELLY says:

Eight of us have just returned from a 5 night golfing holiday in Vilamoura playing 4 rounds. Our party played the Old Course and the Vale De Lobo courses, one round on the Ocean course and two rounds on the Royal course.
All three courses were in fanatastic condition with both the Old Course and Royal being the more testing for our party. The views from the Ocean course are simply stunning and it too is a good test. The greens on all three courses were in very good condition.
Facilities are good at both venues however our party felt that the Vale De Lobo set up was particulary good as it had a good sized outside bar area to sit and relax and discuss where it all went wrong.
We stayed at the Vila Gale Ampalius which is a well situated hotel near to the marina in Vilamoura. The staff were very friendly, food was your usual fare but of a decent standard and the hotel had a number of other facilities should you require it, indoor pool, spa etc.
The weather during our stay was fantastic and certainly helped to make it a very enjoyable trip. There are plenty of restaurants and bars in Vilamoura and although it was only April the resort was reasonably busy. However, be aware that the prices around the marina are a bit more expensive, not extortionately so, but it pays to look around.
We have been to mainland Spain on two occasions but all agreed that Vilamoura was, in our opinion, a better golfing venue with so many different courses to play.
I would rate our overall experience as 9/10 as it is very hard to fault any part of our trip. Our transfers were on time, we started on time, the hotel was good and we never really had any hold-ups during our rounds.
We are repeat customers with YGT and would like to thank Daniel Mundle, our representative at YGT, for ensuring our golfing experience was one to remember.
Although we have just returned we are already looking at destinations for 2014 and Vilamoura is definetely one we will consider again.

  • Dave Shipton says:

Thanks to everyone at YGT for organising our annual golf trip to the Algarve for our party of 12. This year we changed venue and stayed at the Crowne Plaza based on their recommendation. This proved to be an ideal location close to the beach and Marina and excellent value for money with friendly/helpful staff and good quality accommodation/facilities. We wouldnt hesitate in recommending this venue to other golf parties.

The golf courses we played (Old, Ocean, Millenium, Faldo, Laranjal and Pineheiros Altos) were all excellent and provided a different challenge every day. All of our party agree this is the best combination of courses which YGT have ever selected for us, each with their own attractions and all different. Opinions in our group remain divided whether the more traditional Old or the more American style Faldo is the best course.

Vilamoura is an excellent base for a golf holiday and YGT take all the hassle out of the organisation booking all the courses and transfers (we had a minor issue when the fees for one course hadnt been paid but YGT sorted this with the club on the day with no problems for our players).

YGT even organised that we had the best week’s weather there has been on the Algarve in the last two months. How’s that for service!!

  • Roy Bates says:

We’ve been to Vilamoura for 20 years and in my opinion it gets better and better. The golf courses are in excellent condition and there are some very good bars and restaurants to enjoy in the marina.

  • Oscar Smith says:

We had a great time in Vilamoura, thanks for all your help organising!

  • dan the golfing man says:

Vilamoura is a great place for golf, really like the Victoria course, it is long but in great condition. The bars in the marina are open late and really lively.

  • Peter says:

We got to Vilamoura each year it is a great place to play golf.

  • craig pieters says:

The old course at vilamoura is the best you’ll get to play in the algarve, lots of really good holes and always in good condition.

  • Kevin Got says:

Best place for a golf holiday, excellent golf courses and really good bars and restaurants. We go every July and it is like millionaires golf

  • eric webb says:

Well organised by the team at Your Golf with no problems at all other than a semi-tropical downpour on Pinhal course (Can I blame them?).
We are agreed we shall be back to both the Algarve and Your Golf.

  • Ray Herd says:

A well organised holiday on the Algarve from start to finish. To have a fault free holiday is rare indeed and this one was great all the way through.
Great Hotel and golf courses. We would certainly return and will use Yourgolftravel for our next golfing holiday. Many thanks Kevin.

  • Jan Zurek says:

Just got back from our 7 night stop at the Vilamoura golf hotel with 7 rounds at O’Connor (superb), Faldo (superb), Victoria (superb), Old Course (superb), Salgados (excellent), Millenium (very good) anf Pinhal (greens were disappointing).
The hotel was as good as the last 2 times we have been, YGT organised the lot for us and it went very well, all the transfers were on time and we never had to rush anywhere. The courses were very accomodating and we even managed to change some tee times to allow us to finish earlier. We were very pleased with the whole package and the value for money was very good.
We are looking for 2015 now, can’t wait!

  • Nomads Golf Society says:

Nine of us toured to Vilamoura in May.
We stayed at the Vilamoura Golf Apartments: Large clean apartment style rooms. Great pool. Bar area very nice, beer E3.00 per pint. Desk brilliant, organising transport to and from courses which was on time every time.
We played: Pinhal, great course, challenging fairways. Old Course, beautiful, tight fairways, lovely greens. Laguna, a bit tatty compared to the other two but the water made it interesting. All courses had great clubhouses, beer £3.50 per pint and baguette style lunches available as well as full lunch menu. Well organised, starters on all courses.
Vilamoura: We ate in the town each night. Good selection of local restaurants and bars, not expensive and only 5 mins in a taxi from the apartments.
Your Golf Travel: Fantastic team. Could not have been more helpful in sorting out last minute changes to the tour party. Definitely use them again.

  • Andy Woodhouse says:

This is our second year using YGT for our golf trip and once again it proved to be very good value for money. This year four of us stayed at the Formosa Park apartments near to Vilamoura. The apartments are clean and spacious and the hotel staff are more than happy to accommodate any requests.

We played Pinheros, San Lorenzo and Pinhal courses. All were a joy to play and were in very good condition. I have played San Lorenzo on a couple of occasions previously and it remains in the top 5 courses I’ve ever played.

We visited during the last weekend in September and the temperatures were perfect, mid to late 70’s every day.

The only downside was that we played the Olives course at Pinheros on the day of our arrival, it was late in the day and the mosquitos who reside by the water on the 8th and 9th holes ate us alive as dusk descended!! We spent most of the next few days itching our arms and legs but it didn’t detract from the wonderful experience we all had and we will certainly booking up with YGT again for 2015.

  • Ann Shaw says:

Our 2nd visit to the Dona Filipa hotel and we enjoyed it just as much.

Most rooms are now refurbished and are very comfortable, the dining as always superb.

We played San Lorenzo very early both mornings, worth it to enjoy peace and beauty on our own. Our car hire was an advantage as we didn’t need to wait for the shuttle bus.

Most enjoyable. Y G T not to be faulted.

  • Paul Lawrence says:

Returned from a week in Vilamoura after 5 superb rounds of golf. My London friend and I stayed at The Crowne Plaza for the second year in a row and could not fault the hotel, its location of standards of service.
The shuttles work like clockwork with timings planned to get you to the 1st tee on time. We even changed a couple of tee times and the shuttle driver altered oue pick up accordingly!
Restaurants in the town and marina are plentiful with fantastic food at a reasonable price. The local fish and wine are both excellent value for money.
We played Laguana, Millennium and Panal courses which were all excellent though the greens were very quick and challenged our short game.
We will definitely go back again next year if the deal is as good (or better) given the strong rate for sterling!!
We think there are over 32 courses on the Algarve with 7 in Vilamoura so it is a golfing paradise.
The only advice I’d give is to hire clubs locally either at Faro Airport to in Vilamoura as both my friend and I flying separately from Newcastle and Luton were stung for booking a overweight suitcase in error and the total cost for one golf bag was £114 ouch…my friend did much the same. When I contacted the airline they offered a £8 voucher which expires in September!!!
All in all a fabulous week was had with brilliant wall to wall sunshine and fantastically friendly Portugese people.

  • Selwyn Rees says:

Just returned from a golfing holiday in the San Rafael suite near Albufeira, Algarve, Portugal, organised by YGT. It was a great success. The hotel, the food and the staff were excellent.

Right from the start, which was ringing YGT to arrange a trip for me and my friends, it all went very smoothly.

The staff at the hotel were very friendly and very helpful with anything that we put their way.

Although the beach was a 10 minute walk away the pools around the hotel were very nice.

Would certainly recommend YGT for organising golfing holidays out . And would certainly recommend the San Rafael Suite hotel.

  • Craig Lister says:

Just need to congratulate the team at your golf travel.com, in Particularly Paul Cockman. (sales exec) I have just returned from my first golfing holiday to the algarve, vilamoura, where our golfing break went without a hitch, i wouldnt hesitate in contacting you again, you took all of the stress and strain out of what could of been a nightmare, if i had of planned it just myself!!
Thank you so much guys i have no Doubt we will be speaking again soon and paul thankyou so much for the tips you gave on places to eat and things to do off the course – you my friend were a valued asset.
    Cheers guys,
    Kind Regards,
    Craig Lister.

  • Liz osborne says:

I booked a surprise golfing holiday for my husband to vila gale marina combining this with visiting the Portuguese Masters tournament.
The whole booking experience was excellent.

The hotel was very good – except as a female I felt overwhelmed by slightly boisterous male egos in the bar pool areas. Boys away without wife’s recipe for rowdiness.

The transfers to the golf courses was fairly efficient but slightly stressful on one occasion as minibus late and hubby had 5 mins to get on the course. I was assured we would be able to get free transfer to the golf tournament but this was not the case and had to spend out on taxis each way. Not too expensive but an added cost.

The local marina and area was lovely as was the weather very warm and pleasant.

My hubby said the courses were amazing he played Pinhal, Millenium, and Laguna.
    Pinhal was his favourite.
All in all a lovely break away would certainly go again and would book with YGT.
    Thank you

  • Joan Cooke says:

Just returned from our trip to El Rompedo Spain and we had a great time.

Hotel: this was friendly with clean rooms and plenty of variety at meal times. The
location is a little isolated but we did not want “busy” so suited our needs.

Golf: Good courses and not to crowded, very little hold – ups but not enough
reception staff in pro’s shop or buggy allocation area at busy times.

YGT: Staff very helpful and know their stuff. Will certainly use them again for
    another holiday in the future.

  • David ellis says:

Had a very enjoyable 7day break
    In Penina resort hotel
Only spoilt by the expensive taxis to and from faro
Unlimited golf a real bonus and not too busy very relaxed no one pushing us to play faster!
Shame the outdoor pool was closed
Fantastic golf courses 3 in total
Staff all round a great asset the hotel
Food was good in all three restaurants
    Might well return

  • James nugent says:

As the person left in charge again to book our annual golf trip, for 20 players ( ages 18- 63) i have to say that YGT took alot of the stress out of it for me. We usually go to magalluf or benidorm and have been doing so since 2002. So this was our first try at the algarve. The courses were superb ( millenium, victoria, old , and royal at vale do lobo) and from the minute we landed all our transfers were exactly on time , leaving us plenty of time before we teed off , and enough time for a beer or 3 afterwards. This always helps when trying to keep a group of this size happy. We stayed in the hotel bellavista on an all inc. basis, and although we never used the all inc. drinks much , the food was basic . At night we headed to the old town which is much better than the strip. Out of the 20 all were agreed that we will be back next year , i think magalluf and benidorm are probbably now out of the equation . Although it was our dearest trip £811.50 inc flights etc , i will definitely be looking to YGT for a quote for next years trip. Well done YGT. thanks

  • richard nixey says:

I had been to Portugal before and played at vilamoura this was the first time with your golf travel. the service was brilliant from the moment we arrived.the hotel was great and located not far from golf courses.the courses were great and we had great tee times too.we will certainly be back next year thanks your golf travel.

  • Peter Owen says:

YGT Came up trumps yet again, just returned from our 4th visit to Algarve with YGT.
Hotel was excellent again, great staff and located in perfect location.
All transfers went like clockwork, with only one slight hiccup, vehicle breakdown, which could not have been foreseen.
All courses were in pristine condition, especially The Old Course, will definitely be returning next year.
I would think YGT best marketing tool is the groups like ours who keep returning year after year.
Algarve is probably the most cost effective Golf venue in Europe from price of a pint to a quality meal.
    Well done YGT.

  • Neil says:

Great holiday. Hotel first class and the 4 courses we played were all in fantastic condition (despite appalling weather throughout our stay). Everything went well from collection at airport right through until end of holiday. Would definitely book again through YGT as our party of four could find no faults with the organisation of our holiday, the accomodation or the golf. Excellent all round trip.

  • Mervyn Liddle says:

This was the third time that our group of 8 golfers have used YGT for our May holiday on the Algarve. For these last two years we have stayed at Sao Rafael Suite Hotel on their A. I.

Not only is this a comfortable Hotel but the staff are truly excellent and the food magnificent. With 3 outdoor pools, a spa with an indoor pool and well maintained lawns and a tennis court and games room there is something for everyone.

We stayed for 6 days this time, playing golf on three days with a break in the middle to visit Albufeira on the Hotel’s courtesy bus, and this really suited us seniors.

We played Alamos first, probably the easiest of the three but still a significant challenge of our abilities. Salgados, the water course, was next and we chose to play this as a 2 team Texas Scramble. This proved to be an excellent format on what is the hardest course. Our final day was at Morgado, beautifully kept with wide fairways and large greens and plenty of well sanded bunkers.

YGT arranged everything for us, as they have done before, and our whole trip went like clockwork. Jason Upton looked after our booking, as he has done for 3 years now. Excellent service and I will be very surprised if we do not book an identical package for 2017.

  • Eddie Biddlecombe says:

Well done your golf travel you did what it said on the tin. Twelve of us went to Vilamoura and everybody enjoyed it very much. Hotel was fine, transfers are good, golf courses was super, we had a really good deal on buggies as they are on offer at the moment on the Vilamoura courses. More expensive at Vale Do Lobo but the course was magnificent you do need a buggie though as long way in between tees. Everything is more expensive at Vale Do Lobo even a bottle of water. Everybody is already saying lets do it again next near. Huw got a little frustrated with me when my lot kept changing their mind but it all got sorted in the end.
    We will be back.

  • Aidan Magennis says:

I have just returned from the Penina resort in the Algarve with eleven other friends. Having stayed in Vilamoura previously, we decided to stay and play at the Penina resort. What a wise decision this was. The quality and comfort of the hotel was superb along with the quality of food available in the various restaurants. This coupled with the Hotel’s ‘Happy hour’ between 6.15 and 7.15pm each evening; a singer each night; meant we didn’t have to worry about finding places to eat, organise taxis etc. With regard to the golf the sun shone and that’s the first thing you want when travelling to Portugal in October. The big course was in good order and well watered each day, which led to the Greens being receptive to the ball. One downside we did find was the bunkers weren’t raked in the morning and left the sand quite ‘hard’ and difficult to play out of. Other than that everything was fine and I would have no hesitation in returning next year. A big thank you to ‘Yourgolftravel’ for making the arrangements very easy and always being available to answer any queries

Booked a golf trip to Penina with YGT and it ran as well as a swiss watch. The organisation was spot on,flights, transfers and the accommodation at the hotel was first class. The two courses played, the Resort and the Championship were in very good condition and a very good test of golf. The courses were very busy which led to a fairly slow round, but, that has to be expected at this time of year. We were led to believe that there were 400 players on the Championship Course on one of the days, but that did not matter. I cannot thank all at YGT enough for their hard work and advice. It was really appreciated and I will make use of them again for my next and further golf trips

Just got back from a five night four rounds trip to Vilamoura !
As a group of 12 we played Pinhal and Laguna, both in excellent condition ( considering the amount of play )with great staff and reasonably priced clubhouses.
Weather was fantastic,22c clear blue skies.
Transfers to and from courses and to airport was always on time. Stayed at Vila Gale Marina hotel, which is close to plenty of bars and restaurants .
Big Thank You to Lewis at YGT, will be booking for next year!

    Portugal, Algarve February 2017.
Once again another brilliant trip organised by YGT.
    Let’s start at the beginning.
Transfers. To and from the airport and to and from the golf courses. We had the same driver for all of these. He was always on time and if we wanted to change times, it was never a problem.
Hotel. We stayed at the Brisa Sol again. This is everything you want. Clean, with helpful staff and indoor pool, gym, sauna and Jacuzzi. The hotel is half way between the strip and the old town. Alberfuria is a little quiet in February, but there are enough bars and resturants open to keep you going.
Golf courses. We played Victoria, the Old course, Gramacho, Silves, Alto and Vale Da Pinta. All were different, but all were in great condition.
The weather in February can be changeable, but we had a half hour shower in the whole week with temperatures around 17/18°C.
Once again a brilliant week organised by YGT. Nothing to consider when you are there, just grab you clubs and play. We would not hesitate and are already looking to book again with YGT.

Just returned from a week at villa gale impalus and four rounds of golf. the hotel staff were fautless and could not do enough to help. The breakfast was ok but not to my liking. The transfers and pickups were superb and the courses Penhal, millenium and Laguna were superb. Thanks to Robeert at YGT for all arrangements including flights will be rebooking soon.

Having just returned form our 2nd golfing holiday in Portugal, I and the other 7 of my group must congratulate YGT on the accommodation and courses they recommended. We stopped at Real Bell Vista which ticked the boxes it needed to, although the all inclusive bar closes early at 11pm. The 4 courses we played at the Oceanicas were outstanding, and the best I have played on continental Europe outside of Turkey. Looking forward to the next trip now

Just returned from a 3 night break to Vilamoura staying at Vila gala marina and playing Pinhal and Millenium golf courses all booked through the yourgolftravel team.
Everything from booking the trip through Dan Scobble from the ygt team to the day we left for home ran superbly. With 16 in our party I was expecting a couple of issues but gladly just 1 of our group bringing his wifes passport and missing the flight was the only real mishap. He did get a later flight!
I personally had played both courses before but over 10 years ago and found a big improvement in the golf courses, especially the Millenium which has matured beautifully. The Pinhal guys cleaning your clubs after your round was a nice touch too.
We have a mixed bag of handicap golfers in our group and everyone found the golf challenging, some excellent rounds were recorded though, but all were really impressed with both golf clubs on and off course. Food and drink were excellent at both courses.
The Vila gala marina is absolutely ideal for golfers, right on the marina for easy access to the bars and restaurants and just a 10 min minibus to the golf courses which ran superbly booking your transfer through the hotels reception and then through the golf clubs reception for the return transfer to the hotel.
Booking early gave us mid morning tee times and a chance to enjoy a good breakfast at the hotel after a few beers the previous night.
Every one of our group enjoyed the experience and are already looking forward to the return visit next September.
Again thanks to Dan and the team, hopefully here’s to next time.

This was our first experience of a golfing holiday and we would both highly recommend YGT for arranging a super week which incorporated a birthday celebration. We are complete beginners so it was quite a learning curve but we found everyone we met along the way extremely understanding and helpful. On landing and picking up our hire clubs from Jorge who was just so attentive at Faro airport we were all set to play, all our transfers were organised by Luke at YGT and were as smooth as could be, we were treated like VIPS’s. We played at Pinhal and Laguna which was probably a little above our play level, however, we both came back wanting to learn more, the courses were a pleasure to play. We stayed at the Tivoli Hotel on the Marina which was just first class in both service and food, especially the Purto Beach Restaurant placed right on the beach it certainly made for a very special birthday lunch. We are already discussing our next visit and will most certainly be using YGT – Thank you to all the team there.
