ISPS Handa Wales OpenThe co-founders of Your Golf Travel – Europe’s largest golf travel company – teamed up with 2012 European Ryder Cup captain Jose-Maria Olazabal to win the Wales Open Pro-Am at The Celtic Manor Resort yesterday (May 30).

Ross Marshall and Andrew Harding were joined by Celtic Manor’s Director of Golf Matthew Lewis in a team captained by Olazabal and the four dove-tailed perfectly to record a winning score of 14 under par on the 2010 course.

The winning partnership was apt as the Spanish star was a close friend of the legendary Seve Ballesteros and is a major supporter of the Seve Ballesteros Foundation part of Cancer Research UK, who have recently partnered with Your Golf Travel on the new ‘Seve Day’ fundraising initiative this summer.

An elated Ross Marshall, Co-Founder of Your Golf Travel commented, “It was fantastic to play alongside and be Captained by Jose Maria in his Ryder Cup year.
If he can Captain us to victory then beating the USA in Chicago in September should be easy! He’s a true European golfing great, an absolute gentlemen and a
massive supporter of Seve’s Foundation so we had lots to talk about over 18 holes!”

Marking the first anniversary since Seve Ballesteros lost his battle with brain cancer, Seve Day is seeking to attract thousands of participants and raise significant funds for vital research into brain cancer through the pan European golf tournament that starts in July.

Taking place throughout that month, golfers are invited to play a round of golf on any course in Europe and register their scores on the Seveday.com website with an entry fee of £25 or €30 – all of which goes to the Seve Ballesteros Foundation. On registration all players immediately receive £250 worth of goodies including a round of golf at the Celtic Manor, the Belfry, The Shire, Q Hotels, MacDonald Hotels, a golf lesson and much, much more.

A star-studded grand final will be held at The Belfry’s Brabazon course in October, just after this year’s Ryder Cup, where the top 72 Stableford score entrants will play for big prizes and the Seve Day 2012 trophy, with the winner scooping among other things a trip to the 2013 US Masters at Augusta National.
