Nike have unveiled a new series of wedges, with Rory McIlroy sticking one in his bag already, that will be in the shops soon.

The Engage clubs clearly did the trick too, as the four-time major winner took second place in the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship at the weekend.

“To me, they perform really well from the rough around the greens,” said McIlroy, who was involved in the club’s R&D process. “The ball seems to consistently get up easier and land softer.”

The clubs boast three sole grinds – Toe Dual Sole, Square Sole and Toe Sweep – with Nike’s ‘Modern Muscle’ technology coming into play to promote stability, giving a more consistent shot.

The different grinds suit different swings and course conditions, but all are precision milled with X3X grooves to deliver maximum spin on full shots.

The wedges are priced at £99 and come in a range of lofts from 50 to 60 degrees. Buy them at nike.com
