By October 18, 2011No Comments

National Golf Club ChallengeThe National Golf Club Challenge is a nationwide charity golf tournament geared towards raising funds for the Help for Heroes charity. The tournament is open to any golf club in the UK with top scoring clubs progressing to the Grand Final which will be sponsored by none other than Your Golf Travel.

Recently there was an awards evening for Help for Heroes which sought to recognise various fundraising projects that have given outstanding support to the Help for Heroes charity. Hosted by Help for Heroes founders, the evening was a real success and we are pleased to announce that the National Golf Club Challenge, which is the UK’s biggest amateur charity golf event, was recognised as a key contributor to the success of the Help for Heroes charity.

In receiving the Hero Award, the Volvo National Golf Club Challenge Event Director Stacey Jeffries commented, “It’s wonderful that the challenge won an award but as I stated on the night, it is dedicated to all the golfers and clubs that have supported our events. I’m just a guy that loves golf and is passionate about helping our injured troops; the real credit goes to all the fundraisers, golfers, supporters and sponsors that continue to make the challenge a wonderful success.”

The venue for the awards evening was Tedworth House which is to be converted into a state of the art rehabilitation centre using Help for Heroes funds. Help for Heroes aims to raise money to aid the rehabilitation of the nations wounded servicemen and women and thus far this amazing charity has raised a staggering total that comes just shy of £114,000,000; nearly all of which has been put directly back into rehabilitation projects and other service charities.

Commenting on the National Golf Club Challenge’s success, Bryn Parry OBE, CEO and Help for Heroes co-founder said, “Everyone at Help for Heroes is thankful for The National Golf Club Challenge’s achievements over the last two years. You, as golfers, have made a significant difference to the lives of our wounded Heroes and Help for Heroes thank you for your support and dedication.”

“So, I encourage Golf Clubs and Golfers across the nation,” Bryn concludes “to take up the challenge in June 2012 to make next year’s event the most successful yet. Your support has been invaluable and we couldn’t have done it without you. Thank you; we are truly grateful.”

This year’s final, sponsored by Your Golf Travel, will be held at the world famous Turnberry on the 25th & 26th of October and following two days of gruelling competition, a gala dinner and presentation evening the National Golf Club Challenge champions will be awarded with the Lee Westwood Cup. We encourage you to register your club for the 2012 event and do your bit to raise money for the men and women who put their lives at risk to keep us safe; all through a fun filled day at your local golf club and perhaps a weekend at a world class resort like Turnberry.
