As you all know Your Golf Travel are committed to doing our but for charity where and when is possible. Recently we sponsored the annual Nelson Trophy Pro-Am which is held each year at the fabulous St Georges Hill Golf Club in Surrey. This fantastic charity golf tournament, which has been running since 1927, was held in aid of the Princess Alice Hospice and consisted of teams of four golfers competing in a two best Stableford scores per hole format for the title.
Each team is made up of 3 amateurs and 1 professional and, as always, 2011’s event was well attended and hotly contested. In addition to the main competition golfers have the chance to try their luck in a number of on-course challenges that include a beat the pro hole, longest drive and nearest competitions and the popular hickory challenge.
The golf is followed by a luxurious four course lunch and, like any good charity golf day, a charity auction and raffle where participants can fight it out over a variety of highly sought after auction lots.
The Princess Alice Hospice aims to relieve pain and control the devastating symptoms that serious illnesses carry with them. The charity works tirelessly to give all patients free end of life care and nursing of the highest quality which, of course, is only possible with continued fund raising and community support. This is why charity events like the Nelson Trophy Pro-Am are so vitally important.
This year this magnificent event managed to raise a staggering sum of money in excess of £20,000. Your Golf Travel are avid supporters of charity golf events like these and will no doubt continue to support the Nelson Trophy Pro-Am in the years to come.
A big thanks goes out to everyone who contributed to this events success in 2011 and long may the Nelson Trophy Pro-Am continue to provide such great support for the Princess Alice Hospice.
