Stapleford ParkEuropean golf legend Sam Torrance has gone back to his roots by agreeing to represent John Letters, the equipment supplier with which he signed his first professional contract in 1971.

The former European Ryder Cup Captain has agreed to become brand ambassador for the Scottish company, and will wear the John Letters name whilst competing on the Seniors Tours on both sides of the Atlantic. Torrance OBE, a 42-time winner on the professional circuits, confirmed the deal during the recent Handa Senior Masters staged at the Stapleford Park resort, where he is a former golf club captain.

Torrance achieved his first win in 1972 whilst promoting the John Letters brand, and, apart from fellow Scot Colin Montgomerie, Torrance has posted the most victories of anyone without one of the four major championships. The celebrated BBC commentator will no doubt to be proud to carry the brand of the company that helped launch such a successful career some four decades ago.

Since turning 50 and entering the European Seniors Tour in 2004, Torrance has clinched the Order of Merit title on three occasions, in 2005, 2006 and 2009, and he remains a truly recognisable face in golf the world over. The signing is a real coup for the John Letters equipment and apparel supplier, and will be a significant boost in high profile coverage.
