Tiger Woods becomes a Dad Again, as wife Elin gives birth to a Son.
World Number One, Tiger Woods, has become a dad again. In the early hours of Monday, Woods announced on his website that his wife, Elin, had given birth to a son, named Charlie Axel Woods. The birth is the couple’s second child and follows the birth in June 2007 of their daughter, Sam Alexis, just a day after Woods won the U.S Open at Torrey Pines, the scene of the Buick Invitational – a tournament Woods has won six times.
In the statement, Woods said: “Elin and I are thrilled to announce the birth of our son, Charlie Axel Woods, who was born on Sunday February 8, 2009 … Both Charlie and Elin are doing great and we want to thank everyone for their sincere best wishes and kind thoughts. Sam is very excited to be a big sister and we feel truly blessed to have such a wonderful family.
“I also want to thank our doctors, nurses and the hospital staff for their personal and professional care. We look forward to introducing Charlie to you at the appropriate time, and again thanks from all of us for your kindness and support.”
Tiger’s win in the U.S Open was his 14th career major, and was also the last time he played a competitive round, having undergone surgery on a troublesome knee injury which ended his 2008 playing season. In a recent newsletter, Woods stated that his return to the course would be largely dependent on the birth of his second child, but he is expected to return to competitive action prior to the U.S Masters at Augusta
