1 Night, 2 Rounds
- 1 Night Dinner, Bed and Breakfast at Abbey Hotel Golf & Spa
- 2 Rounds at The Abbey Golf & Country Club
1 Night, 2 Rounds
Set in the Worcestershire countryside, The Abbey Hotel Golf & Spa is a handy Midlands base for a quick UK golf break, especially for groups who want good golf on site and a spa for the non-golfers (or the golfers who like a bit of both). The big news is the completely reconfigured 18-hole parkland course is now open. It's staying within the existing footprint, so you still get that mature, established feel, just with a refreshed layout and modern upgrades that should make it more fun, a touch quicker to play and still plenty of test when you need it.
The 175-acre estate has a bit of history behind it, originally linked to the local abbey ruins. Today it's a 4-star hotel with 100 modern rooms, many with views across the course and countryside. The location just off the A441 makes it straightforward to reach from Birmingham and the M5/M42, which is why it's become a popular choice for weekend breaks and society trips.
Who is this for?
Golfers looking for a comfortable Midlands base with on-site golf and a proper spa.
Who is it best for?
Mixed-ability groups and societies, most club golfers and anyone planning a golf-and-spa weekend once the course reopens.

From the championship pegs, Steel's creation measures a shade under 6,700 yards, making it a genuine test of ball-striking ability, but with hotel visitors in mind, there are tees to suit golfers of all abilities. The main obstacles en route to a good score are the mature trees that line the fairways, and the lakes which are all too ready to welcome wayward golf balls.
The Abbey Golf Course layout includes mature trees, lakes and on the whole the fairways are wide with the rough not too punishing, the picturesque 6th is a 200 yard drive from the medal tee with the green surrounded on three sides by the River Arrow. The 12th is a challenging uphill par-4 drive between two mature oak trees at 250 yards with the green concealed out of sight at the top of the hill.
The Abbey Hotel & Golf Resort has invested an additional £500,000 into its Inrange Driving Range, making it one of the most advanced practice and entertainment facilities in the UK. The new two-tier, floodlit range features 26 bays equipped with cutting-edge radar tracking. This technology provides golfers with real-time shot data and club distances, performance practice modes to accelerate improvement, and a variety of fun games and global competitions for groups of all skill levels.

The Abbey sits on a 175-acre estate with a bit of history behind it, originally linked to the local abbey ruins. Today it's a 4-star hotel with 100 modern rooms, many with views across the course and countryside. If you want to make the stay feel like a treat, the Rooftop Penthouse Suites give you some of the best vantage points on the property, perfect for unwinding with a drink after your round.
Rooms are modern and well-appointed, designed to suit both leisure guests and golfers looking for a comfortable base. The hotel works well for groups and societies thanks to its blend of comfort, facilities and location, with plenty of twin rooms available and easy access to the course and clubhouse.
The Brasserie Restaurant looks out over the course and covers a broad, international menu put together by the executive chef and his team. It's the ideal spot for post-round dining, whether you're celebrating a good score or simply enjoying quality food in relaxed surroundings.
For something more social, The Terrace Bar has views over the 18th green, a well-stocked bar and live sport via Sky Sports and BT Sports. You can catch the morning sun following a round or unwind on warm summer days with a glass of wine or your preferred cocktail on the Terrace. It's a lively spot for groups and societies looking for somewhere to gather after golf.
Lounge 98 offers a quieter atmosphere where you can enjoy everything from leisurely afternoon coffees to late-night cocktails, giving you plenty of choice for a post-round pint, a proper dinner or something a bit more 'cocktails and catch-up'.
Beyond golf, the resort features a superb Health Club & Spa. Plunge into the refreshing waters of the indoor heated swimming pool, relax in the steam room, sink into the warm spa bath or rest in the sauna. You can also make use of the gym or pamper yourself with a spa treatment using products by Elemis, making this an excellent choice for mixed groups or anyone looking to combine golf with wellness and relaxation. It's worth booking spa treatments in advance if you're visiting during peak times or with a larger group.
Situated in the charming town of Redditch, North Worcestershire, The Abbey Hotel Golf & Spa sits just off the A441, providing convenient access from Birmingham, the M5, M42 and across the Midlands. It's a straightforward run from most UK regions, making it a practical choice for weekend breaks and longer stays alike.

Getting a little tired in places.. We had a group of 18 booked in for dinner and only one poor waitress serving us all.. we ended up waiting a fair while for food in-between courses... and the food was not the decent quality we would expect...perhaps a little lazy on menus. The staff were very friendly and apart from the 'below standard' and not staffed dinner they extremely smiley and fun and didn't feel we couldn't ask.. they were also happy to keep the bar flowing at the late hour which was greatly appreciated. Perhaps some larger tables in the bar area would be useful as a large group congregating in the small area was a little intrusive for others.

Hotel in lovely setting and rooms were spacious and well equipped although a bottle of water would be good. Restaurant dinner menu a little restricted but breakfast was excellent. All food tended to be slightly overcooked

Superb location. The course has suffered from two holes been sold for building. Long walks between holes, especially on the back nine. However a fun course. Absolutely super service from pro and staff. A really top club house bar and menu in a room over the top of the spar

Extremely poor greens. Such a great layout with some superb holes to navigate... to then reach a green that has no reception for a golf ball...the ball doesn't roll when you putt.. they are not rolled or cut properly and were very very disappointing.. I was told the course is decreasing in size soon so clearly the golf course is being left to disrepair.which I think..a little bit off when groups are still paying and playing... we probably would have looked elsewhere had we known. The Tees have not been managed at all in some time too which cosmetically was very displeasing and unfortunately this is not the quality of golf course we were looking for. Definitely will not be playing here again. Wheres the chipping green? As already said.. lovely setting but now just a 'cheap beginners course'

Tees were in a bad state of repair and needed watering. Course overall was in good condition with some challenging holes. Would be a long round without buggies due to several trails through housing developments. Buggies a bit on the costly side

Overall enjoyed the course. Through heavy use and dry weather tees and greens were not in great condition - however we would return
