My friend and I took our wives (non-golfers) on an overnight break to Aldwark Manor Hotel recently. YGT were kind enough to arrange a Spa treatment for the wives, which included a light lunch and from what the ladies have told us I know they were more than satisfied with the services.
The Hotel itself is set in a beautiful rural location, surrounded by farm land and nestling close to a small village, staff at the hotel were friendly and welcoming and the rooms were clean, bright and spacious. The meal we had in the restaurant on the Monday night was excellent as was thehearty breakfast the following morning.
The Golf course which runs around the Hotel on three sides is a real pleasure to play and my playing partner and I both agreed it was one of the nicest courses we have visited on this type of break. Some of the reviews we had read said this was a tight and difficult course but please don't be put off, all though the course meanders around the house and in some parts along the river that crosses it, there are really only about three holes where you can "really" get yourself into trouble off the tee.
I would give Aldwark Manor Hotel a score of 8 /10 as a Golf destination, it would have scored higher but the Club house is a little bit "pokey" although it serves a fine line in pre-round Bacon rolls and the "Golfers" tea and coffees are great value as there are unlimited top ups.
My thanks to the team at YGT for arranging this break for us, in particular the speedy response with our initial request and the costing of the Spa treatments was of great help.
