The well-conditioned parkland layout makes use of the local landscape, cutting through avenues of towering oaks and beeches, which themselves are a formidable obstacle for those who stray wide of the fairway. The River Ure winds its way gently through the estate and the golf course itself, adding to the natural beauty of the backdrop to this gorgeous layout.
While it may not be long, there is no shortage of intrigue to keep golfers interested at this stunning golf course, not least at the ‘risk/reward' holes, including the 10th, where hitting the green in two demands a quality long shot over water.
There are also excellent practice facilities at Aldwark Manor, allowing golfers to hone their skills or iron out any creases that may arise during a round.
Don't be distracted by the fountain that is the focal point of the lake that guards the green at the 15th, surely the signature hole at Aldwark Manor.
The beautiful parkland of the estate is the fitting backdrop for the hotel, which is the current incarnation of the splendid 19th century Manor House. The 60 bedrooms are fitted out with all the modern amenities and facilities that you would expect from a four star hotel, but are off-set perfectly by the grandeur of the traditional façade.
The old manor rooms have been supplemented by the addition of the new wing, increasing capacity and making Aldwark Manor more accessible for more people as a golf break destination.
With a choice of standard rooms, as well as deluxe upgrades and suites, there is a suitable option for every occasion, while the outstanding leisure and dining only serve to embellish the experience of every visitor.
Aldwark Manor Estate offers an impressive selection of restaurant and bar settings, each with a distinctive culinary experience. Indulge in the exquisite dining menu at Elements restaurant, enjoy signature cocktails in the Squadron bar or try the Bunkers bar which is set to be a local favourite with 4 big screens, sky and BT sports showing football, tennis, golfing and more. From toasted sandwiches to pizzas, burgers and classic mains, the hotel has something to cater for everyone, served from 8am on weekdays and weekends.
Note: The spa and leisure facilities will be closing on 1st January 2024 with a new luxury spa opening in 2026. Featuring a mezzanine indoor/outdoor infinity pool; outdoor relaxation spaces, state of the art treatment rooms, themed relaxation rooms with a thermal suite including Finnish sauna, bio sauna, tepidarium, salt steam room, experience showers.

Rooms were very good. Dinner was served in a golfers bar and not the main hotel giving us the impression we were 2nd class citizens and the already limited menu (up to £25) was reduced further as the kitchen had ran out of steaks! Although it was kept open a little longer we were told the bar was closing at 10pm and we had only got there around 7pm after a very slow round of golf. Overall, only a moderate experience.

everything was exceptional, we will be booking again. My only criticism is the cost of drinks, £13 for a glass of wine, or £40 for a bottle.

Main issue was that £25 allowance towards dinner did not cover even a main in the main restaurant so ate in the golf bar, where £25 just covered 2 courses but food was limited from a griddle. Quality however was good. Spa facilities yet to be completed.

16 of us stayed here for two nights, golfing. I don’t think I have ever experienced friendlier and more helpful staff. The rooms were perfectly comfortable, the bars in both the main hotel and Bunkers Bar were excellent and the food was great as well. When the spa development is finished this will be a perfect location for a break

The Manor House has undergone a major renovation and is beautifully presented. The food is very good quality and the staff are excellent The one negative I have on the stay unfortunately is a big one for our group of golfers. We were in the Bunkers bar till it closed at 11.15 then walked to the main hotel which took us 10mins. We were told they had closed the bar at 11.15 and that they had cashed up?? There were a group of 15 guests still drinking and I said I have never heard of a hotel of this quality not having the facility to get a drink at such an early hour but they were adamant that they had finished for the night and that was that. This left a sour taste in the mouths of the group and obvious disappointment. Our group comprises gentlemen the youngest being 62 so not rowdy or loutish

Excellent stay. Evening meal and breakfast were very good. Hotel is very nice. Looks like it has had some serious investment. Only problem is the spa was closed for refurbishment which we weren’t informed of and some were wanting to use it. Overall great stay

As you approach Aldwark Manor and drive up the driveway you will see a newly renovated facility tuck away in open green land which over looks a huge water feature. The room was fantastic, spacious, clean, modern with a pinch of WOW. The bed was huge and very comfortable and the washing facilities where exquisite. The hotel itself is under going a huge refurbishment and the standard of upgrade is luxurious and when finished will be one of the top hotels in the area. The food and dinning was very good, we had the fillet steak which was cooked to perfection with all the trimmings, the staff where very approachable, helpful and professional and made you feel at home. The spa area was limited due to the upcoming refurbishment of the centre and we will definitely be returning to use the facility once the refurb is complete.

Arrived to find that only nine holes was open as the course is going through a massive redevelopment programme Shower cubicle was very dirty , cutlery at breakfast dirty including saucers and spoons ,waited ages for breakfast then it arrived very cold … ordered a steak for dinner was told I dad to pay £3 for pepper corn sauce that I ordered.. all in all not very good value for money, spoiled our wedding anniversary Regards H Aurelius

Very disappointed when checking out to be told " there is a fixed budget for the evening meal"..which led to us being charged an additional £24 per person..!! Being told in advance would have saved the embarrassment of this..The Hotel blamed YourGolf for not telling us..but equally the Hotel did not mention this when we checked in..!!

The hotel and golf shop staff were superb, really friendly and couldn’t do enough for you. The hotel was of a good standard, the food was really good, the room was ideal, but, the shower area in the room could do with a little upgrading due to mildew on white mastic around the bath/sink top. A really good course, however, the weather made for tough conditions. I would definitely recommend this hotel venue for both golf societies and a nice quiet weekend away. 👍

Unfortunately our room was not satisfactory due to Biscuit papers on the floor between the beds. A golf ball marker was in the middle of the floor on arrival at 6.30pm. Obviously the floor had not been hoovered because there was also bits of cotton etc on the floor. The beds and bathroom were ok but Glass/plastic drinking cups not in the bathroom. The staff in the hotel were all helpful but there appeared to be a shortage of staff generally. We enjoyed the stay despite the shortcomings.

Our group of 8 Lady golfers have stayed many times at this Hotel always satisfied with our experience. However, on arrival on Monday we had to wait over an hour in the dinning room and when the food arrived it was very poor compared with other years. there explanation was a conferance held in another room. The overall running of the Hotel was not up to the normal standard. This was pointed out to a manager on Leaving. Sorry for delay with our responce due to family commitments. Sunday 19th was the worst weather in months so it was hard to assess the course which has been remodelled since our last visit about 10 years ago. Very slow first round ( 5 hours) No run on the fairways due to the heavy rain which did not help us, with our average age around 70 and all mid handicaps. Course was surprisingly firm on Monday and as we were out early we were round in just over 3.5 hours. Some long walks from green to tee and we were not sure whether the new layout worked any better. The 15th with a 170 yd carry over a lake was out of reach for most of our party in the poor conditions with the ball not travelling far so a disappointing experience overall.

there were 22 golfers in our society, with a variety of handicaps, our lowest being 5 to highest 54, some holes were tough for the high handicappers, but so many feature holes. High reviews from everyone that played

No pro shop, no control of who is on the course, full of stag parties, non golfers, young guys hitting it everywhere and driving about in buggies drinking alcohol, all waste bins full of empty beer cans, even 6 golfers playing together, 4 hrs 40 mins round waiting every shot, waiting on every tee, chose not to play the last round as the course was again booked with stag party weekend. Just overpriced weekend, no comparison to somewhere like Rudding Park in Harrogate, would not advise anyone to come here for golf.

The course was really interesting with quirky and unusual aspects to many of the holes. Our group of 16 all enjoyed the challenges. The water hazards on the 14th and 15th in particular enjoyed the company of a few of our golf balls! Some of the greens in the what appeared to be the newer part of the course were a little fluffy and had minor drainage damage. All in all, will definitely go back
Ronnie

Played over 2 days Sun/Mon Sunday dry no issues. Monday raining quite heavily in the early hours of the morning and they closed the course to buggies. This caused the group some issues because several struggle to walk a game 1 x went home and 1 stayed in the Bunkers bar ( he couldn’t leave because he was car sharing). At this point I would like to mention the care and support the golf pro offered to the gentlemen. He has granted x2 game vouchers for the loss of playing in the days comp and also on our return post round the player who stayed was offered free food and drinks for the duration of the round truly an excellent gesture. The course has had a major revamp since we last played here and is fast becoming a one to visit regularly. Several of the par 4s play as 5s with the wind in the wrong direction and the shot over the river Ure to a mixed elevation landing area is a potential card killer Several feature holes keep your interest all round and with the continuing ongoing development to the course it is only going to get better!!! We will be back😃👍

Great Pro who was very helpful. Course in good condition, one green off due to heavy rain (really heavy downpour) Felt a long course on foot, fairways tight but fair, off the fairway the rough was very rough (I know)but a good test for Club Golfers. Small changeroom but not an issue as residential, we all loved it and and committed to return

✓24 May 2022
Only 9 holes open. Quality of course was very poor, scorecards never took into consideration the 9 holes being played twice, no penalty area markings anywhere despite there being plenty water. Yourgolftravel never informed me of only 9 holes being open, I had to find this out for myself. Very poor service.
Michael
✓6 Sep 2021
Due to the refurb of the golf course it was limited to the back 9 holes just over the river Ouse, the first hole was a par 3 which lull’s you in before opening up into challenging holes there after, hazards everywhere and the fairways tight, accuracy is a must as the rough was very unforgiving and a little on the tall side. The greens where challenging and fast, well kept and it made for a great experience. Can’t wait to return to experience the new completed course which looks amazing.

Unfortunately the weather played a big part in the tough conditions. It’s a really good course and it could easily have been closed on the Sunday, however we played and as well as getting a good drenching, the course was tough due to the weather and winter greens. The course was rightly closed on the Monday. The golf staff were superb 👍

The course is challenging for all levels of golfer. Some greens are hard to read and played quick but that adds to the challenge. Some really nice holes like the 10th and 18th. Pro shop has improved since we where last there and the staff where great. Nothing was a problem for them and we always got out on time. On the whole a great golfing experience.

✓22 May 2019
The course had some quirky holes especially 14 a par 5 where I couldn’t take driver as it was so tight and 15 a par 3 180 odd yards with a massive tree in the way of the green hence we all hit it!!

The time of the year dictated the state of the course which to be honest could have been a lot better. The one issue we had as a party was the attitude of the Pro who gave the party the impression that he was not that interested,if his attitude had been the same as the hotel staff everything would have been fine. One other thing although i had booked 6 buggies through yourselves they say no buggies had been pre booked.
