Built above an archaeological site dating back to 2000 BC and set right on a Blue Flag beach, Alexander The Great Beach Hotel is a smart pick if you want Paphos golf with a seafront base. The hotel has recently completed a major refurbishment, so the feel is fresh across the rooms, restaurants and pool areas.

For a week of winter sun golf, it's a strong all-rounder. You've got the sort of resort set-up that works for groups and couples alike, with plenty to do between rounds and a lively atmosphere in the evenings if you fancy it. The big win for golfers is convenience: you can get a full day on the courses then come back to a swim-up bar, sea views and a choice of restaurants without needing to head into town.

The half board plus concept is ideal if you want your dinners sorted but still like variety. You can mix buffet theme nights with Italian, Japanese and local Cypriot options, which is handy when you're travelling with a fourball and everyone wants something different. The hotel's infinity pool cascades over waterfalls into whirlpool sections, with a swim-up bar featuring extensive in-water seating where you can order drinks without leaving the pool. An adults-only Serenity Pool provides a quieter alternative, while the Health Club & Spa houses a fully equipped gymnasium and indoor pool with whirlpool overlooking Paphos's old harbour.

If you're travelling as a couple and prefer peace and quiet, the adults-only cabana area and Serenity Pool give you a calmer zone away from the main action. If you're bringing a group, the entertainment programme and outdoor Havana venue keep things moving after dark, with the in-house animation team staging Broadway-style musicals, tribute acts, magic shows and family entertainment.

If you're organising a society trip, this is the sort of resort that keeps everyone happy: plenty of space, varied dining and good downtime between rounds. Speak to our team and we'll match the hotel with the right mix of Paphos courses and tee times.

Who is this for?
Golfers and couples seeking a beachfront Cyprus base with quality dining, upgraded rooms and easy access to Paphos courses, plus families wanting entertainment and pool facilities alongside their golf.

Who is it best for?
Groups and societies looking for half board flexibility, winter sun golfers who value resort amenities between rounds, and anyone wanting a seafront hotel that balances relaxation with lively evening entertainment.

Accommodation at Alexander The Great Beach Hotel

Rooms and suites at Alexander The Great have been refreshed with modern comforts that matter on a golf break: proper mattresses, good air con and easy tech for charging and downtime.

Deluxe Rooms (Sea View or Inland View) are the go-to option for most golfers. Expect smart, comfortable furnishings with a home-from-home feel, plus a smartphone docking station, quality sound system in both the bedroom and bathroom, minibar, tea and coffee facilities, electronic safe and a 32" flat-screen TV with smart entertainment and internet access. The rooms also come with individually controlled air conditioning, hairdryer and premium mattresses that make a difference after a long day on the course. Sea view rooms give you front-row Mediterranean vistas, while inland view rooms are a good-value alternative with quieter positioning within the resort.

For couples who want a more private set-up, Garden Superior Cabanas sit in the hotel's adults-only section. Each cabana comes with a private garden and full sea views, plus bathrobes, towels, slippers, a Jacuzzi bath, walk-in shower and a 40" TV. Some cabanas also offer a private infinity pool with a whirlpool and swim-against-current system, ideal if you want your own space to unwind after 18 holes without sharing the main pool areas.

Travelling as a family or small group? The Royal Penthouse Suite sleeps up to four across two separate bedrooms, both with full sea views. You also get a private terrace with an outdoor dining area, VIP check-in, access to the lobby open bar and complimentary internet throughout your stay. The suite is furnished with luxury pieces and gives you the sort of space that works well for longer stays or when you want to spread out after a round.

Dining spans four distinct restaurants under the half board plus concept. Roxanne's Restaurant anchors the offering with international buffet spreads, live show cooking stations and buffet theme nights. Garibaldi (adults only) serves four-course Italian menus in a refined setting, Kiku delivers à la carte Japanese dishes, and Limanaki Tavern focuses on traditional Cypriot and regional specialities using local ingredients. The variety ensures golfers can refuel properly after rounds without repeating the same dining experience, while the beachfront Infinity Pool Bar and lobby open bar (for suite guests) provide all-day refreshment options between the restaurants.

Very good hotel staff couldn't do enough for you

Rooms are well presented, clean and modern. They have a window into the toilet, which is a bit disconcerting for two men sharing a twin room, thankfully there is an internal blind to save any embarrassment 😄. A complimentary bottle of wine was well received and every day we were provided with a “survival pack” containing water, juice and an apple
