Ballygarry Estate Hotel & Spa

Passed down through three generations of the McGillicuddy family, Ballygarry Estate Hotel and Spa sits on 180 acres of Kerry countryside with sweeping views across to the Sliabh Mish Mountains. If you like your golf trips with a bit of polish, this one delivers. You're right in the heart of the Wild Atlantic Way, which makes it an easy win if you want links golf by day and a comfortable, high-end retreat by night.

Two things stand out here: the food and the spa. Brooks Restaurant holds an AA Rosette and leans heavily on local, seasonal produce, ideal for a relaxed post-round dinner without having to head into town. If you've got back-to-back tee times, Nádúr Spa is the place to reset, with a full treatment menu plus an outdoor hot tub, thermal suite, fitness suite and a dedicated relaxation room.

You're also well placed for evenings out. Killarney is close enough for a change of scene, while Tralee has a solid mix of pubs, restaurants and independent shops. Most importantly, the big hitters are within reach for a proper Kerry itinerary, with Tralee, Ballybunion and Dooks all realistic plays during the trip.

Beyond golf, the surrounding area caters to just about every outdoor pursuit you can think of: hiking, walking trails, angling, horse riding, surfing, shooting and cycling. Whether you're here purely for the golf or want to mix rounds with other activities, there's more than enough to fill a week.

Who is this for?
Golfers and groups who want a high-quality Kerry base with easy access to the region's headline links, plus strong dining and spa facilities for recovery and downtime.

Who is it best for?
Anyone building a multi-course Kerry itinerary who wants one comfortable base, particularly mixed groups and couples who want golf alongside proper relaxation.

Accommodation at Ballygarry Estate Hotel & Spa

Ballygarry Estate offers 64 rooms across seven categories, from comfortable Superior rooms up to Junior and Signature Suites. The feel is classic country-house luxury without being over the top, which works well for golf groups who want quality, space and quiet after a long day walking the links. Every room is designed with comfort in mind, finished to a standard that reflects the estate's luxury positioning. Expect quality linens, thoughtful touches and plenty of space to relax.

If you're travelling with a partner or you simply want a bit more breathing room, the suites are the natural upgrade. For groups, it's worth checking what room types are available across your dates so everyone is on the same page in terms of space and comfort.

For something more secluded, the Estate Cabins sit within the grounds and are built with locally sourced materials. They're a smart option if you like the idea of stepping away from the main hotel at the end of the day, with countryside on the doorstep and clear views towards the Slieve Mish Mountains. It's a chance to step away from the main hotel and immerse yourself in the natural surroundings, perfect if you want a bit more privacy or a closer connection to the landscape. They also suit mixed groups where some want a quieter base while others are happy to use the hotel's bars and restaurants.

The estate's facilities extend well beyond the rooms. Nádúr Spa is a genuine highlight, featuring an outdoor hot tub, thermal suite, fitness suite and relaxation room alongside a full treatment menu covering face, body and massage therapies. It's the kind of facility that makes a real difference on a golf trip, particularly if you're playing multiple rounds over consecutive days and need to look after tired legs and shoulders.

Brooks Restaurant is the dining centrepiece, holding an AA Rosette and built around a farm-to-table philosophy that draws heavily on Kerry's natural larder. The kitchen takes full advantage of the estate's location, sourcing locally and seasonally to deliver dishes that feel rooted in place. Whether you're after a relaxed dinner following an evening round or a more celebratory meal to mark the end of a trip, the standard here is consistently high.

The estate's 180-acre grounds provide plenty of space to stretch your legs between rounds, while the location keeps you within easy striking distance of Killarney, Tralee and the wider Kerry golf circuit. It's a base that works equally well for serious golfers ticking off bucket-list links and for groups who want a mix of quality golf, good food and genuine downtime in a setting that feels a long way from everyday life.
