Bonalba has built a reputation as a serious tournament venue on Spain's Costa Blanca, hosting regional championships, Spanish national competitions and events on the Challenge Tour circuit. If you like plotting your way around rather than simply swinging hard, you'll feel right at home here.

The course rewards precision and smart decision-making, with well-placed bunkers, water in play on several holes and firm conditions that can send tee shots running on. From the back tees it measures a shade over 6,000 metres, but it can play bigger when the coastal breeze gets up and the greens start asking tougher questions.

The routing makes the most of the natural terrain, mixing gentle elevation changes with attractive framing from Mediterranean pines and almond groves, plus mountain views in the distance. It's a proper test for confident ball-strikers, but it stays fair enough that higher handicappers can still enjoy the round if they choose sensible tees.

Off the course you've got everything you need for an easy day: a well-stocked pro shop, practice facilities to get loose before the first tee and a clubhouse restaurant that's ideal for a relaxed post-round bite. If you're building a Costa Blanca itinerary, Bonalba is a strong "one of your rounds" option that feels authentically Spanish without any fuss.

Who is this for?
Golfers who want a tournament-proven Costa Blanca course that rewards good thinking, not just big hitting, with dependable conditioning and a friendly clubhouse base.

Who is it best for?
Mid-to-low handicappers who enjoy tactical parkland-style golf, plus groups who want a quality round with an authentic Spanish feel away from the big resort bustle.

Bonalba Golf Club

Measuring 6,973 yards from the championship tee boxes, the course can be viewed as two distinct nine hole loops; the opening half is probably the more forgiving - although there are water hazards to be avoided, sound strategy and accurate driving should yield birdie chances. The closing stretch however is more exacting, particularly the final three holes, which are more exposed to the coastal winds and demand powerful and precise ball-striking.

Despite only opening for play in 1995, Bonalba is already seen as one of the premier clubs on the Costa Blanca, and any golfing getaway in the Alicante area should certainly include a visit here.

A lot of unplayable greens. We didn't play our second round and booked elsewhere. Disappointing.

It took us 5 hours to complete our game, apparently there was a group of players a hour behind schedule that was holding players up and obviously had a back log, we was stood waiting to Tee off for at least 10 minutes at most holes which in time you loose your momentum.

This is about the worst course we have played aboard in the 20 plus years we have been going away for golf . Overall condition of the course was very poor . Staff in the restaurant didn't speak good English, and we felt the didn't want us there , told us that the kitchen was closing at 5 when we got in from playing our round , we wanted to order at 4-45 and was told it would be a limited menu as we were ordering late , why they couldn't have told us before we went out on the course , they left off some of the ordered which the waitress admitted it was her mistake , but the chief just said tuff the kitchen is closed . If this was our first trip away and we played this course , we would have been very disappointed with Your Golf Travel for recommending this course for part of our break .
