Calderfields Golf & Country Club

The room which was part of the lodge was spacious and clean. The restaurant was closed at 5.00 pm and the bar closed at 8.30 pm. Breakfast was very good.

All nine of our group were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the lodge rooms

Accomodation was clean & the beds were comfortable. Our only issue was the meals weren't brilliant, chicken wings cold however everything else was very good.

Clubhouse facilities inc sky sports, pool table and dartboard and decent priced drinks,lodge type rooms were very comfortable with tv, tea / coffee facilities.

We were a 20 man mixed ability golf society and stayed in the Calderfields G&GC lodges... and they were great! Plenty of room, good showers, over looking the 18th fairway, and only a short distance to the Clubhouse and the restaurant. Food on our overnight stay was very good. Plenty of choice when we checked in, and all the food was well portioned and cooked to perfection. Absolutely no complaints from any of the attendees. There was a wedding on in the main function room, but it didn't impact our stay at all. In fact, we mingled with some of the guests outside on a lovely balmy summers evening. Also worth noting that the beer was well priced!

Great staff very helpful and friendly

The log cabins were a bit tired. The food was very disappointing, the main course was reheated Carvery. The hotel was very busy during the day but very quiet in the evening. No sky sports so we went to a local pub fro drinks and to watch the open golf.

Great staff at the hotel. Nice hotel complex, we were in a cabin on the edge of the 18th Fairway which was a great location. Food is simple but decent enough.

From the moment we arrived we felt welcome,the staff could not have been anymore helpful,the room was good and the course was excellent, all in alla very pleasurable stay and play break thankyou

Very friendly and attentive staff, food excellent. Bar area could be better but still decent and the room (cabin) was very comfortable

Had the Sunday cavery very nice and plenty of it, the log cabins were very clean and modern

Old,dated , closed bar at 9 so we could spend the £315 credit not happy one little bit.

I hate to leave negative feedback but afraid there is very little positive I can write about the hotel facilities. The reception staff were friendly and helpful when we arrived.. it then went horribly downhill. Rooms are basic no WiFi as it doesn’t reach from hotel. Food was dreadful the evening meal was awful, slow service and they shut the bar at 09.30pm. Breakfast was a farce taking 30 minutes to get undrinkable coffee and corn flakes. Afraid it was the worst place I have ever been to

The rooms are comfortable and clean which is all I require for a golf break

Very enjoyable time and the course is very good I recommend it to anyone.

Everything was very organised and efficient. Staff were excellent and friendly. The condition of the course was very good and pro shop staff were looked after everyone really well.

Calderfields was a great venue for our trip and is perfectly set up for golf breaks, with the accommodation cabins, club house, golf shop and driving range ticking all the boxes. The members of staff were really helpful and friendly, the evening meal and breakfast included in the package added great value for money and the portions were plentiful; perfect after/before a long day playing golf. Additional extras like beer and sandwiches were not over priced like they are in many hotels which was another bonus.  

We wanted to watch the football so we also ventured out to the next town which was only a 5 minute taxi ride away which was great.

The golf course itself was enjoyable and in great condition considering the time of year we visited, with the greens still being fast and true.

I will be visiting again and will be recommending Calderfields and YGT to others.

This was the first time playing here. The tee boxes and fairways were in a reasonable condition.The greens were in a fairly poor state although the holes on each green were in a reasonable patch of the green. The areas surrounding the greens were very poor as were the bunkers. We would play there again but only if the green, aprons and bunkers were up to scratch.

Greens need a little work and bunkers a bit more sand. Nice course in general with challenging holes

Unfortunately the weather was very poor (consistent heavy rain), so although the course absorbed most of it, the pathways between holes became very muddy

Some testing holes to test all handicaps, nice flat course tree-lined fairways with some water hazards. Considering the amount of rainfall over the last few months the course was in good condition.

We were a 20 man mixed ability golf society. Fairways are quite tight, and there are lots of opportunity to go OOB on the left... certainly more forgiving if you got a slice (err... sorry, power fade!). Greens were a bit slow compared to most courses (and certainly my home course), but were pretty true. Some really interesting holes as well... it always good to drive off over water, and also to play back over water to a green. All in all, I think everyone in our society enjoyed the course and the facilities.

Nicely kept course quite hard bunkers could do with more sand in our group enjoyed it very much will be going back hopefully.

The greens had sprinklers but they weren’t working. Greens were very dry and hard, manually water during the hottest part of the day. The course was dangerous particularly on the front 9 with balls crossing fairways and nearly hitting other golfers. I would not recommend this venue, it’s cheap but not worth it.

Overall the course was nice. Lots of narrow fairways with trees in between so finding the fairway is tough for the average golfer. I think we were unlucky because there was a big society there but it meant the round was very slow. It took close to 6 hours with at least 5-10 mins per hole to wait before teeing off. Otherwise it was decent.

Green staff abysmal 1/ On the green putting, staff continued to strim the bunker 2/ 150 yards out staff decided to mow the green, we had to wait but no one behind us 3/ Hit my ball 100 yards went through the green staff on large sit on lawnmower ran over my ball didn't stop

Very enjoyable

A good course, quite tight needing varied tee shots. Some great holes. However the greens were too dry and firm to receive the ball and putting was difficult. Has the makings of a great golf/fishing resort if course maintenance is improved. I still enjoyed it and would come back. The golf package was good value for money.

Good course in good condition for time of year would be a very interesting course in the summer looks like it could be very narrow when trees are in full show

The greens had just been done so very poor greens. But we got unlucky with the timings of them doing te greens.

The screens had been tined wish we had been told beforehand as we would have booked somewhere else for second day. As we had to have a buggy it was to late. The greens were unplayable not just because of the timing, but grass and plugs all over them .. we gave up putting in the end. The round was slow, lots of hackers and no etiquette. We have up after 6 holes on second day and went home. The pro shop were helpful the one positive. Again couldn’t recommend the course.

Nothing spectacular but nothing I would complain about we all enjoyed the stay

Course was well prepared and the greens extremely fast and difficult as it had been prepared for the club championship. Some very interesting holes and easy to loose balls. Everyone in the group enjoyed it and would go again.
