0800 043 6644Designed by the well known golf architect Tom Macaulay, the Cally Course opened in 1994. Sculpted into the parkland surrounding the hotel, its maturity belies its age, achieved by using the natural contours of the land and the magnificent trees, the hidden burns and the Cally Lake.
The course is open to hotel guests as part of a golfing break allowing you to enjoy the hotel and play a round in one relaxing golfing holiday. As you play the course, there are wonderful views of Cardoness Castle, Rutherford's Monument and the Fleet Estuary. Whatever the standard of your game, you are sure to enjoy the course, and to work up a healthy appetite for the evening's culinary delights.
Cally Palace was originally an 18th century country mansion just outside Gatehouse of Fleet and is now a wonderful golf hotel in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland. Step back to a time of period style and elegance while enjoying all the modern comforts of a four-star golf hotel. The hotel’s 56 bedrooms combine spacious accommodation with views of the estate grounds and the Dumfries & Galloway countryside beyond. Two huge marble pillars frame the entrance hall, which leads into the Bow Lounge with its magnificent gilt cupola ceiling. The warmth of the Scottish welcome will impress as much as the opulence of the surroundings.
Using only the freshest and finest ingredients, the AA Rosette restaurant uses only the freshest and finest ingredients to create dishes full of flavour to make sure you receive a real taste of Scotland. The sunny conservatory is a wonderful place to relax, whether after an energetic round of golf, or just to escape modern day pressures. Enjoy a drink from the adjoining cocktail bar, where snacks and refreshments are available throughout the day.
A lovely hotel - the room was excellent and the food superb. The staff could not have been friendlier. We look forward to returning.
Excellent food, friendly and efficient staff. Large comfortable room. Perfect as a base for golfers. Hotel a little tired, typical old country house.
Staff were very friendly and attentive. Food imaginative. Room in the Forrest wing was large with a super view, although we were in one which hadn't been upgraded. Unfortunately our room wasn't serviced on our second day so we had to ask for tea tray to be replenished. No problem but it should have been mentioned at check-in
Excellent.most enjoyable weekend
Second time I’d been and really enjoyed my stay. Six golfing ladies had a lovely time. Hotel very comfortable, food was amazing, pool, spa and sauna lovely. Nice big rooms, really comfortable all round, can’t wait for next trip.
Hotel was nice but quite a long journey to get there. Food was ok but there could have been more choice and it was served as if it was on a production line due to Pandemic procedures. Rooms were fine and leisure looked nice but we never used it
The course was in ok condition, tee boxes were uncut as well as greens, you can tell it has no members due to the course conditions Hotel was ok although the conservatory was cold when served coffee and bacon sarnie on arrival Breakfast was chaotic and not well communicated as we had chosen in advance but staff had no clue what was being served to who They then gave bills under the door at 6am which were some £80 incorrect and blamed a computer error…hmmm? All in all not bad but some attention to detail is required
The staff very pleasant , leisure facilities were good , snooker table needs fixing and a new cloth but other than that it was enjoyable, food was good
Lovely hotel with loads of character. Staff were friendly and attentive and the food was lovely. Very enjoyable stay!
Welcoming staff, lovely surroundings, location. Rooms clean and comfortable. Standard of food acceptable with no frills.
As expected but reception areas in need of upgrading
The food was excellent, no negative feedback at all. The hotel itself is dated and lacks atmosphere. The rooms were uncomfortable due to the heat, the towel rails in the bathroom were on 24/7 when it was very hot outside making the room too hot to sleep. However the accommodation suited my purpose as a centre to go out and golf.
Despite covid restrictions everything was first class and the room very good.
Excellent value for money with regards to food, accommodation & golf package. Only problem, the weather was so good, going back may be a let down! 🌞
Booked a double room as this was for our honeymoon but were given single beds. Staff very unhelpful. Decor very dated and in need of refurbishment.
Friendly staff, excellent facilities
Considering the Coronavirus all the staff made us feel very welcome and safe providing us with a welcome break in these difficult times
Excellent hotel. Staff were very good and well organised with COVID restrictions. We felt very safe and in good hands. Lovely golf course and easy access and walking. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
All 5 star...particularly staff, who clearly cared that guests were happy. Great food...nice wine...and the common areas beautifully appointed. Spa..Jacuzzi sauna and swimming all top class We will be back
This is a well run hotel. Facilities such as indoor pool and sauna work cleanly to almost perfect temperatures. The dinner and breakfast are cooked and served to the highest standard. It's not overdecorated etc in country house style, but furnished straightforwardly to our satisfaction!
Very good
Excellent all round, bar could do with revamping a bit, otherwise excellent
We had a fantastic relaxing Two Days The food was magnificent. From arriving at the bar for pre dinner drinks and nibbles to the amazing four course dinner. Coffee in the drawing room it conservatory. Everything was freshly cooked and piping hot. Can honestly say we were over joyed with the food and service
Not 5 star but more than adequate
Great 3days,enjoyed by all of group. Relaxed atmosphere in hotel, good food, good room size, pleasant staff. Would be pleased to return.
Food was not good, cold, not cooked to the way you requested

Despite there having been heavy rain for the previous week and also heavy showers on the 2 days we were playing we all enjoyed the course and its water hazards! Super views.
Good holiday golf course. Course well kept but greens were very, very slow!! Course had some challenging holes with lovely views.
This was a golf course attached to a hotel. It was very picturesque and had some tricky holes. There obviously isn't the manpower to edge and rake bunkers and treat greens but we had the course to ourselves which was amazing. There is no pro shop or starter or clubhouse, all done through reception. There is definitely the potential to develop golf.
Very disappointed again this year with the state of the greens. We appreciate the restrictions with covid etc but the fairways needed cut,a number of bunkers had weeds growing and hadn't t been maintained.
Couldn’t have picked a worse week to go as it had rained all wee,so some of the greens and fairways were flooded, but nothing could have been done about that due to weather. We still managed 7holes on the Sunday and 11 on the Monday,so not beaten despite the weather!! Beautiful course all round and would highly recommend. Will go May next time.
Lovely wee course with some very good holes. Course was very wet but still in good condition. Just as well it was quiet as they only had four trolleys for hire possibly due to being late in season. No shop facilities for snacks or juice
Condition isn’t the best but enjoyable
Very tight , need to play a couple of times to know where to go , makes a change not to have to hit long all the time
Really challenging course. Lovely greens with really interesting holes. Not just a case of bashing the driver. You have to think your way round this golf course!
Good test of golf with tricky holes. Layout testing. No slope rating but suspect it would be tough.
Beautiful. Played once before and had forgotten how lovely it was.
Narrow fairways with unkept rough so penalised should you run off a fairway.
Have played here several times and there are two holes to me unplayable in par The greens were true but very slow. Buggies were very clean and efficient
The greens were very slow and patchy in places, the 10th even had a couple of rabbit holes! The rough was quite punishing, get in there and you lost your ball! However, overall we enjoyed ourselves, especially not losing a ball on the stroke 1 hole (well the last round anyway).
Bog standard hotel course, moss growing on greens, which were very slow. Lots of other courses on offer in Scotland don’t waste your time on this one.
Really good course with some excellent golf holes. Some easy but beware! The 3 par 5’s are extremely testing. Fun to play but requires length and accuracy
Nice layout and trouble free rounds. However, the weather had been very wet therefore resulting in a wet course
Very pretty course. Weather was good first day then wet the second day. Course was dry for the time of year and we enjoyed our golf.
Sadly, we visited after 2 weeks of torrential rain, so rating not as good as it could be The rain is nobody's fault. The holes and setting are fantastic. Cant wait to return if ever the rain disappears. Well worth the visit. We will be back.
This is a beautiful and challenging parkland course. In dry conditions it would be superb. We had to play after a lot of rain, so it was really wet underfoot pretty well throughout the course. Distances were long! To enjoy, simply check the weather..
Due to extreme rain it is difficult to give an opinion, 2 holes closed as so flooded, greens were soaked, therefore not a true review.
A lot of nice holes,I’ll be back next year
We had a great two rounds. Day one was tricky as we did not know the course or lay out. But day two was a dream. The weather was beautiful and we played the course with more pleasure. The whole course was in wonderful condition
Very good course for a hotel course. Greens were all very true and well cared for. Need a buggy long way between green and tee. 2 holes 13 and 15th very difficult you need to play them a few times to get the correct lines.
Not overly busy, played at relaxed pace, some tricky holes ,fast greens and lush fairways. Will probably return. Could do with more pull trolleys being available.we had to take a buggy at additional expense when trollies not available.
Course was very good for the time of year, mid October.
