The Griffin Course is the premier layout at Cottesmore, and is a genuine test of both skill and strategy. The predominant characteristics are the tight fairways, guarded by the mature woodland of the estate, and the small greens. This combination demands accuracy above all else, but the relatively short length of 6,248 ensures that the Griffin is manageable for all standards of golfers. Highlights are the short second and the penultimate hole, both of which demand well-struck iron shots over water.
The neighbouring 9 Hole Phoenix Course is the smaller of the two courses and offers a great introduction to golf. Regarded as Cottesmore's ‘second course' it has a splendid layout, bordered by the rhododendrons and woodland of this stunning landscape. Although some of the holes are easier than the Griffin there are also some challenging holes to test for the more complete golfer. The Phoenix is equally well maintained and is slightly more forgiving due to its more open fairways, which results in an extremely enjoyable challenge.
The farm buildings that were once scattered around the original country house have now been tastefully revamped to offer good quality traditional hospitality to travelling golfers.
The 21 guest rooms have been individually designed, and decorated sympathetically to reflect the original style of the hotel itself. This rural setting is the perfect place for a golf break away from the rigours of city life, with a warm welcome and relaxed environment.
Cottesmore's Health Club offers guests every opportunity to relax properly, with facilities including a swimming pool, hot tub, steam room, sauna and the on-site spa, where the massages are particularly memorable. The gym is equipped with a good variety of cardiovascular training equipment and a range of free weights.
The Phoenix Bar and Restaurant offers panoramic views of The Griffin Golf Course while offering locally sourced ingredients of popular gastro dishes within a light and airy environment.

We had a wonderful time celebrating my husbands 50th eventhough we missed our first round of golf due to Heavy rain, everyone was very helpful, because of the weddings it is NOISY until late and drunk people smoking everywhere THAT is probably why the houskeeping lady dared to nick my husbands AirPods from the table when cleaning Friday, expecting he would be thinking ”ahhh I probably left them in the bar”he didn’t use them any other than on the plane ride there and leaving saturday it was NOWHERE to be found, back in Sweden we have turned inside out at our luggage so this is unfortunately our conclusion, they were 1:st generation Apple AirPods and not ”worth” anything BUT still this is serious for you as a golf&country club!

The rooms are very modern and comfortable but to get around the hotel and bars you need to go outside, it was a rainy day and evening and the stairs were very slippery. Bathroom tiny but good The food was excellent and service and staff brilliant. Shout out to Helen and Car, thank you.

Very pretty course but again quite muddy in places. Only 9 holes but a very nice round. Again a few holes with a bit of distance between them!

Very enjoyable round although fairways a bit wet because of recent heavy rain. Quite a lot of long walks between holes which made the round longer than normal but still enjoyable. Lovely course.
