Cromlix is a Victorian mansion set in 34 acres of private woodland and gardens just outside Dunblane in Stirlingshire. Owned by Kim and Andy Murray, it keeps the grand country-house bones but leans into a contemporary, relaxed feel, more "welcome in" than white-gloves formal.
On site you've got a private chapel, a loch, tennis and pickleball courts plus woodland trails that are ideal for a post-round leg-stretch. Inside, the look is bold and botanical, with vibrant greens, playful prints and contemporary art that stops the place feeling like a museum. If you like your luxury with a bit of personality, you'll be very comfortable here.
For golf trips, the location is the real win. You're 11 miles from Stirling, around 36 miles from Glasgow and roughly 48 miles from Edinburgh, so you can build a proper itinerary without living in the minibus. Gleneagles is typically 20 to 30 minutes away by car and there are plenty of good parkland options around Stirling and Perth for the warm-up round or a more forgiving day. St Andrews is usually around 75 to 90 minutes depending on traffic, making it a realistic day trip if you're planning a multi-course tour.
Food is a big part of the stay too, with the Glasshouse Restaurant focusing on seasonal Scottish produce and an un-stuffy dining room vibe that works well for groups.
