The fairways are wide and the undulating greens are extremely large, but all are maintained to an immaculate standard. In keeping with Desert Springs' influences, the course is littered with cactus, rocks and dry river beds which present considerable obstacles. The beautiful contrasts of colours and shapes that the landscape offers make for an amazing backdrop which is perfectly complemented by the course itself.
The design and construction of Desert Springs was in accordance with USGA specifications throughout, and the continued development of the course's reputation has seen it recognised by a number of awards; in addition to countless national and international tournaments, the English Golf Union, the Welsh Ladies Golf Union and the Royal Spanish Golf Federation choose the resort as the base for practice and competition.
Given that a number of prestigious golf union's use Desert Springs as a winter base, it should come as no surprise that the resort has an outstanding practice facility, where you can hone your skills or benefit from expert tuition.
The Desert Springs resort offers 5* accommodation in a range of styles that are perfectly equipped to ensure a sun-soaked golf or leisure holiday on the Costa Almeria.
The Country Villas are detached 3 and 4 bedroom properties that border directly the terrific Indiana golf course. The style of the construction and décor is reminiscent of the cortijos and haciendas of Almanzoro and the Levante region, and all have a gated front court, walled garden and a private swimming pool, blessed with spectacular views. Enjoy the cool air of the colonnaded verandas, or the evening sunshine on the roof terraces as you experience the year-round sunshine of one of Europe's sunniest climates.
The Colonial Apartments and Townhouses at Desert Springs draw influence from the local villages of the region, and provide fantastic views of the golf course, shoreline and the surrounding mountains. The apartments are set in courtyards around swimming pools, patios and gardens, and each offers guests the use of a car park, swimming and splash pools, and a private roof solarium.
Desert Springs also offers Country Cottages which are roughly based on the traditional mining houses of the 19th century. The style may be influenced by days of old, but the interior of all cottages have been equipped with the best in modern conveniences and amenities, ensuring a truly comfortable stay.
These great options guarantee that there is a 5* accommodation choice to suit every demand, allowing visitors to relax and take advantage of all that the superb resort has to offer.
The Day Spa @ Desert Springs is located in the Reserve Privée, a delightful show home next to the clubhouse. A wide range of specialist treatments are available which utilise the award-winning Elemis product range. Notable treatments are the outstanding facials, deep tissue massage, Ocean wraps and wax manicures, but the list is an endless one. The sierra Sports and Fitness Club has been developed with consultation from Daley Thomson, who owns a villa within the resort, and features a state-of-the-art gym, external step and punch bag area, swimming pools, jogging trails, tennis and paddle courts, beach volley ball and an international-standard football pitch.
The Crocodile Club is the perfect place for families, with loads of exciting fun and games to keep the kids entertained.
Desert Springs has an array of bars and restaurants. The highlight is El Torrente, one of the region's premier dining rooms, that overlooks Powder Creek.
La Cueva del Almanzoro, or the cave bar, is an original cave that has been renovated to be a trendy and exciting place for a evening cocktail.
The self catering apartment was comfortable, ground floor with 2 bathrooms. The only issue was the air conditioners in the bed room and living room were both noisy and had to be turned off at night

Nice but way to expensive and a job to find...
Desert Springs is one of the enjoyable golf courses we have played in! Hence we come back every year! The greens are in fantastic condition and the green keeper always finds some challenging pin positions! The only drawback is the increasing number of rabbit holes in some of the fairways, it used to be just the 11th but now few more. Sometimes the ball rolls in it or you are likely to twist your ankle when walking the course. Apart from that a great course!!
A great golf course
