The 18-hole course, located 2 minutes from the hotel, is a true gem of Berkshire. Spread across 6,221 yards, it follows the natural landscape, weaving between mature trees and water features that come into play at just the right moments. The front nine offers chances to score, while the final four holes turn the dial up - the kind of finish where a good round can become unforgettable. And then there’s our iconic 15th hole, the ‘Big Dipper’. At over 500 yards, it’s as much about patience as power.
The proximity of the tremendous clubhouse at the end of each loop makes for a superb amphitheatre to welcome your comrades home during your golf break, corporate or society outing at Donnington Valley.

The Grade II listed Snelsmore House stands proudly overlooking the 9th and 18th greens, setting the tone for what awaits inside. Beyond the clubhouse, the hotel is built around comfort and space. Each of the 111 bedrooms blends clean, contemporary design with thoughtful details: Egyptian cotton linens, marble bathrooms and enough room to actually relax. If you're after a bit more, the suites and executive rooms step things up with generous seating areas and extra touches that make a difference after a long day on the course.
Rooms are modern, comfortable and well set up for a golf break, with plenty of space to spread out after a round. If you're making a weekend of it, the executive rooms and suites add extra seating space, which is ideal for groups and couples who want a bit more breathing room. The hotel strikes the right balance between contemporary comfort and country charm, and it's an easy place to switch off after 18 holes.
After your round, head to Press, the hotel's restaurant, where the kitchen focuses on seasonal British cooking done well. The menu balances comforting classics with dishes that showcase local ingredients, all supported by a wine list that's been put together with care rather than just ticking boxes. It's the kind of place where you can settle in for a long dinner with your group, swap stories about the round and enjoy food that feels both familiar and special.
If unwinding is what you're after, the spa is one of the finest in Berkshire and a genuine highlight of any stay. The 18-metre lap pool is ideal for loosening up after 18 holes, while the aromatherapy room, sauna and steam room give you options to restore tired legs and clear your head. The treatment menu is built around quality products and skilled therapists who know what they're doing, all delivered in a space where you can genuinely switch off. Even if golf isn't your thing, the spa alone is reason enough to book a visit.

This was an amazing place to stay, high quality ! Staff were so accommodating, food was lovely, rooms were top class, spa was amazing. My only gripe, price of the drinks. These were way to expensive, a little cheaper and this would top my opinion. Recommend to anyone... superb !

Great venue, well organised conditions dictated the course difficulty due to sun baked and significantly sloping fairways. Greens in great condition, the only fault was in respect to no practice area availability with only a single net in use and putting green available.

Course was amazing, greens were superb. The only thing that let this course down was the fairways. Baron, dry, hard, no grass. This led to any ball rolling miles of course. It doesnt stop you having an amazing experience because its an amazing course but it could be better. Recommend to anyone!

Enjoyable course, although some holes were extremely narrow with large trees either side of a sloping fairway. Fair challenge and greens in good condition considering the course has many visitors and societies using it.

Typical society course with a few players that have no idea of etiquette and knowledge of who plays first and totally unaware of other players ! But as a course was challenging and in great condition we will return hopefully not with the few muppets that could ( but didn’t ) spoil it see you again soon
