Dunston Hall

While Dunston Hall is long enough to make highly-skilled players take notice, it is also very playable for golfers of every standard, making it the ideal choice for groups and families looking for a beautiful spot for a golf and leisure break. The 22-bay driving range is the perfect place to warm up or work on a few swing changes.

Dunston Hall's best hole is the demanding par-4 16th, where your approach shot must be well struck to carry the lake that guards the front of the putting surface.

Accommodation at Dunston Hall Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort

The magnificent Elizabethan façade at the end of the grandiose driveway makes visitors aware that they have arrived somewhere very special. Inside the hotel, the 166 bedrooms are made up of a range of standard and family units, in addition to the extravagant suites.

The traditional flavour of the hall can be felt most prominently in the four-poster and the attic rooms, which feature the original oak beamed ceilings. In contrast to the period features in the hotel, all bedrooms have been equipped with the modern facilities and amenities that are required of a good 4-star hotel, including internet access.

The Grade II listed building is without doubt one of the most austere venues not only in the East, but in all of England, making it the perfect choice for a golf break with a bit of old-fashioned class.

Food & Drink

The hotel also offers three dining options, with the Brasserie restaurant serving breakfast in the mornings and dinner from 6.30pm. Alternatively, the Garden Terrace bar and Bunkers Bar offer a range of light meals and drinks throughout the day with stunning views over the hotel gardens and golf course.

Leisure Facilties

Dunston Hall is a perfect retreat for some relaxation, where the health and beauty centre is the place to be pampered, with a range of excellent treatments on offer. For the more active, the hotel is fitted with a swimming pool, aerobic studio and a superbly equipped gym, in addition to the sauna, steam room and whirlpool spa. Wind down in the evening with a few frames of snooker.

Decent hotel and spa / golf complex. Probably looking a bit tired now and could do with some updating. Lovely staff though and very good value for money

Excellent couple of days. The hospitality staff here though mostly young, are very impressive. Super helpful & professional. A testament to their training. Will return at some point.

Our weekend was one of the best we have had everything about the place was amazing from the staff to the food and the course and facilities.you really couldn’t fault it they are well organised and very friendly the prices in the bar are very reasonable the food was a 6x6x6 menu same every day but good choices breakfast there was plenty to choose from. The rooms were spacious good showers and air conditioning which was a blessing.having dinner in the bunkers bar was definitely a plus with us as there were so many of us and we had the bar to ourselves abd staff were efficient and pleasant

Nice clean hotel with good staff and facilities

Really disappoited to be put in "the Bunker" for our evening meals especially as this was not mentioned at the time of booking or any time after. Whilst the staff and food were good, the actual room we were put in was unacceptable. The rest of ther Hotel and staff were great but that one thing left us all disappointed.

Like most courses the fairways have suffered and some tee boxes were in a poor state but it is a lovely track and a good test . We will be back 👍

The course was as expected very dry , the greens were in excellent condition the tees were in poor condition and the fairways were hard and fast with bare patches. The course is tree lined a visually lovely. They did not have enough buggies so some of our group could not attend

Difficult to offer a fair review based on the conditions with so little rain this summer - fairways were rock solid so with the undulating fairways it was quite difficult to hold the fairways.

Excellent

It was difficult because it was in August after 2 months without rainfall. Like nearly all other courses, the fairways were so hard and difficult to know where to find the golf ball?

The staff in the clubshop were first class and always willing to help and were always smiling.the marshall on Saturday did go on a bit before we went out but he was ok,the marshall on the sunday was brilliant and we all had a laugh with him.the course is obviously so dry but the greens were goid and although a lot of shorter holes most found it difficult and scores were quite average overall a great course and enjoyable

A great technical course the only downside was the hard fairways but nothing you can do about that when we have just had the really dry months

Warnnig signs when on arrival we were told it placing in the fairways and after the firsat hole we could see why. awful fairways and surrounds to the greens.

We’ve had a very hot and dry spell so it’s a bit of an unfair time to rate the course conditions as naturally the fairways were parched and the ball bounced hard. Nevertheless the greens were in excellent condition and most of the tees weren’t too bad either. Perhaps the areas around the greens could have done with a little more watering but that’s being ultra critical. It’s a lovely course with some exceptionally attractive holes. It’s narrow but not unfairly so and the ‘stroke-index-1’ hole (16th I think?) is one of the best laid out holes you’ll find anywhere.
