Quality place and Torrance / kittocks courses were great

This Hotel is first class. The rooms and bathrooms are first class. The location and views are exceptional! Breakfast was superb and the staff were extremely helpful, special mention to Naomi who could not have done any more for us, thank you! Evening meal was had in the Clubhouse grill. At £42 for a small-ish ribeye, I expect at least some fries. It was expensive, SLOW for the food to arrive and average when it did. BUT the location of The Clubhouse grill is insane with the ambiance and views. Just a shame the food is over-priced and average. Staff throughout the hotel were great though!

This is an excellent hotel and we would highly recommend a stay for both golfers and non-golfers. It very much caters for US visitors, although don’t be put off by having to request milk with your tea on a daily basis. The breakfast is excellent, as are the staff, and the attendance of a cook serving fresh omelettes, pancakes and other dishes adds to a fantastic experience. With a decent sized gym and swimming pool, there’s plenty to do, although you can’t help but be blown away by the stunning views of the coast, golf courses, and historic St Andrews in the distance. We look forward to returning at some point in the near future.

This hotel is over the top. The staff was very accommodating and the room was perfect. All our meals were great

5 stars all the way,the hotel is located about 3 miles out of St Andrews, offering the perfect location for your stay. All facilities in the hotel are first class and have everything that you could ask for But the highest praise goes to the staff, extremely polite and nothing to much trouble.

I had a fairly spacious room. the breakfast was very nice. I was very impressed with the service.

It was a great hotel ! But management of housekeeping should be improved. Two of the four participants did not have their room done two of the three days !

Short staffed in bar area we were served warm white wine as it hadn’t been in fridge. Not great experience there We had a lovely stay though that didn’t spoil it for us

Wonderful stay just loved it. Staff soo helpful and lovely and location excellent. Would definitely stay again. If it was good enough for Tiger it’s good enough for us! Free shuttle to courses and St Andrews is great and taxi back only £5 if you needed to get one. Food a bit pricy at hotel but places in St A are all good. Try the Criterion pub and have one of their pies! Life changing!

A lovely hotel right next to its 2 courses. I can’t fault it really but breakfast was needing someone to keep the hot dishes topped up with more food. Bar is pricey.

Excellent hotel and excellent golf - a real test of golf in strong winds!

We were very disappointed with our stay. The quality of basics such as servicing the room was very poor. Many of the staff seemed to be poorly trained and/or motivated. The courses are still good but it would be better if they could offer club storage for hotel guests as it seemed very inefficient to have to get clubs up and down from the hotel each day.

While the place was a bit pricy, it is a gorgeous and luxurious property well-situated for golf in the St. Andrews area. You certainly get what you pay for in terms of quality as well!

Rooms fantastic and staff all very friendly though some inexperienced-unsurprising in current circumstances-bars good and excellent breakfast-wouldn’t hesitate to go back.

Lovely accomodation- beds a dream to sleep in... Beautiful views and very good and attentive staff. Prices for food/ drink can be quite exorbitant- but what the heck you are on your holidays 🤫

Slightly disappointed that certain restaurants and bars not open. The clubhouse bar/ grill closed at 5pm. There was no staff on duty on the monday after our golf. Otherwise food ,drink,room and staff excellent .

Clean and tidy staff we’re friendly and very helpful. Lots of choice for breakfast. Only thing I would say is a pint of larger was £6.25 😬 so 6 of us jumped in a taxi down to St. Andrews £2.50 cheaper per pint 😱 and had dinner out .

Good quality hotel, the Covid measures were very thorough and thought staff coped well considering the difficulties. Breakfast was good and room was very comfortable.

We booked our trip for my husbands 65th Birthday and our 45th wedding anniversary, first can i say the hotel was so nice the staff were just amazing couldn't do enough for us. I would rate it 10 out of 10.

This hotel is fantastic, we truly loved everything about it. Our room was amazing and everything was top class. Two high standard golf courses that exceeded our expectations.

From driving in through the well manicured entrance you are made to feel as if you belong, a welcoming atmosphere from everyone over the course of our too brief a stay, the room was clean, well furnished and spacious, the beds are extremely comfortable and the quiet is deafening. The breakfast choice is extensive, well presented & prepared. Overall it is one of the the most pleasant places to play & stay I have encountered.

the hotel was clean the staff could not do another for you plenty of information there was no sign post for the car park that was the only minus

We played the Kittocks course when our golf society visited St Andrews for our 10 year anniversary tour. I was lucky enough to play the Torrance Course a few years back and, in general, found the Kittocks to be more scenic, but a little easier as it’s slightly more open. Overall we found that the higher handicaps in the group scored better on the day, but everyone came off the course nicely surprised as to how good it was.

Thank you for everything yourgolftravel did for me and my mates. The golf trip to Scotland was great! It was a bit windy but thankfully dry and that was a bonus for this time of the year! I scored well on the Old Course with a par on the road hole; what more can you ask for?!

We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to The Fairmont St Andrews, which we combined with a golf lesson from a local Pro using the Trackman device, which we found extremely interesting and also quite soul destroying!

The two golf courses at The Fairmont – Torrance and Kittocks – were both in great condition for this time of year; the greens especially so. Both courses were very playable and would suit golfers of all handicaps but without doubt to score well, you need to play some good golf.

The staff in the clubhouse and proshop were all very welcoming with a ready smile and friendly conversation. When we checked in on the second day for our golf we were down to play the Torrance course again instead of the Kittock. The staff acknowledged it was their mistake and provided us with a buggy to start at the 10th as the 1st was busy all day. Not ideal but they could not have been more accommodating and helpful and later offered us discounted green fees when we return. Top class service.

The hotel was first class too with a large bedroom with two double beds and an excellent bathroom. The choice of dining in the Hotel was reasonable. We ate in the Italian restaurant and the food was very good. As with all hotels of this class, the price of drinks and wine is a bit over the top but when it’s served by lovely staff with the right kind of attitude it helps take the pain away!

We would certainly stay at Fairmont St Andrews again and overall felt it was excellent value for money and the kind of venue ideally suitable for husbands and wives looking for a golf break.

Regarding my trip to the Fairmont St. Andrews golf resort; it was fantastic from the moment we arrived until we left.

We found the facility very easily and when we arrived our rooms were ready at 0930 rather than after 1500, as is the norm. The rooms were fantastic and the meals second to none. The steak pie at the club house is to die for and the price of a pint at £4.50 isn’t too bad for a 5 star golfing complex.

The golf courses – the Torrance & Kittocks – were both absolute gems and from tee box to green, they were in fantastic condition. 

The members of staff at the hotel and the clubhouse were also very, very good.

I will be booking to go back as my friends enjoyed it as much as I did.

We had a great trip to Scotland and thought it was absolute top value for money.

The Fairmont St Andrews hotel was magnificent, as were the golf courses, both of which were in first class condition, with the Kittocks being our favourite of the two.

We basically had both courses to ourselves so the clubhouse was very quiet. The pro was very helpful and friendly.

Food and drink was a bit pricey but the 5* environment in the hotel was great and I would recommend this golf break to anyone - 10 /10 trip.

YGT service was very good too and I would have no problem in recommending your company to my buddies.

Our recent golf trip to Scotland was absolutely fabulous. It was a celebration of my 60 birthday with some of my closest friends and the entire long weekend was flawless.

To get 16 grumpy middle aged men all to agree on anything is truly exceptional but there wasn't one dissenting voice in agreeing that this was one of the best golf trips they had been on.

The Fairmont St Andrews Hotel was brilliant with large rooms, with 2 comfy double beds per room and overall the facilities were excellent with the bars staying open to silly o'clock every night we were there.

The 4 courses we played were all in tip top condition and each had their own challenges to overcome.

The Jewel of the tour for me was The Dukes course, which was both beautiful and challenging, closely followed by the Balcomie Links course which boasted stunning scenery and an exacting test of golf. Both had great club houses too.

The 2 golf courses at Fairmont St Andrews were fairly similar in that they were both true links courses, with challenges coming from some truly awesome fairway and green side bunkers, as well as some serious rough! The views on some of the holes more than made up for the vast quantity of golf balls that disappeared into the long grass, never to be seen by man again!

Again I would like to thank all at YGT who made this weekend a memorable one for all who attended.

Most enjoyable round on a very well maintained Links and found staff throughout friendly and welcoming.

A slightly easier course than the Kittocks, but when windy a massive test! The bunkers and the rough are brutal! But an absolutely brilliant course to play, stunning!

Nice course

This may be the holy grail of golf. The Fairmont Kittocks is the most breathtaking course ever. I highly recommend to anyone who wants to treat themselves to golf perfection. The course itself is somewhere between average and hard - I am just a horrible putter so that is why I found it challenging.

The course was extremely wet and there was loads of repairs going on. Most bunkers were out of play or in bad condition. The toilets out on the course are closed in the winter months, so i would probably not recommend The Kittocks to women whilst toilets are closed. My wife found the round very uncomfortable. On a plus the staff in the Pro Shop were very welcoming. I would 100% go back to this course but only in the summer months.

Great course played off yellow tees I got out early on the course on my own the pro shop charged for course planers and push trolleys The lay out of the course is excellent over looking the ocean some real good tee placement hitting over cliffs to the fairway lovey greens

Really lovely course with fab sea views - quality of clubs and caddies first class - course was wet but we were pleased it was open after such a wet winter and spring !

Played off yellow tees, had great weather but a little wet under foot. The course was very playable with some fabulous holes. Fairways generally quite wide and greens in excellent condition for February. Clubhouse great with all the expected facilities and with an amazing sea views from the bar area. Unfortunately no buggies available on the day we played.

Torrential rain for first 4 holes, lovely course just so wet under foot which can't be helped in November. Terrific venue for a top weekend.

Although The Kittocks course was the last well-known to us, we found it to be a very enjoyable experience. The practice facilities are excellent and the location is stunning. A worthy course to add to the St Andrews itinerary.

Harder of the two courses, I'd say not quite in the same condition as the Torrence course, but not to say it wasn't a lovely course, more hilly but a 4/5 course

We had a great day at the Torrance Course, despite heavy rain! The staff were very friendly. We understand the two courses are being combined into one, so something to watch for in the future.

Just loved this course. Absolutely amazing. Sunny calm day made all the difference. Course was beautiful and some of the holes like the 16th were breathtaking. Even got to see whales feeding the bay! Magical. Much better of the two courses at the Fairmont in my view. Would love to play this one again.

The course was nice but a bit buggy in places and greens had been dressed so can’t expect too much. Shame was the 45mph winds which made it hard to play. Nice course and spectacular views.

Only one course open. Greens were poor as had been scarified. Course very wet but that was not their fault! At least no mats or winter greens. Clubhouse very limited facilities at this time of year, no food beyond preprepared bacon rolls. Pro shop service very good. Still remained enjoyable and great value

The day we played had awful weather so we managed 12 holes. I really enjoyed it but I wish I had brought my motorised cart!

It was a very windy day on the Monday, although not as cold as the Sunday, which made life a little difficult. Cannot fault the course, but the round was spoilt by the party in front of us. We were held up at every hole, except the first, at the second hole we waited 20 minutes to tee off!! There were two sets of 4 balls in front of us all in buggies. In all my time playing golf I have never come across such a shambolic set of golfers. They were up and down and across the fairways with no regard to those behind. They needed teaching some golf etiquette!! Realise this not your fault and it did not spoil the experience too much.

It was a cold windy day and as a high handicap golfer I struggled on some of the longer holes. We were never held up and, despite the weather, enjoyed the round. Course was in great condition.

Course lay out was challenging we all enjoyed it until we got to the greens were the disappointment started as they had just had work done on them you couldn’t putt as there’s was a lot of sand on them as the ball rolled towards the hole it collected sand and the ball slowed and was never running true DISAPPOINTED 😔 2/10

Really good course, challenging but fair. Probably better second time around as I think it would be very beneficial to know your way around in terms of the lines and club choice from the tee.

The day was an improvement on the day before. It was still a stiff breeze but manageable. The course was like the Torrance suffering with the very wet winter weather, very wet all over. Proved to be at very stiff test.

Weather was the issue. On the day of play the wind was stronger than any of the party had ever played in 50+ mph. This was on top of the wettest winter in Scotland that I can remember, the whole course was saturated. No serious competition would have been possible with the overhead and course condition.

Today we use puggi very good time finish 1.30 everybody happy next time we need to play old course can you recommend with month better please let us know thanks

Whilst being offline often led to a lost ball the course was challenging and enjoyable. The range was available before each round and the guys in the pro shop were extremely helpful

Found the Torrance the easier of the 2 courses at Fairmont, although every bit as challenging as the kittocks it benefits from more weather shielding being more inland for a good proportion of the course, making a front 9 loop around the hotel it then heads out towards the coastline, I found an approach to one slightly raised green particularly arresting, as you reach the green the flag is framed by a parting of the gorse bushes behind revealing a view accross the bay and St Andrews bathed in sunshine leaves a lasting impression of being in the home of golf, the course was as good if not better than we hoped for, a real golf course and true test of shot making with game management a must.

I would not have liked to play the course in anything more than the 12 mph winds we played in, played in late March when the rough was dormant so finding an errant ball though difficult was possible, the fairways and greens were pure and manicured, the views constantly distract but in a good way, when you're playing an approach into a green that appears to be sat on the edge of a cliff with nothing but sea as a backdrop, it certainly focuses your attention. Will be back for sure.

this day the weather was good but the golfers in front of us were very slow so this today it took longer excellent course my partner would definitely go again fantastic weekend could not fault it.

Really nice course that makes you think of shots. Wayward shots will be punished with thick rough and even fairway shots weren't guaranteed to be safe with strategic bunker positions. The views at the course were breathtaking as well.
