Situated less than an hour from the heart of Italy’s beautiful capital city of Rome, Fioranello Golf Club boasts a beautiful course that takes pride of place between between the ruins of ancient Roman aqueducts and the enchanting Castelli Romani.
Designed by David Mezzacane, Fioranello offers an enthralling test of golf to beginners and experienced golfers alike, with an intelligent design incorporating numerous doglegs, strategically placed bunkers and rows of mature trees which line the fairways calling for straight hitting from the tee. There is plenty of out of bounds here too, so those with a tendency to go a little off piste from the tee might want to dial it back a little when they have driver in hand!
The club boasts comprehensive practice facilities too, with golfers able to warm up to their heart’s content, making use of the driving range and short game practice areas before heading for the first tee.
The Fioranello clubhouse is also excellent, with a gorgeous outdoor pool to go along with the cosy restaurant and bar, all of which allow guests to make a day of it, striding the Fioranello fairways in the morning, before soaking up the Italian sunshine with a well deserved drink or two before heading into Rome for an evening meal.

The Roman aqueducts and views of Castelli Romani creates a unique atmosphere in which to play golf at Fioranello meaning the fact that you’re teeing it up in Italy is never too far from the forefront of your mind.
The course only measures in at just over 6,000 yards so it’s by no means long by modern standards, but a total of 36 bunkers and a spattering of water hazards, as well of course as the rows of mature trees that line the fairways, accentuating many of the doglegs, create an intriguing challenge.
The course arguably has 2 signature holes, the 10th and 15th, both of which skirt a sizeable water hazard. The par 5 10th hole is reachable in 2 for longer hitters with forcing those laying up with their second to think about their yardages, while the par 4 15th requires an accurate tee shot with the lake lurking down the left hand side of this hole too.
Overall, Fioranello Golf Club is an excellent addition to a Rome golf holiday, and thanks to the club’s philosophy that looks to combine a top class course with the social aspects of golf, you’re sure to feel right at home.
The temperature can average 26 degrees in July and August making these the best months to visit for those who want to play golf in the sun.
