Formby Ladies Golf Club is proud to be one of the oldest independent women's golf clubs in the world, a haven of elegance and excellence nestled amongst the pine trees and sand dunes of the Lancashire Coast. Situated in the picturesque town of Formby, the club offers a golfing experience that transcends the ordinary.

As early as 1886 women were invited to form their own committee to organise ladies competitions and handicaps, and over the next ten years the ladies' section thrived.

Designed with passion and precision, the course bears the creative imprint of renowned architects, capturing the essence of the surrounding landscape while challenging every golfer's skill. As the wind whispers through the dunes and the sea breeze caresses the fairways, each swing becomes a dance with nature.

Formby Ladies Golf Course

The course presents a delightfully diverse and engaging experience for visitors. Measuring 5,356 yards from the red markers, the course offers narrow fairways and strategically protected greens. The native heather guarding much of the rough demands careful play, particularly on numerous holes.

The new 18-hole links was officially opened in 1908 and during the same year the ladies' clubhouse was extended to accommodate the growing membership. In the late 1920’s Harry Colt was employed to reconstruct 4 new holes, that opened for play in 1930.

The facilities stand as a testament to the commitment of the club to provide a world-class experience. From the welcoming clubhouse that exudes warmth, to the meticulously maintained greens that invite your best shots, every detail is designed to uplift your spirits and enhance your game.

Fantastic golf course, short but challenging and very enjoyable. Immaculate condition, dry ground makes it a great winter course. Very hospitable in the Ladies clubhouse with complementary soup and sandwiches. Would recommend and definitely go back there.

Really is a great test with narrow fairways and punishments every time you miss them . Lovely par 3's . Love to go back on a day I'm a bit straighter off the tee 😂. The club house had no record of our sandwiches and chips that was meant to be included. Ps they don't even do chips . Kindly they trusted us and made sandwiches.
