The hotel was very good rooms where nice and clean staff were lovely the only complaint was the bar prices were very expensive

Clean comfortable hotel. Tho expensive to drink in. Even the staff were recommending that we drink at pub 10 min walk away rather than pay hotel prices.

I would score it less if I could. Buffet meal next to the pro shop Golfers not allowed to drink in the main bar (was asked to take our drinks to the reception) No food in the halfway house or milk for hot drinks (Only 3 chocolate bars) Facilities are poor venue run by teenagers who don't give a hoot Worst place I have been too shocking

The hotel experience couldn't have gone worse. Firstly, the check in lady said our food reservation was for 7.30 at the carter and fitch restaurant, we had this confirmed 2 more times by her. We went for food at 7.30, the waiter sat us down and then said "you shouldn't be here, you are in the other restaurant" then moved to the Orangeary restaurant. We were told "you have missed the starters" and the main meal options was like a buffet style, but the food had been sat there ages, it was dry and disgusting. We ate some of the food but decided we would go back to carter and fitch and have a couple of drinks there, plus buy some food. The same waiter was there and said "you have to go to the other restaurant" we asked "but could we stay in here and buy drinks here and food? You have a TV too" he replied "there is a TV there too" I asked "is there an issue? Why aren't we welcome to come here?" His reply "well whilst its quiet you can stay in here until it gets busy"...absolutely disgusting. The hotel service was absolutely shocking. Avoid this place. I would score it 0 stars if possible for staff/hotel.

The hotel is a hotel clean and bed comfortable decent size at the end of the day your there to sleep but I must say the food here is fantastic and the drinks are not bad priced for a hotel defo be going back

The hotel room was a lovely size and clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast in the hotel was really good quality and tasty . What was a massive disappointment was the meal in the connecting restaurant, as we were on a golfbreak we received a preset starter,dinner and dessert. We got a poor portion of soup which was disappointing as it was the only edible part of the whole meal. My partners fish was overpowered by salt, my steak was just a lump of rubber.the dessert had been left in the sun for a few days just to add to the horror. Never again

Great stay, great facilities, great golf

Don't let the initial impression put you off. This hotel is very nice inside and our room was great.

On arriving at the hotel reception made you feel welcome.rooms were clean and bar areas were clean and accommodating.the staff do a great job considering they were understaffed.bar prices were expensive but there was a pub 5 minutes walk which was a lot cheaper.breakfast was very good and evening meal was buffet style but was decent.all in all would give it a strong 8 for a large party of golfers

First just like to thank Sam at YGT for booking this for me at the George Washington hotel hotel staff and food and drink were really good as for the gold want to give a big shout out to Brian in the club house he couldn’t do enough for my party BVH GOLF from Blackpool party of 10 the course was lovely to play and in my case not a lot of water on it but over all full complex was great that good my group said they would go back 100% so you all at YGT keep the good work up many thanks Chris BVH GOLF⛳️🏌🏿‍♀️🏌🏿‍♂️⛳️

Nice hotel location ok 20mins outside Newcastle easy to find would stop again

As we were a golfing party and I was the organiser I got the issues one rooms shower had no hot water breakfast on the Sunday after a big wedding was chaotic had to look for plates wiped down our own tables coffee machine not working was the main ones. We also had a non arrival who called off on the Friday with covid but were just told nothing can be done.Bars weren't staffed properly always waiting for service. Meals were in 2 different places we weren't informed about a carvery on the 2nd night. The place is not as well run as it was 5 years ago unfortunately 😔.

Comfortable hotel,food average but adequate,but overall very good value. Would certainly consider staying again in the future.

Was given an excellent welcome on arrival all staff were very nice and pleasant rooms were clean but no air con in most rooms. Facilities and bars very good but drinks expensive

The staff here are the crown in the jewel. They go outof the way to give a personal, professional and natural experience. Absolutely brill.

Clean and tidy, with excellent staff and bars and places to eat.

Offered £20 off menu first night and 3 course ‘golf package’ second night which was a better meal. Apart from that the hotel was very good.

Our room was clean and with all of the facilities of a good hotel. The food was very good however although the staff were very friendly the speed from the kitchen left a little to be desired. The whole break was an improvement on our recent identical stay at the twice the price Close House Golf.

Good rooms, good food, had a great time, lovely course. The only down side to the whole experience was the bar staff, or the lack of them. Those that were there showed no interest in actually being there. They also ran out of beer on Sunday afternoon so we had to go to a pub down the road. Their loss as there was 20 very thirsty golfers

golf course was great very friendly wide fairways, greens was very fast and some of the best greens I've played on, the bar next to the pro shop was only open once while we was there and that was over a weekend which was a pity as it was £1 a pint cheaper than the restaurant bar, the restaurant bar was very nice with some nice outdoors sitting area, most of the staff was fantastic just a couple of young lads that served us at the bar area lets say wasn't very happy its as if the world owes them something, but the young ladies was fab and couldn't do enough for you, a short taxi ride to Fatfields with 3 pubs was a nice change. All in all would we go back that's a definite YES

All a bit hit or miss really. There was two functions on which meant our dinner was in the diner rather than restaurant- which was fine, although the service could best be described as hit or miss. Slow to take orders and bring drinks, then the starters and mains arrived at the same time. Lunch on the Saturday was good, albeit orders were mixed up. Icing on the cake was attempting to get lunch before we left on Sunday- the main restaurant was again closed, and despite the diner being at about 25% capacity, we hadn't booked so couldn't get a table. Very strange, given we just wanted something fast before heading up the road. All staff members were pleasant and polite, however seemed to have real difficulty in wearing a mask properly? Doesn't give off the best of impressions, and it does feel like that particular area needs some senior level oversight. Food was good though, and the folks were nice. Just very disorganised. 😁

Everything was fantastic. Room's were too warm, even with windows wide open. But a small negative on an all round great weekends stay.

Lovely hotel although we had to change rooms due to the noise of a kitchen fan. They moved us with no problem although to a room which had not been refurbished. Bed was very comfy room very warm so we got a fab.

Everything was first class staff could not have done more for us

Nice hotel, let down by some of the staff members. The guy who checked us in on the Saturday afternoon was rude, and the waiting staff in the carter & finch restaurant were clueless...continually had to ask them to order more drinks, bring us some cutlery etc

Our visit started very well with a warm welcome from the golf pro in the shop and then by a very pleasant, understanding receptionist. Our rooms were all of a good standard with all the usual facilities. Evening meal was only two courses and was nothing exceptional but was ok. Initially we had difficulty getting our 20% drinks discount in the hotel bar/restaurant but this was quickly sorted out by the duty manager, Magdalena,who was very helpful.All the bar staff and restaurant staff were really nice. Breakfast choice was very good and those of us who got freshly cooked items thoroughly enjoyed it but some of the buffet items had been under the heaters a bit too long and were dried up.

Great facilities and very friendly and helpful staff. Only issue was card to access room which I had to get re-booted a couple of times.

Golf course ok, buggies not on due to weather, food poor in main restaurant, eat in Carter & Finch as Orangery is shocking. Rooms fine and service good. Wouldn’t rush back but ok for money I suppose.

The hotel was very good albeit a bit of a rabbit warren until you got your bearings. The only complaints were that the food on bith nights wasn't hot enough and the solo barman struggled to keep up with demand at times.

Well respected hotel, I received a couple of good reviews from friends and it lived up to expectations

Our group thought the course was in good condition especially after the rain that had falling unfortunately our time was ruined by the fact buggies were not allowed on the course 3 of our group could not play but the guys who did thought they the buggies could have been on even guy in the professional shop thought they should so that was disappointing

Friendly pro shop, Lovely course with a wide variety of holes to play. Greens little bumpy, but running well for time of year. All four of us enjoyed playing this course all 3 days which we were there.

Anything more than that is reflective of the golf as the guys in the golf club were polite, the course was play, not very challenging and hardly any hazards to test you. Do not book here and book somewhere else.

Two good rounds of golf on a well maintained course

Our group of four had a mixture of abilities from single handicap, higher handicap and one player who only plays a few times a year. The course provides a challenge that can be enjoyed by all standards so excellent for a golf break

The course was in good condition the greens are very fast fairways were in good condition easy to walk but we had buggies which were ordered by YGT until we got there and they hadn’t been reserved but John in the golf shop sorted us out until the last day 4 of us had to walk they were 2 buggies short John was not happy but not is fault if YGT hadn’t reserved them but hey things happen but over all look forward to going back

Great course, challenging but very fair

Course was good for the time of year. Give it a month and it will be better. Club house was not serving food, but this is going to change.

Overall state of the course was good but unfortunately the greens had been dressed so full of sand but has to be done would have been nice if it had been mentioned before we got on the first tee.

Disappointed had walk 3 rounds, obviously with ground conditions, due to rain couldn’t use golf carts

Not in best condition when we went due to the bad weather. Tight fairways and fairly testing green overall we had a good couple of round would like to play in summer when not as wet

Unfortunately the course was a bit wet a spongy due to recent rainfall but was playable with preferred lies no buggy were available due to this so some of our party struggled and didn't play all the rounds.

Thoroughly enjoyed the course not to challenging but enough to treat with respect. Extremely well maintained greens which were very challenging at times. Would certainly look forward to playing this course again.

Excellent 3 rounds. The rain was obviously making conditions rather wet, but improved as the sun came out. The course in summer would be great.

Some of the best greens we have putted on this year. Overall course was in fantastic condition, a nice mix of holes and suitable for all abilities. Only downside was on Sunday morning we were behind a ladies and gents monthly competition- took two hours and 45 mins for 9 holes, so we didn't bother with the second 9. Saturday morning game was 3hr 45mins which was perfect. Enjoyable though! Hats off to the greens team

Greens in AMAZING condition. They didn't have 4 buggies for us when we arrived only 3 so we missed our tee time waiting for the 4th buggie to arrive. Other than that, all round great weekend.

We had two slow rounds, which put a dampener on the golf - I think we were slotted in and this contributed to the slow play. Loved the course though

Great two rounds greens very fast tee boxes immaculate some testing holes great for all handicaps group of four enjoyed our 2 rounds

Obviously they overbooked tee’s as both Saturday and Sunday was extremely slow!! Sunday had men and women comps and two very large golf societies therefore play was exhaustingly slow!!!!! They then proceeded to squeeze people in from hole 10 which was very annoying!!!

Arrived to heavy rain course closed but staff managed to sweep greens for us to play 9 holes 2nd course was excellent

Really good course

Despite the recent atrocious weather there wasnt too much trouble with water. Greens were in good condition. Thoroughly enjoyed playing the long par 4s which is a serious test to your score. Enjoyable dog leg on the 11th. Players were friendly and wouldnt hesitate going back.

Rained from start to Finish...the course should have been closed as at least 7 Holes where there was no clear route to the hole on the green that was not flooded

Course in excellent condition and very friendly staff in pro shop. Would highly reccomend.

Facilities excellent

The pro made us feel very welcome and even gave us some hats/ball markers and a voucher for another round, as the weather on the sunday meant we were unable to play. Only issue was the half price buddies deal was of no use, as the buggies were off until March, but overall, we were made to feel very welcome.

The course is quite long with very generous fairways which make it suitable for a wide range of handicap players. There is little by way of hazards and the walking is fairly easy. The greens were very receptive as they had just been hollow tined but this made putting extremely difficult to judge as it was like putting on velcro. This is to be expected at this time of year so it did not spoil our enjoyment of the golf and our break overall. From our group of 11 we only had one complainer who, as you might guess, didn't win. We may well return.

Overall condition was good considering how busy it was.

The course is long but predictable, no real signature holes, long walk in between holes and need a buggy(which where off due to weather)few older guys in party who didn’t enjoy distances Especially on day 3. Great service from Bill Michie is Pri shop, looked after all our needs👍🏻

As a group of around 20 players with mixed ability everyone thoroughly enjoyed the golf. The wide fairways meant the higher handicaps didn't spend all their time looking for balls whilst the lower handicaps found the course testing enough.

Good condition green, we flowed around and the weather was good too
