The variety of tees on offer makes the par-73 track playable for visiting golfers of all abilities. The inventive design has made full use of the natural hazards presented by the existing land, providing numerous obstacles for players to negotiate. A previous host venue to the Sunderland Masters, is a testament to the courses quality.
Course management is the key around George Washington, where it is essential to position both tee and approach shots correctly to score well. Away from the fairways, there is a useful practice centre which includes putting and chipping greens, a driving range and a 9-hole par-3 course, ideal for honing the swing and sharpening the short game.

The George Washington Hotel, Golf and Spa is set beautifully and peacefully amidst its own 200-acre estate. The hotel is ideally situated close to a number of major trunk roads, however it is nearby a quiet residential area and a very peaceful park land setting. The restaurant was excellent and the staff on point. Breakfast was fresh and again staff on point, well turned out and exceptionally polite

Modern hotel in very good condition, clean and very comfortable. Food excellent and bars comfortable and relaxed.Staff we encountered were all friendly, courteous and helpful absolutely lovely people. Will definitely return here.😎

The room was dated. Holes in the bath and damaged shower head. No aircon and fan provided was useless. Its a shame as the rest of the weekend was superb.

Everything was five star apart from the golf we only had 1 round out of 3 cause the course was to wet to play a lot of the group rely on buggies and they stopped the buggies going out we we didn’t play as it was to wet shame cause it a good course the George Washington Newcastle they also change the food from a set menu to buffet style 3 main course to choose from but if they nothing you liked then you were snookered as they say but would I go back maybe would I recommend yes in the good weather staff were brilliant drink prices not to bad food overall was good and hot breakfast lovely rooms standard but you only sleeping in it anyway ⛳️🏌️🏌🏿♂️🏌🏿♀️⛳️

A rally well presented course, easy to navigate and a lot of attention to detail around the greens and aprons. It’s well laid out with the back nine feeling ever so slightly shorter. I really enjoyed course and will most certainly be back in the future!

Firstly we had great weather, course is a terrific layout with great variety of holes. Course provided a fair challenge for the golfers. Fairways in good condition, greens were immaculate - slow to put on- we are used to fast greens.Will definitely visit here again as the whole golf package was superb. Service and facilities excellent and staff all super friendly and helpful. We had a great weekend😎😎

We only played 1 round out of 3 cause the course was to wet they need more drainage and pathways for the buggies to go on as they stopped all buggies from going out
