0800 043 6644Since its completion in 1993 the course at Glasson Country House & Golf Club has become widely considered as one of the most scenic courses in Ireland which, when you consider the other courses present on the Emerald Isle, is high praise indeed. The course sits on the shores of Lough Ree, views of which can be enjoyed from every hole.
Although the stunning scenery is one of the many memories you will take away from Glasson, it is the fantastic challenge that the golf course offers to players of all abilities that is the main reason to visit this gem of a course situated in the Irish Heartlands just outside of Athlone. Designed by Ryder Cup star, Christy O'Connor Jnr, the course is cleverly crafted, so that more talented players are given a thorough workout while higher handicappers will not be overawed by the test that awaits. Multiple tee positions can stretch the course to as much as 7,215 yards; perfect for a championship test, while the forward tees can reduce the course to a more manageable 6,313 yards; perfect for a more relaxing round.
This gently undulating parkland layout is not only famed for its breathtaking location. The conditioning if the course is second to none which, in tandem with the challenging layout, has lead to Glasson hosting numerous regional and international events including European Challenge Tour events in August 2007 & 2008.
Look out for the stunning par 5 14th; a dramatic par-5 which sweeps around the trees and down towards the Killenure Bay. Another highlight follows soon after at the par 3 15th where players must hit their tee shots over a great expanse of water to a peninsula green; one of the most exciting shots in the whole of Ireland.

Beautiful hotel recently refurbished with superb taste. Situated in a beautiful location with stunning views and facilities. The first time I heard golfers say I must bring my wife/partner to visit this place. Fantastic golf course with a great variety of holes and very challenging greens that will frustrate you but make you want to come back to get the better of them!

The hotel was modern and elegant. Very nicely appointed rooms and facilities. Food and bar service were excellent. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Setting was spectacular.

Loved the stay here couldn’t fault it. The hotel facilities and room are good but it was the hospitality that I thought was exceptional. Naturally friendly staff that couldn’t have done more for you. Can’t wait for the opportunity to return.

Everything about this hotel was first class.The bedrooms were lovely and the food great both for evening tea and breakfast . We all enjoyed our stay at Glasson hotel and hope to return another time.

Beautiful golf course with all the sounds of nature and lovely greens. Nice open fairways but challenging undulating greens that will frustrate you but make you want to come back to get the better of them!

Millionaires golf, nobody in front, nobody behind and a course in great condition. Difficulty level on the course is perfect for my standard of game. I’m inconsistent off the tee which will be penalised fairly here ie recovery or rough, but you don’t spend ages ball hunting and can normally find unless the water on the course gets you. There is certainly enough challenge on the course and plenty of variety in the holes so entertains place to play especially with the views. Loved my round here and would think it feels like a course that could be enjoyed by the lesser golfers as well as the better.
