The par-70 championship golf course at the Welcombe is widely regarded to be one of the finest layouts in the West Midlands, and has been recognised as such with the award of the European Seniors Tour Ryder Event.
The course is laid out around the imposing structure of the Welcombe hotel, and the designer has made full use of the natural undulations of the land to create a course that will make talented golfers think hard, while also remaining a playable and enjoyable experience for players of all abilities. The remarkable scenery that stretches before all visitors will ensure that a golf break at the Welcombe is a memorable one.
If you have a private function, the Open Championship Suite, based in the clubhouse, can seat up to 120 guests.
The 78 en-suite bedrooms are superbly finished, and are sympathetically decorated and furnished to reflect the traditional style of the hotel itself; some rooms feature original antique pieces, while the suites are perfect for a special occasion, designed around the incredible four-poster beds. The public areas are ideal for a relaxing moment, especially on the luscious sofas that are placed next to the open fires in the lounge.
There are also 7 bright, modern apartments at The Welcombe which are perfect for golfing groups or couples looking for that bit of extra space. The apartments consist of an open-plan living space, fully functional kitchen with an oven, microwave, washing machine, dishwasher, toaster, coffee machine and kettle. Rooms tired Restaurant poor waited 3/4 hour for starter over an hour for main course and had to be chased up for it

The hotel was in a lovely location and the rooms have everything you need. Access to the spa is recommended after a round of golf too. Unfortunately our stay was let down by how long it took for service during the evening meal despite the food being of good quality

Great 17th Century Jacobean Mansion house - obviously if your in the old part then it is “atmospheric”. The new golfers block I cannot comment but I was happy to be in the main house.

Little bit dated but nice facilities and location. Staff had to keep resetting room keys as they kept locking each night. Food was good enough and nice atmosphere for a more chill golf holiday

First class upgraded room. Restaurant and bar superb. We played golf and couldn’t fault the course. One of our party needed a buggy for health reasons and I was disappointed that we could not hire one despite a large buggy stock.

The course is really well maintained and some of the holes are very tricky. On our second round we were let down by the incredibly slow play of the four balls ahead of us so much so we had to call the Marshall out. This seemed to slow them down even more and after 4.5 hours we sadly walked off after 15 holes. If you don’t mind waiting on every tee then this is the course for you but if you want to have a flow to your round then stay away.

Brilliant layout - loved the course. Quite a few blind shots over hills and markers - not all par 4’s and 5’s are driver .. take advice from the prison and mark your card accordingly. Some stunning views !! Really enjoyed the course - better players should play of blues - whites are still good.

Not the courses fault it was in the middle of a heatwave so grass was completely dead and the ball rolled off every fairway. Clubhouse was always out of range balls but staff were friendly. Slowest round of my life on the Sunday at 5 hrs. Par 5 followed by par 3 as the first 2 holes meant 3 groups were often on the first then all had to wait on the second tee box. Constantly waiting on every tee box from then on. Greens and tee boxes well maintained, especially good considering the hot weather.

Course greens great but no fault of the club fairways had no grass very slow round on the Sunday over 5hrs there should have been course marshals speeding up some golfers.

Sunday we had a slow society in front of us 5 to 5.5 hour round. Monday we wasn’t held up approx 4 hour round. In April we wasn’t advised buggys we’re £30. July was our golf break and buggys had gone up to £40. Which was a shock and disappointment.
