The predominant feature is water, as the course's name suggests, with no fewer than 16 lakes placed strategically to attract wayward golf balls. The 220-acre landscape that is the backdrop to the golf course is in fact a nature reserve, and the wildlife and stunning panorama only serve to embellish the golfing experience. The course is fortunate to feature a cutting-edge irrigation system, designed to drain the greens effectively, ensuring that they roll true throughout the year.

Nice Hotel. Room as expected. Laundry changed and room cleaned. Discounts on drinks including Wine at the table. Excellent hotel staff and pro shop, helpful and with a smile. Made to feel welcome.
Perfect for a golf break. Friendly, helpful staff. Good food. Good service.
All good could not fault anything rooms and food were 1st class
Comfortable room very friendly staff great food. Had no complaints from anyone in the group I was with
Staff where excellent very helpful nothing to much trouble.food was very good rooms clean and tidy very comfortable
A really enjoyable night away, staff were friendly and extremely helpful. Rooms were big and comfortable.
Rooms were extremely shabby and in urgent need of renovation. SPA was also extremely shabby. Some of the staff were very scruffy and service in general was slow. Staff very polite and helpful. Food was of a good standard.
i would rate hellidon lakes hotel and golf ten out of ten great weekend away
It was very comfortable and clean and the food was superb
Being a main holiday time i.e Easter, we were surprised how quiet it was. Overall it was ok, however, dinner on our first night was a little frustrating as the service was a bit disjointed. For example we had to ask ref what our subsidised amount was and it was like an after thought, that should be an initial brief? Bread rolls had to be asked for and weren’t presented on initial sit down, that took over 20 mins to arrive and didn’t come with our starters when we really could have required them. Starter plates weren’t cleared prior to our mains arriving which is pretty sloppy in our opinion. At times we thought we were in Farley Towers! Evening 2 was more cohesive and like to thank Oli our waiter for his service and courtesy throughout.
The hotel and course where good but there were a few things that could be improved upon. The room was very hot on check-in and continued to be throughout the stay. The rooms weren’t as nice as the last time we stayed.
Hellidon Lakes is centrally located so not too far, very welcoming staff across all areas of the complex.
The hotel is around 20 mins away from the motorway. All of our rooms were clean and tidy. They were all very hot though, so we slept with the windows open. Lovely views over the local countryside and the golf course. All the food we had in the evening was delicious, the only exception being the cheesecake. Breakfast was super, lots of choice and all decent quality. Staff were friendly throughout our stay.
No complaints really, all we expected.
Hotel was comfortable with very good facilities, the rooms allocated to golfers are in the old section and are a bit dated. The bar prices are way to high. Breakfast and dinner was a very good quality but but dinner portion sizes were to small.

Was wet but the drainage was good and we were able to play. The course is very hilly and some of the older members in our group found it hard work
Considering the time of year and days of rain the course was very good. Greens were deceptively quick. Signage could be improved for the first time visitor. Outstanding views on the course. A good test for golfers of all levels. I recommend it.
We first came here ten years ago and remembered it being a very physical course. Ten years on.. our memories are correct.. it still is! But it’s beautiful and in lovely condition.
Although it was very wet the course was in very good condition might be worth considering a buggy as it is very hilly
Apart from a mix up with another group arriving late at the tee had 3 great rounds of golf. A lot of rain left the lower areas soggy but that’s golf. Greens were difficult enough to make it interesting. Several lovely holes. Very hilly. Would definitely play there again
Very enjoyable. Some difficult holes for physically challenged players, so needed buggies. One lady missed first day as couldn’t use a buggy because of the weather.
Course was a challenge but not to difficult greens were very good undulating course and older ones in group needed a buggy which I think could be cheaper
The course played well, the greens were fluffy in places with a few weeds in a few parts unfortunately, but other than that was in good condition
Generally the course was ok but some of the greens were in poor condition. Fairway grass too long in places. Challenging course but enjoyable. Not enough signage to indicate route.
some very hard holes and some easy greens very slow
The green course was hard for the higher handicapper but overall very good
Greens need to be cut far to slow
Testing, hilly but a good way of getting your heart rate up!
Course was in good condition but did have a few mats for tees which was a little surprising at the time of year we travelled. The course is very playable and favours the longer hitters.
The 3 courses are not long but certainly make you think your way around. A couple more weeks of sunshine & growth it will be in top shape. A great 1 night DBB 2 Rounds package.
The course was in very good condition considering the amount of rain there was leading up to the weekend. The greens were generally good. We played all three of the 9 hole courses and enjoyed Lakes & Valley the most. We would definitely come here again and I would recommend it to friends and family.
Really nice flowing course. Good for people for shape the ball from right to left. The greens are a challenge but on some holes they could do with some extra attention.
Course condition was poor with a lot of bare areas on the Fairways and portions of damaged greens. This may have been as a result of the dry summer. The actual course set up considering its short length is quite challenging and the driver is best left in the bag for most holes. The greens are definitely this courses defence mechanism with a lot of slopes and borrows to contend with but overall our group had reasonable scores and matches were tight.
