Set on the sands of La Barrosa Beach in Chiclana de la Frontera, IBEROSTAR Royal Andalus is the sort of base that keeps golfers, non-golfers and families equally happy. You've got Real Novo Sancti Petri Golf Club next door, the Atlantic out front and a proper resort set-up behind you with pools, a full spa and plenty for the kids. With 413 rooms split between sea-view and golf-view options, it works well for couples, groups and mixed parties who want everything in one place without feeling stranded at the resort.

When you're not on the course, the wooden boardwalk takes you straight from the hotel onto La Barrosa, one of the standout beaches on the Costa de la Luz. Sea Soul Beach Club is the easy choice for a post-round drink or a lazy beach afternoon, while the on-site spa adds a calmer option if you're travelling with non-golfers. Families are well covered too, with age-based kids' clubs and a splash area that keeps younger ones busy.

If you fancy getting out and about, Chiclana is around 10 kilometres away and buses run regularly, so it's simple to swap resort life for local tapas, shops and a stroll through town. The Bay of Cádiz is close by for coastal walks and you can also tick off the atmospheric Sancti Petri Castle ruins. For evening drinks with Atlantic views, Atenas Playa in Chiclana is a short bus ride away and serves cocktails until sunset.

The Real Novo Sancti Petri Golf Club is less than 250 yards from the hotel and features 36 holes designed by Seve Ballesteros as well as incredible practice facilities at the Jack Nicklaus Academy. The first of the 18-holes is called the Mar & Pinos, which means Sea & Pines and this couldn’t be more fitting for a name as the course is a tale of two-nines. The front nine is fairly open but there’s danger in the form of lakes and water hazards, whereas the back nine is more punishing of any wayward tee shots as there are pine trees scattered everywhere.

The second 18-hole course is called the Central which is a Par 72 with a twist as there are 6-par 3s, 6 par-4s and 6 par-5s. A stand out hole will be the 18th which features an iconic fairway bunker in the shape of an S on the 18th, to stand for Seve Ballesteros the course designer.

The Signature Hole - 6th -

The 6th hole is a short par 4 that tees off over a lake towards the sea. It is well known for its panoramic views and for being a prime viewing location to watch the sunset. The hole itself should not cause too many problems at less than 340 yards from Whites but there is out-of-bounds left and a sloping green which could catch some players out.

Sea & Pines:

Blacks - 7,065yards (Par 72)

White - 6,668yards (Par 72)

Blue - 5,693yards (Par 72)

Yellow - 5,995 yards(Par 71)

Red - 4,950yards (Par 72)

Central:

Blacks - 6,639yards (Par 72)

White - 6,393yards (Par 72)

Blue - 5,670yards (Par 72)

Yellow - 5,935yards (Par 72)

Red - 4,979yards (Par 72)

Clubhouse / Golf Facilities

The practice facilities at Real Novo Sancti Petri Golf Club are simply incredible featuring 3 Driving Ranges all next door! There is a total of 130 bays at the golf club with 44 bays at the Novo Range which is 270m long and has a bunker to practice long sand shots...not everyday you get to practice these. Golfers then also have the choice of hitting the long clubs in the bag at the Petri Range which has 28 grass/mat bays, ideal for hitting the driver. For those wanting to warm-up their iron-play instead there is the Sancti Range which is 180m long and has 35 bays which can be hit off either grass or mats. Once having got your long-game as prepared as it can be ahead of the 1st tee, there are then also 3-holes of pitch and putt, a specific deep bunker area and a putting green in front of the clubhouse to get your short-game in top shape.

Accommodation at Iberostar Royal Andalus

The hotel has 413 rooms across doubles, family rooms and suites, with balconies facing either the sea or the golf course. For golfers, the golf-view rooms are a nice touch if you like a quiet drink on the balcony while you plan the next day's round. Sea-view rooms lean more "holiday mode" with the Atlantic as your backdrop. Room interiors are clean and contemporary, with air conditioning, en-suite bathrooms and enough storage for a week-long stay without living out of a suitcase.

On-site facilities are what make Royal Andalus such an easy pick for mixed groups. Two outdoor pools give you a choice between a livelier family area and a calmer spot for downtime. The spa is well set up for recovery days, with an indoor pool, whirlpool, sauna and Turkish bath, plus treatments including massages and facials. If you're travelling with non-golfers, this is the kind of place where they'll feel looked after while you're out on the course.

Families are catered for with three age-based kids' clubs, a playground and a small water park area with themed slides and splash zones aimed at ages 4 to 12. For older kids and adults, there's plenty to do without leaving the resort, including tennis courts, table tennis, beach volleyball and a well-equipped gym. Horse riding on the beach is also available locally if you want to break up the golf schedule with something different.

Beach access is a genuine highlight. A wooden boardwalk links the hotel to La Barrosa, so you can head straight down for a walk, a swim or an afternoon at the Sea Soul Beach Club for drinks and lighter bites. The club offers food, shade and a relaxed vibe if you want to stay out all day without trekking back to your room.

Dining is mainly resort-based, with board options typically including half-board and all-inclusive. Expect buffet service as the backbone, with international cuisine covering most tastes and dietary needs. There are à la carte options for those wanting something more tailored, and the hotel bars stay open for relaxed post-round beers and evening catch-ups. The main restaurant handles breakfast and dinner on half-board packages, while all-inclusive covers meals, snacks and drinks throughout the day.

You're less than 90 minutes from Gibraltar International Airport, which makes transfers straightforward whether you're hiring a car or booking a shuttle. If you're driving, parking is available on-site and it's a simple route from the airport along the coast. For groups flying into Málaga or Seville, transfers take a bit longer but both airports offer more flight options from the UK, so it's worth weighing up convenience versus flight times when you're booking.
