    Copperhead Course

    Par: 72

    Designed by: Larry Packard

    Open for play: 1974

Previously hosted: Valspar Championship since 2000

    Black: 7,209 yards

    Green: 6,624 yards

    White: 6,243 yards

    Gold: 5,676 yards

Innisbrook’s outstanding collection of four distinct golfing experiences – all designed by E. Lawrence Packard – has long made it a favorite of professionals, weekend warriors, golfing groups and players who are just learning the game. Considered among America’s finest golf courses and woven into the natural fabric of the resort’s landscape, the Copperhead Course is home to the annual PGA TOUR’s Transitions Championship and offers Innisbrook’s most challenging golf experience. Defined by tree-lined fairways and rolling terrain, Copperhead tests players with its many uphill and downhill shots, significant elevation changes and a variety of water-protected approach shots. The surrounding lakes, ponds and swamp lands are home to abundant wildlife, including bald eagles, alligators, blue herons, fox squirrels and many other types of water fowl. With the fairways and greens mostly free of traditional course-lined residences, Copperhead provides the opportunity to enjoy golf the way nature intended.

    Island Course

    Par: 72

    Designed by: Larry Packard

    Open for play: 1970

    Black: 7,194 yards

    Green: 6,686 yards

    White: 6,139 yards

    Gold: 5,695 yards

With tight fairways, intimidating water hazards and abundant bunkers, the newly renovated and lengthened Island Course is considered by many to be as equally demanding as Copperhead. The extraordinarily picturesque Island has played host to numerous U.S. Open qualifiers and NCAA Championships and has also been ranked among the country’s top 50 resort courses by Golf Digest. The course was the site of the first LPGA-sanctioned Legends Tour Open Championship and returns to the Island Course in November 2010, proving that women professionals appreciate Innisbrook’s golfing experience as much as their PGA TOUR® counterparts.

    Highlands North Course

    Par: 70

    Designed by: Larry Packard

    Open for play: 1974

    Black: 6,085 yards

    Green: 5,703 yards

    White: 5,304 yards

In addition to its tournament venues, Innisbrook® offers two equally beautiful championship courses with less complex designs. Similar in terrain to Copperhead, the North Course is known for its beautiful par threes, tight fairways and an abundance of trees and well-bunkered greens. It has long been popular with players who enjoy a more forgiving golf course. Recent course enhancements include additional yardage to selected par 4s and 5s, along with strategically placed bunkers and “waste bunkers.”

    Highlands South Course

    Par: 71

    Designed by: Larry Packard

    Open for play: 1974

    Black: 6,442 yards

    Green: 5,956 yards

    White: 5,562 yards

The South Course features a links-style approach, both in terms of rolling terrain and numerous fairway bunkering. The breezes from the Gulf of Mexico usually come sweeping across the wide open fairways, helping to round out a perfect foursome of golf courses. This is a comfortable course for the casual player or one just beginning to learn the game. Play from the back tees and it is as challenging as the North Course. Irrespective of your playing ability, Innisbrook® offers a golf experience where you can enjoy yourself and have fun – whether it’s following in the footsteps of the pros or breaking 100 for the first time. The resort also offers expert instruction on how to improve your score on all four courses, and instills a newfound confidence in your golf game.

Guest accommodations include spacious one, two or three-bedroom suites with full kitchens, oversized living and dining areas, and relaxing patios or balconies. The suites are ideal for a spirited evening card game or relaxing cocktail after a long day on the course.

To ease aching muscles, retreat to Indaba,SM Innisbrook’s new 20,000-square-foot spa, salon and fitness center. With tranquil scenery as a soothing backdrop, the spa features a meditation labyrinth, relaxation courtyard and treatment terraces and steam rooms. Indaba’s therapists offer a wide range of massage bodywork, water and bath therapies, facials, wraps and scrubs to deliver anti-aging, cleansing, detoxifying, energizing and relaxing results. Golfers will appreciate the deep tissue and sports massages to relax fatigued muscles, readying them for the next day’s round.

The resort features five outstanding dining venues, including a steakhouse, sports bar and a casual American grille, which offers fully prepared meals to take back to your suite. The sports-themed Osprey Bar, which overlooks golf greens, enjoys a spectacular sunset and provides a relaxing indoor and outdoor environment with open firepits and live entertainment.

    Golfer reviews

When putting together the package, Your Golf Travel worked with me to reduce the advertised cost by about £200 by switching the flights from Tampa to Orlando. In my eyes this was reassuring as they clearly had my interests at heart rather than going after the big bucks.

I stayed at Innisbrook which is home to four stunning golf courses, three clubhouses all with their own golf shop, swimming pool and bar/restaurant, and about 20 residential lodges housing about 70 suites in each; all in all a stunning development that is simply perfect for a USA golf holiday.

The suite we had on the third floor was massive, with a balcony overlooking the 18th green on the Island Course. Absolutely stunning views were on offer and this was the best accommodation I have ever had on a golf holiday.

They run a free tram service which ferries you from wherever you are to wherever you want to be on the complex, all you have to do is pick up a phone and dial zero. The longest we ever waited was about a minute!

All the staff, from the receptionist, through to the waiters and bar staff, to the starters, marshals and golf shop attendants, were the most friendly and welcoming I have ever met. All four courses were very good, very different, and well worth playing. The Island Course was the pick of the bunch with a couple of spectacular holes with blind drives, followed by tough second shots over water.

Our clubs were cleaned and stored overnight for us and appeared on the buggy the following morning at the course we were playing – excellent service.

We ate on site most nights, the food was top quality and relatively inexpensive, with a varied menu, and a good bottle of wine could be had for $25. The ribeye steaks we had at the Osprey Clubhouse on the last night were up there with the best we have ever had.

Innisbrook is simply amazing and we would recommend it to anyone going to the US to play golf. We will definitely be back in the years to come.
