La Monacilla Golf Club opened for play in 2011 and has garnered quite a reputation for itself among those who have played it while on golf tours in Southern Spain. Jose Maria Olazabal has masterfully laid this course out to follow the natural lay of the land which not only makes the course a challenging and enjoyable proposition to golfers of all abilities, but makes the journey around the 18 holes a real pleasure.

0800 043 6644Boasting five sets of tees means this course can be played from anything between 7492 yards right down to a more manageable 5302 yards meaning golfers of any standard can enjoy this wonderful course. Tree lined fairways demand accuracy from the tee but the main challenge comes from the necessity to safely negotiate huge water hazards and the gentle undulations and elevation changes that make solid club selection paramount. Olazabal’s design is a fantastic option for any golfers touring the south coast of Spain.
As well as the fantastic golf course La Monacilla Golf Club boasts superb practice facilities including an impressive 300 meter driving range as well as pitching, chipping, bunker and putting areas; perfect for sharpening up before heading to the first tee.
My score of the club which is lovely with very friendly and helpful staff is only reflective due to the lack of rain and watering of the surfaces. Beautiful course just needs some tlc and more rain. But of course as a members club not always as easy as a complex like DoubleTree. Not saying don't play it, just check condition first. Would recommend spraying up as mosquitos were present
At the end of November the fairway grass is dormant so looks pale and dried out. The fairways are therefore tight and a bit unforgiving. The greens were good in the main apart from some areas of fungal disease. I’m sure they’ll be back by spring. It’s a fair track which encourages the driver on most holes. Some nice par threes in there too. The club house
A very long course and difficult for high handicap players to reach in regulation. The course looks in poor condition with many areas needing attention. It was especially noticeable on the fringes of many of the greens which had sand around them. The design of the course is great but it looks as if it is want of some investment on the course condition. Many in the group enjoyed the course but some were very disappointed in the condition.
