At the end of November the fairway grass is dormant so looks pale and dried out. The fairways are therefore tight and a bit unforgiving. The greens were good in the main apart from some areas of fungal disease. I’m sure they’ll be back by spring. It’s a fair track which encourages the driver on most holes. La Monacilla Golf Club opened for play in 2011 and has garnered quite a reputation for itself among those who have played it while on golf tours in Southern Spain. Jose Maria Olazabal has masterfully laid this course out to follow the natural lay of the land which not only makes the course a challenging and enjoyable proposition to golfers of all abilities, but makes the journey around the 18 holes a real pleasure.
