Room, Facilities, Golf Shop staff. All Top Notch, we made good use of the pool both before and after rounds of golf. Cardrona is a long course which we walked all 3 days so the pool really helped. Sadly the Restaurant staff, in particular the Maitre D' didn't have a clue. Repeated requests for simple things seemed to be beyond their comprehension. Example: I asked for Tea at Breakfast and they brought me a pot of very good tea but I then had to ask for milk AND a cup, saucer and teaspoon.
Found in the gorgeous countryside of the Scottish Borders, Macdonald Cardrona Hotel, Golf & Spa is an all-encompassing golf resort, complete with stunning natural scenery.
The golf course is set upon the rolling hills of the Borders, with the River Tweed flowing peacefully alongside it. However, do not be fooled by its beauty, Cardrona can be a real test of golf, as those who have played it on the PGA Europro Tour can testify.
Whilst the idyllic location seems far removed from the real world, Cardrona is only 40 minutes from Edinburgh and 90 from Glasgow, a great place to escape from either city for a short break. The hotel itself offers guests luxury modern accommodation, with a variety of excellent on-site facilities, including; a restaurant, two bars, pool, spa and fishing in the River Tweed.
