1 Night, 2 Rounds
- 1 Night Bed and Breakfast at Mar Hall Hotel, Spa & Golf
- 2 Rounds at Earl of Mar course
1 Night, 2 Rounds
Perched on the banks of the River Clyde with views out to the Kilpatrick Hills, Mar Hall's Earl of Mar course is a quality 18-hole parkland test that fits neatly into a Scottish golf itinerary, especially if you want to be close to Glasgow. The layout weaves through mature woodland and more open estate land, so you get a nice mix of framed tee shots and wider, more strategic holes.
Expect elevation changes, well-placed bunkering and a few water hazards that ask you to think your way round rather than simply reach for driver on every tee. Play it sensibly and it's very scoreable. Get loose with your lines and it will punish you quickly, particularly if you miss on the wrong side and leave awkward angles into the greens. It's a proper test, but it's enjoyable for a range of handicaps if you pick sensible tees and manage your game.
Location is a major win here. You're around ten minutes from Glasgow Airport and roughly twenty minutes from the city centre, so it works brilliantly for quick weekend trips, corporate golf days or anyone trying to squeeze in proper golf without a long transfer. The practice facilities include a driving range and short-game area, so you can warm up properly before your round.
Who is this for?
Golfers or groups looking for a high-end Scottish golf break that combines a quality parkland course with luxury accommodation, spa facilities and easy access to Glasgow city centre and the airport. Ideal for couples, small groups, societies and corporate outings who want a complete resort experience without the logistical hassle of multiple venues.
Who is it best for?
Mid-handicappers and better who appreciate strategic parkland golf and want a resort base that offers more than just the course. Also suits golfers combining business with pleasure, or those using Glasgow Airport who want to maximise their time on the ground with a convenient, high-quality stay-and-play option.

Extending to over 6,500 yards, the par-70 Earl of Mar course was designed by renowned golf course architect and PGA professional, Dave Thomas. Despite its tender age, the mature trees and historic grounds of the 19th century Mar Hall Estate give the impression of a long-established golf course. Designed to appeal to golfers of all levels, the course comprises two par-5s, twelve par-4s and four par-3s, all of which feature mature trees and the challenge of strategically placed bunkers.
With new ownership, Mar Hall is embarking on a transformative journey elevating the venue to become a world-class destination. Visit Mar Hall to embark on a journey of luxury and excellence.

Since opening in 2004, Mar Hall has established itself as one of Scotland's leading five-star golf and spa resorts. It's tucked away in secluded woodland on the Clyde, but you're still only around twenty minutes from Glasgow's main shopping and business districts, which is exactly why it suits both leisure breaks and work trips.
Rooms and suites are split between the main baronial-style mansion and newer wings, with a polished, high-end finish throughout. Many overlook the estate grounds or the river, and there's enough space to settle in properly if you're staying for a long weekend or adding a rest day between rounds. The accommodation leans heavily into the luxury end of the spectrum, with spacious layouts, high-quality furnishings and the kind of attention to detail you'd expect from a five-star resort.
The Aveda Destination Spa is a genuine selling point for mixed groups and couples. If your trip includes non-golfers, or you simply want a proper wind-down after 18 holes, the spa makes the resort feel like more than a golf hotel. We can confirm the latest spa facilities and what's included with your stay when we quote, but expect a full treatment menu and relaxation areas that are well worth the time.
Food and drink is another strong part of the experience. There's a more formal restaurant option serving modern Scottish cuisine with locally sourced ingredients, plus a relaxed bar setting for post-round chats and casual meals. For groups, it's the sort of place where you can keep everything on-site, from breakfast to dinner, without feeling stuck in your room. The resort also features 24-hour room service and conference facilities, making it equally suited to leisure breaks and corporate events.
Overall, Mar Hall works best for golfers who want comfort and simplicity: stay on the estate, play a championship-calibre course, enjoy the spa and be close enough to Glasgow for an evening in the city if you fancy it. You can roll out of bed, have breakfast, play 18 holes and be back in the spa or restaurant without ever leaving the grounds. Everything you need is on-site, and the quality is consistent across the board.

The Pro Shop was a bit disorganised and they changed our tee time which meant we played in poorer weather. Some of the tee boxes were very poor and some fairways too

Average to hard as the wind played a big part however this did not spoil our golfing experience, as a 2 ball we had time and space to play each hole in relaxing mode ie no one right behind us and the game in front was nearly 2 holes in front, superb
