We were ten golfers, all men, staying for two nights B&B. with two rounds at Meyrick Park. For our purposes it was great. The golf course is a demanding test of golf. Although a little untidy, everyone enjoyed it. There's a pool, Jacuzzi, sauna & steam room for the healthy types. The lodge rooms were fine, staff friendly and helpful, the bar restaurant was very good and unlike resort hotels; great prices for snacks and draught beer. There's not many places we go to where we didn’t touch the cars for three days. The 18th green was next to the Lodge and Bournemouth town centre a 15 minute walk away. Bournemouth is a great place to spend the evenings with some good pubs and restaurants.
If you're expecting a usual hotel with luxurious rooms, bars and lounge areas don't go. But for value for money, a good golf course, great location and a countryside setting in the middle of a town - go for it.
Our group have been meeting annually for 20 years and everyone said that this year’s trip to Bournemouth was one of the best when taken as a whole. 9 out of 10.
