Ringed by majestic old trees, Montemedio's picturesque 18-hole, par-72 course is 6,520-yards long, covering gently rolling terrain and is widely rated as one of the finest in Spain.
The superb quality of its tees and greens complement the natural surroundings beautifully, which along with a great climate, leafy groves, beautiful Mediterranean pines, wild olive trees - and not a tourist development in sight - make for a memorable golfing experience.
In recent years, the bunkers have been re-positioned and the teeing areas have been developed to improve the course's aesthetics and playability. The signature hole is the tough par-5 11th, with a narrow fairway, out of bounds down the left hand side, a pond to avoid and an uphill finish to a small sloping green.
Not surprisingly, Montenmedio Golf and Country Club enjoys an excellent reputation amongst advanced players but beginners are also welcome here, courtesy of the well established golf school and the course's multiple teeing areas.
The huge equestrian centre, capable of housing thousands of horses, is worth a visit, and there is a country trail area where visitors are taken by pony-trap to see the local wildlife, including deer and boar.
