North Shore Golf Club
The course at North Shore is not a pure links because parts of it are parkland in style, but it is beautifully maintained and a very enjoyable challenge to play in any weather. The par-71, 6214-yard course is laid out over two loops, allowing the option of a quick nine holes in the evening if you so desire.
It was designed by the legendary course architect, James Braid, who won the Open Championship five times between 1901 and 1910. He transformed a piece of exposed coastline and lush tree lined parkland into a very memorable golf course and, like all good seaside course designers, took into account the prevailing easterly wind - which can cause even the best players a headache - when laying out the course.
North Shore also boasts a short game practice area and a putting green, and buggies are also available to hire from the pro shop.
The North Shore Hotel and Golf Club enjoys an unrivalled position, enjoying views across the Wash to the Norfolk coast, not to mention some fabulous vistas over the golf course. A warm and traditional welcome is on offer here for the travelling golfer. Lots of dark wood and soft, comfortable seating makes the hotel a very inviting place to be, and the restaurant serves up excellent English fare cooked with locally sourced ingredients - the Sunday carvery is particularly popular among guests. The James Braid bar is open all day every day, offering bar snacks and a wide range of real ales and lager - an ideal place to relax and enjoy those concentrating on the greens outside.
There are 36 bedrooms in all, comprising singles, twins, doubles, triples and a quad. All rooms are en-suite with TV, direct line telephone, tea and coffee facilities. Most have spectacular views of the golf course and sea. The Residents Lounge is equipped with satellite TV so that you do not miss out on those favourite sporting events.
There is ample parking for 100 cars and the hotel is ideally situated for those wishing to enjoy the nightlife in Skegness, which is only a very short taxi ride or drive away.

The Billy's Golf Society has just returned from a golf break at the North Shore Hotel and Golf Club and all 15 members of this year’s touring party had a most enjoyable time so thank you to everyone at Your Golf Travel for all the hard work.
As a group with handicaps ranging from 7 to 27 the quirky mix of 9 holes Links and 9 holes Parkland offered more than enough of a challenge to suit all abilities. That said, a few birdies, an eagle or two and a net albatross brought the attention of The Skegness Ornithological Society!
We were blessed with dry sunny days but with the inevitable bracing winds Skegness is famous for, the conditions were just shy of perfection.
As a whole the course was in very good condition with all the greens being immaculate and featuring some quite tricky pin positions. Unfortunately the recent prolonged dry spell has left the fairways on the links course a little parched.
The 5th and 10th holes which run alongside the beach offer great views and the daunting prospect of a drive from a tee less than 10 yards from promenading, sandcastle building holiday makers.
The Hotel is a large Victorian building with some more recent additions, rooms were clean and adequate without any modern features but some with great views of course and sea. They were perfect for a golf holiday though as we really only used them for sleeping!
The wood panelled Dining Room is large and bright and the waiting staff both friendly and efficient. The Dinner Menu changed daily and the choice and quality of the food was very good indeed. Breakfast was also very good with plenty of choice and all freshly cooked.the smoked mackerel was outstanding.
The bar was well stocked with all the usual and some good local beers at around £3.40 a pint which is very affordable compared with other establishments we have visited on previous golf tours.
Overall the verdict was a solid 8 out of 10. We all agreed that a return visit sometime in the future was something we would consider with pleasure but for now we will broaden our golfing horizons and try something new for our next golf trip.
Many thanks for your help in arranging the tour and I would be pleased if you could assist with our next stay and play golf break. if you could provide golf break packages for the following venues I would be most appreciative.
